These sorts of lights are not legal for road use, is there a way of adding something to the circuit so you can dim them when reversing whilst on roads? And did you add a relay? If not have you experienced any issues? Is it crucial when wiring to existing circuits to add a relay?
@@khanara6 dont think theres a way to dim them only option would be to get a lower watt light or run the lights to a switch to turn it on and off when u use them. I did not run a relay no need these dont pull alot of power. My lights still work with no problems hope this helps
I have a different style of these same brand light for my reverse lights. I had a leak in one of mine and the customer service from Nilight was fantastic. 10/10 would recommend this brand for the cost and quality.
I did this same thing to my truck a few years ago. Works great and really lights it up behind you. I suggest taping off the bumper and using rust-o-leum spray paint on newly exposed metal. After about a year I had rust stains running down my bumper because I didn’t paint it.

jeremy s .....he said exactly how he wired it. He ran the “Red” power to the purple trailer hitch wire and grounded them both separately. Fairly easy if you are familiar with wiring. FYI you can turn the key on without starting the truck and be able to put it in reverse without having to worry about the chalks keeping it from taking off backwards.
I'll back these lights as being a good bang for their buck. Have had the same lights mounted in my rear bumper for almost 1.5 years. Still as bright as day one. Tied in to my reverse wire and a switch to a couple diodes, then to a relay, allowing me to independently switch on/off without triggering my reverse lights. If I need to use them as "Fuck you" lights to them tailgaters, or hook up my trailer in the dark, I don't need to be in reverse to do so. Few extra bucks for the electrical parts, but they are worth it.

@@78ginop Sorry, no video was produced. But got the idea from a car camera set up where they wired the back up camera the same way so it can be turned on when reversing wasn't needed. But I ran a + line from my battery, with a 10 amp inline fuse, to the relay (located near my rear bumper) for constant 12v. I then ran a + line for my on/off switch located inside the cab to my fuse panel and found an open "constant on" port and used a fuse tap connector. Then I ran a + line from the switch and my reverse wire off my towing harness, took those 2 + lines and connected those to two 5 amp diodes, and on the pass through side of the diodes I twisted and connected them together and ran to the switched power port of my relay (which allows me to independently power with the reverse or with my switch). Not hard just route the wires from the lights under the frame with zip ties till u get to a location where u can route the wire in the cab, for my truck I had a rubber plug under neath the driver side back seat that I could pass the wire through if u dont have this u might have to drill a hole and insert a grommet, mount your switch on your dash and run a wire from a power source ( battery )to switch hope this helps
Very helpful I was wondering that because I would have to have mine to a switch my reverse lights are activated when I press my break peddle so they are blacked out.
For any NC folks looking to do this you can't have them come on with your reverse lights when you get inspection done, they can be there just not on with factory lights.
I've never heard of anybody getting a ticket for it but I did have to fail a few people and tell them to go pull the fuse and come back cause in NC the inspector's drivers license is on the line. What is even dumber the reverse lights don't have to work to pass 😑
Very nice . I wonder.. it would have been nice with a switch inside in case you need a light back there if you just need some light . But nice video though 👍

