    Mulholland Riders Los Angeles - Map Link goo.gl/4V7s8u
    This Park sign describes "the Snake"
    "You are standing at the top of curves that road enthusiasts affectionately call "The Snake". Over the years Mulholland Highway has tested the merits of cars from Duesenbergs to Teslas. This particular stretch of road is a mecca for motorcyclists. It's sharp turns offer an adrenaline rush and a chance for fun, fame and often folly.
    To your left is "Edwards Corner". It was named after the late Ed Savko, long-time owner of the Rock Store., a popular road house just down the hill. Hundreds of riders have (removed word not advertiser friendly) on this challenging 180- degree curve, perhaps showing off for spectators, who often gather here. Other succumb safely to the charm of "The Snake." "
    Thanks for watching!

This is why I think ABS should be mandatory on street riding bike, not just for the safety net for all riders but for the fact it can save uneducated riders from losing their lives. Obviously I see this all the time, it is an education problem. People don't know enough about the machines they are riding and put themselves and others in danger.

    That's just a whole sequence of very very basic mistakes, one after the other, and it leads me to believe that that guy has never been anywhere near an MSF class, and the damage to his Ducati, not to mention his ribs, would have paid for both the class that would have stopped him eating it, plus the full set of gear that might have helped him out somewhat if he did, twice over...

    • @matthewsprague9502
      @matthewsprague9502 7 лет назад +8

      your partially right even new rider should take an msf course but that won't stop you from this !!! 2 days in a class and one spent behind a desk just teaches you the basics, the only thing that will help here is track days and time on the seat ... this was a young kid making a rookie mistake and luckily he will learn from it and get to a track day because that's how you learn your bikes capabilities and yours ....
      90% of riders start riding get into a very near accident and then give up and talk bad about our sport all because they didn't get into the sport the right way .... every new rider should have to take a few track days

    • @fat_biker
      @fat_biker 7 лет назад +6

      There's a difference between doing the right thing badly and screwing it up, which you are right, 2 days of MSF class won't fix, but surely nobody who has done an MSF class and passed the exam decides to brake hard for a corner using the rear brake only...

    • @eberbacher007
      @eberbacher007 7 лет назад +1

      thats why anybody from Europe would tell you that your whole MSF stuff is a joke.
      20-30 hourse riding training on the road, one teacher, one student, and 10x4hours in the classroom with other students, thats a timeframe where its possible to learn at least the most basic things.

    • @MrBbduece
      @MrBbduece 7 лет назад +4

      MSF does not teach someone how to ride. It is a basic class on safety and some really basic skills that won't save most people from an easy situation.
      Take it slow to learn and do some track days, supermoto, adventure bike, or dirt classes if you really want to hang with the rest.

    He knew grabbing his front brake would lowside him, but didn't seem to know locking the rear brake is also a bad Idea. In his case lowsiding would probably be the better option as it always usually is. My instructor always tells me, if you're gonna enter a corner at the wrong speed, too slow is a lot better than too fast.

    • @pasbert4812
      @pasbert4812 3 года назад

      Friend , grabbing the front is the only way to slow your momentum , a lowside is not guaranteed , what is without doubt though is crashing from pounding on the rear break and locking it up on a corner .

      Doug, why NOT go up there if you're a new rider? But, ride within your means and abilities. If you've got to take that curve at 10-15 mph because you can't do it any other way, then do it that way, and be safe.

I expect with comments like these you got onto a bike and rode it flawlessly first time?

    • @Nessal83
      @Nessal83 7 лет назад +2

      Nope. But that is why I DONT RIDE TWISTIES on my first day out. You can get plenty of experience on the streets or perhaps take a riding course? You know, where they teach you how to ride and navigate turns? In fact they even have intermediate courses and advance courses for those trying to pursue more experience and build up on their skills? I've ridden for over 10 years and I'm still alive today so I must be doing something right. Also when I do hit the Twisties, I ride out in full gear unlike this squid. Always look up the road and if you think you're going in the corner too hot lean more and look where you want to go. The bike might move around a bit and slide but you should be able to just keep pointed in the right direction it's better than crashing into a guardrail.
