Have you ever had a crash on your bike? Could you have avoided the crash?

Had a highside 1 month ago.. still recovering, 8 broken ribs (each rib broken into several pices) a multi fractured scapula and a punctured lung. The first week at the hospital i was fighting for my life and chances of surviving where slim.. I spent two weeks at the hospital but I'm far from well today but I will get close to fully recovered according to the doctors but it will take a few more months.
I was carrying full gear thank god otherwise there is no way I would be writing this comment, could I have avoided the accident? Yes there was, the obvious one is I could have taken the car since it was still winter (not cold and icy but still) so there where still some sand in the roundabout where the accident occured, another thing I could have done was keeping a lower speed.. I was driving around 40km/h and pushing the bike to much before the tires was up to temperature.
Before I go out and push the bike close to it's limits again I will get an airbag vest, that could have saved me from perhaps the puntured lung that later collapsed at the hospital.. and that would have given me better odds of survival.
The bike I was riding when the accident happend was a Triumph speed triple 1050 from 2014 so there is no electronic aid on that bike.. I love the bike but maybe I will take another bike with electronic aid if I plan on pushing it a bit on the road..
Stay safe, always wear full gear and when you feel the need for speed go to a trackday instead!

Dust, or maybe going into a corner too fast and deep for a left/right combination, trying to maintain speed while leaned over, high gear so no engine braking, 44 kph entry but 47 kph when he loses it, so not setting up for the immediate right hander coming up? It's 7 degrees Celsius in canada right now, and I'm riding roads like this at the moment and seeing this accident is gonna make me even more careful. I think (I hope) this crash was avoidable. Scenery is great, enjoying cornering is great, but I think looking ahead at the combination corner instead of focusing on the one right in front of him would have prevented this accident. Glad your friend is ok.

Not the exact same situation, but similar happened to me. Broke my collarbone and fucked up my elbow and shoulder joint even though I was wearing full gear. Also broke two ribs. Had to get surgery. Thanks for the video!