I did not. not saying you don't need one or not having one isn't the right way to do it but yes it Does currently still work. remember I have mint wired to my trailer wiring which is a fused circuit anyways
@@AllThingsCool Thats right... I remember now.. Thanks for the reply.
so 2 years now are these lights still working? $20 versus some of the $150 ish ones
Yup there still working as good as the first day !
Awesome lights. Awesome video. Thanks.
Glad it helped
Nothing to do with the lights, but prior to them being installed, was your reverse camera showing purple and pink? Or have you had accurate color always
Accurate color
@@AllThingsCool I must need to return my camera then, even during the day the grass is purple and everything seems monochrome
@@rh72919 yea that's not good
As soon as I heard him speak.. I KNEW this guy was in Michigan lololol
really? what a michigan person sound like lol
Couldn't you have used the bezel you took off to place against the bumper to mark your hole? Seems clumsy to trace around the light itself
No the hole in bezel is smaller then the body of light
Better if you hooked up a switch in the cab that way you can control whether you want them on
I hope you prepped the metal, those dodge products rush pretty fast as it is....
rg amore lol i know what your saying the bed is rusted out and the rockers
Yeah, I was going to say the same thing, but he said he was getting a new bumper in the summer.. hopefully he preps the new one right. He is from Michigan. Salty roads and all..
That's bright as fux man good job👍👍
Dude that looks awesome. I'm sold and installing some just like you did.
Great work man.
WT Force thanks im glad you like them and fyi you wont regret it they help out a great deal at night when backing up!!!
chuck I just dented my rear hatch on my 99 Cherokee while backing up because I couldn't see. $20 a set of these I'm definitely taking this route. Thanks again!
WT Force hey i like the look of the flush mounted better but just to let u know they have some out there like these ruclips.net/video/acGVreUbqFI/видео.html
Just in case u dont want to cut into ur bumper..
Oh and good luck let me know how it turns out !
that was pretty cool..... thanks!
Glad you liked it!
That would look awesome on a black bumper, which I have, will have to do that. Thank You.
Good job and that's a Michigan plate.
Real nice job,looks great
Thanks
How hard would it be to wire it up in to the cab for a switch?
Not hard just route the wires from the lights under the frame with zip ties till u get to a location where u can route the wire in the cab, for my truck I had a rubber plug under neath the driver side back seat that I could pass the wire through if u dont have this u might have to drill a hole and insert a grommet, mount your switch on your dash and run a wire from a power source ( battery )to switch hope this helps
Very helpful I was wondering that because I would have to have mine to a switch my reverse lights are activated when I press my break peddle so they are blacked out.
Good job and new sub👍
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback and support !
For any NC folks looking to do this you can't have them come on with your reverse lights when you get inspection done, they can be there just not on with factory lights.
That sucks !
I've never heard of anybody getting a ticket for it but I did have to fail a few people and tell them to go pull the fuse and come back cause in NC the inspector's drivers license is on the line. What is even dumber the reverse lights don't have to work to pass 😑
Good job dad
😝
mari1865 thank you kayla 😉
mari1865 hi maril
Thanks for making this video for us. Good job, looks nice.
Thanks, glad it helped !
Great video on "how to install auxiliary lights on a rear bumper",especially how to install flush. It's your bumper a steel one?
Thanks for the comment and yes its steel
How are the lights holding up after 2yrs?
very good both still work fine and surprisingly the finish on the lights still looks good to
@@AllThingsCool thank you for responding sir
Very nice . I wonder.. it would have been nice with a switch inside in case you need a light back there if you just need some light . But nice video though 👍
Thankyou
Is that a double din radio, if so what kind is it?
Pioneer double din
Great Tips, Good Stuff 👍 Thanks!
Good step by step video. Thanks for making it.

Who cuts into their factory bumper? Good idea but I need flush mount 3M on style
Some tasteful lights.
what kinda backup cam do ya have
Andrew Beal you can see it in this link ruclips.net/video/c4oq50Ph8WM/видео.html
What kind of deck are you running. Inside
Nick Epstein not sure I understand the question
chuck kososky. The radio
Pioneer, ruclips.net/video/ACCOP524Voo/видео.html
, this is actually a good idea, especially if you live in the country or woods.
Yea it helps alot
Huge difference!
So I have a question. The whole time you’re cutting the holes you can see your tag. Why cover it up and the end? Nobody cares about your old red dodge pickup.
Then dont worry about it ....just saying it amazes me that some people come to this video for helpful info on installing aux lights then some people after watching it would rather leave a comment about the plate being covered then anything g else in the video. I was going to blur it out in editing then I realized who gives a fuck lol
Would you mind letting us know how they’ve held up?
I'm happy to say these lights work the same as day one so far no moisture has gotten into them and all light work as they should, really impressed with them for the price
Dude those are bright
Nice install just wish you showed the wiring part
I grounded the black wire to the back of bumper and connected the power wire of each to my reverse signal wire on my trailer harness ( for my truck that was purple wire) hope this helps
How did you wire them in?
I grounded the black wire from each light to the back of the bumper with a sheet metal screw then ran the red wire to the positive on the reverse light
If you want to wire them to use as reverse lights all you have to do is mount your led lights, Find the power wire from your factory reverse lights, splice the red wire from your led pods into the power wire from your factory reverse lights, ground the black wire on your led pods and your done. You don't need a relay. They will only be on when reversing.
i agree ran them this way for years
Good job Mr.
thankyou !
Well done! I'm getting ready to do the same thing on my Ram Rebel and my Toyota Tacoma.
Michael Wittenborn used to have a tacoma luved it the rebels are nice !
Great job. Was thinking about doing this. Just a quick question. Have the screws holding it together rusted yet?
Abe Unger everything held up good no rust lightz still work buddy of mine has some ebay ones not the nilight ones and they rusted and a few leds dont work
How do you get out of the truck with it in reverse?
Doug Sharretts lol wheel chocks
Or don't have the engine running
Parking brake maybe?
Just put the vehicle in reverse, kill the engine, then turn the key back to on. The lights will come on but the engine isn't running so you won't get run over
Charles its clearly visible at 2:38 for like a whole minute... 😁
Kevin Reed lmao unfortunatley it is ...
Nice Job.. I plan to do the same to my Ram only difference i will install a relay but still use back up lights to turn on relay.
Mr Nobody329 thanks!
Did you install a tailgate heater as well.. you wonder why .. well when you are pushing the dodge off the road in the winter because it broke down again keeps your hands warm ...this is just a joke don't hate me
dwayne marshall lmao dont jinx me !!!
Nice, simple video. Thanks.
I have these at the end of my boat trailer, so when they tail gate my boat transom the bright flip on
Nice 👍
