    Glad to know this exists. I bought Lasfit bulbs that have built in load resistors, but the Silverados dim the front turn signals, so it bypasses their load resistors. I always thought the replacement flashers lost the "tick tock" to let you know your turn signals are on, but yours is still there so I'll be looking at getting that :D
    On that note, if you want your tinted turn signals to be much, much brighter, get the Lasfit 3157 anti-hyper flash. They run about $50 a pair, but they are hella bright. At night with my headlights off I could almost use them as fog lamps because they're so bright.

    • @donovanmccary7430
      @donovanmccary7430 2 года назад

      I know I’m late to this comment. But I have a Silverado too and bought very similar lights. (Just by SyneticUsa opposed to Lasfit, though my head lights and high beams are lasfit) nice and bright as well. Anti-hyper flash. But it still has the hyper flash. Did this get rid of the hyper flash?

    • @cujoedaman
      @cujoedaman 2 года назад +1

      @@donovanmccary7430 Yep, I eventually had to buy an LED compatible flasher. Even with all four turn signals using the LASFIT anti-hyperflash, it would still do it.
      Now I kinda regret spending the extra when I could have bought the $15 LASFIT bulbs instead and just use the new flasher. Oh well, it's how we learn.
      I have this nice little 2000 Saturn I bought while I could do some work to the truck and I'll probably try it with that and just replace the flasher instead of getting the more expensive bulbs.

  • @jaredmotsch

    Hey man, not that it matters a whole lot, but just figured I'd let you know that the hyperflash is actually caused because of the fact that the led provides much MORE resistance than a halogen bulb, allowing much less current to flow through it, which is why they use so much less power. The truck knows how much power a halogen bulb is supposed to draw, and when it fails to draw that much power then it hyperflashes because there's "not enough" current flowing through the circuit (since LEDs are so efficient). Even though it sounds like adding a resistor will provide more resistance, wiring one in parallel actually does the opposite. Adding a resistor in parallel pretty much just creates a controlled short circuit that allows more electricity to flow through, not less. Basically just takes away the efficiency of the LEDs and makes them use as much power as a halogen so the truck doesn't get confused. Again, not that it matters haha but just figured it doesn't hurt to know. Love the truck!

    It does that because there isn't enough resistance to keep them at a slower pace, not because it's a safety measure. There's a bonus in that design knowing when you have a signal out, but its simply because it lost resistance.

    Good info, thank you - I was about to go the much more tasking route of crimping in multiple resistors, but this is much easier, and makes more sense. Plus resistors get hot, so when you tuck all your bulbs and wiring back into the light housing, you need clear placement of those load resistors. Best thing with mine, the relay was behind the glove box, simply released a clip, and it was a 10 second job.
    Those flashers relays at O'Rileys were $17

    Hi! I hope you read me :) Bought LED bulbs H11 for a Ford Ranger 2016 XLT. The bulbs works well with the car not running, just the switch-on. When the engine is running, once I turn-on the lights they turn-off by themselves in a second. A troubleshooting? Will a different relay work in this case? Any leads will be much appreciated. P.S. I visited 2 electricians here and they couldn't help me (not the most proficient people in the country I'm residing tho, with all respect). No errors on dashboard. I've installed the Fog lights, more simple LED bulb, and they're working well. These H11 headlight bulbs are just 40W each, original is 55W. Trying to avoid a Canbus Decoder / resistor. Thank you in advance!

  • @genericdude6551
    @genericdude6551 3 года назад

    First off, it's not that there isn't resistance but there is a high resistance because the bulb has opened. It's the current being pulled that the vehicles computer system is monitoring. Anyway, Replacing the flasher relay is the best option. That was fine for my 2002 Mustang but I just found out that my 2014 Xterra doesn't have a user replaceable flash relay because it's integrated into the BCM. I've heard that the BCM can be reprogrammed but someone else said it isn't possiible. Nissan service couldn't help because this is non-stock. Some say that the CANBUS rated LEDs would be an option since they're suppose to have circuity that pulls enough current to fool the vehicles electronics into thinking that an OEM bulb is being used. Resistors are an option but the only problem with that is that if your LED goes bad the resistors will be telling the electronics that the bulb is good. And the CANBUS rated LEDs are more expensive.
