Fun fact about driving in Vanuatu. The islands were formally run by both Britain and France as a joint protectorate (or condominium) known as New Hebrides. The administration worked quite smoothly, but there was a question as to what side of the road they should drive on because Britain and France drove on opposite sides. Rather than have a silly fight about it, they decided to wait until the first car actually arrived on the islands, and go by that. It turned out to be a French car, so that’s why they drive on the right.
I don’t know how true this story is. I heard it 40 years ago, but it’s such a good story I’m gonna keep on repeating it until someone tell me different.

Vanuatu is one of the most spectacular countries in the world! There's Mt Yasur, where you can see a volcano spilling lava bombs. Amazing! Then there are lava lakes in another island, Ambryn. A sight you can't easily have in other parts of the world! Bubbling lava! Then there's also the Millennium cave and diving USS Coolidge... so many things! The problem is that you need to travel from island to island. Quite expensive. But oh, so worth it! I can't wait to see your new adventures!

Many airports have an industrial strength baggage / box wrapping business. I wrapped my bicycle box in Rome's Fiumicino airport a few years ago when heading back home as the box I had was also flimsy and it worked very well. After that I never carried my bike in boxes anymore. I bought large roles of this thick plastic and wrapped the bicycle in it. The aircraft appears to be an ATR 72, which is quite common for short haul domestic flights. Several airlines operate them around the world. Good that they found a place to carry your bike. It probably just takes just too much messing around as a large cargo and the ground handlers simply don't want to go through the trouble.
I work on these planes all day every day. They can carry about 1200-1400kg of cargo depending on how much fuel they are carrying. Trouble with the bikes is they don’t really fit in the rear hold and when stowed in the forward hold they take up so much room, if the bike was taken they may of had to offload 5 other peoples bags because they would run out of room so from an airlines point of view it’s better to have one unhappy passenger than 5
Thank you for taking us places the average tourist may never go. It’s also amazing how you do so many mikes with such an old bike and without all the latest cycling accessories, fashions and gimmicks every other cycling vlog shows. Makes you realize that the experience is what counts, not the equipment...
Please come to Kiribati, you will have no problem with riding the entire country because they are small islands but they have lots of amazing scenery and lagoons and fish

Hey, she took off both wheels, the pedals, and turned the handlebars sideways. There’s not a lot more you can do! The limiting dimension is from front forks to back stays.

In the south pacific its very uncommon bringing bicycles, surf boards, etc ...so when booking you need to explicitly say that you will bring a bicycle with you also dont think "extra luggage" essentially mean bring whatever as a extra piece
I've gone on smaller planes than that, but that was only from Wellington to Nelson in New Zealand. Don't think it's quiet the same

Ho, nice choice Vanuatu, expensive choice also! When I was in Australia I wanted to go, but they had à big tsunami and Volcano eruption at the same time I wanted to go so I had to change plan. Can't wait to see you bike near a volcano in activity! Be prudent!
