I am truly amazed how that car looks From an apartment garage. You are doing such an amazing job......for you guys who did not know The Hood was probably one of my first 1000 subs. Check out his channel to see this car.....It is super amazing
Your videos are the best. I've learned invaluable information about VW from you. Bringing a 70 T2 bay window back to life. Been many years of blood, sweat, tears, and dough. Will be Niagara blue. Thank you! From Rochester, NY
You are an inspiration to all of us vw guys/gals! Stay positive and keep making videos because your metalwork videos are priceless! I have used your videos to begin restoring my '60 Ragtop bug. I will continue full time when I retire. I will be using whatever resources I have, and my main one is your videos. Please keep up the good work because you are valued in the vw community!
This is what life's all about! You pile on your life experiences, make the best of them, and use all that earned wisdom to positively impact the next guy. Thanks Mike!
LOVE your video's keep them coming. People with your knowledge are fading fast. Thanks for sharing. You will be thanked for many years to come. You da man!
Thank you Mike for keeping it so real, the section on will it run had me laughing out loud. Having built engines and watching your videos on building the different VW engines, I can totally understand your view on that format. Can't thank you enough for the body work lessons, that's an art form that you do a great job of not only doing a specific repair, but why you do it the way you do. All the best!
You do great work, obviously technically, but also in conveying that info to us meatheads in the public. Please keep making your videos- you're helping a lot of people.
Glad you're making plans for the coming year. You can tell by the comments that a lot of folks watch your stuff for restoration help. I've had to hire all the work on my bus. All floors replaced and front end. A buddy did the body panels. It ain't cheap. The DIY guys really lean on you. Another idea would be to interview car owners at the shows and meets. You do good stuff. Keep it up.
I stumbled upon your channel recently and heard your stories about the economy and how at your age the younger generation seems to think they have something to teach you 😂😂. We were young at one time ( I’m 63) but every generation thinks that they’re a “legend in their own mind”😂. Anyway I’ve been self employed for the last 34 years Doing welding fabrication and machine repair and there’s ALWAYS some younger adults that think that they can weld circles around me 🤨😂 I just say “awesome that’s great!” But I always get called to redo things they’ve done 😎👊🏼. As far as length of time and unfinished projects, I have a 1966 nova coupe that I’ve had since 1995 and haven’t finished it yet, because of the kids sports and they needing gear then college and we being their financial support. Now their both adults living their lives and my wife recently as about “ when are you going to finish your nova?” So along with my nova there’s my daughter’s 64 Chevy C10 and my 54 Willys jeep wagon beach wagon. Be encouraged! We’re not “Old skool” we’re the RIGHT SCHOOL!!😎😂🤙🏼💯💪🏽. “ALOHA FROM HAWAII”🤙🏼💯🌺
New subscriber, I used to own a 63 and 65 Baja bugs. Worked in a body shop in Texas, now live Chicago. Should be getting another 69 Baja within the week. I enjoy your videos so I can get ready for my next VW.
Also REALLY ENJOYED the recent baby window bug you restored 😎💯🤙🏼 I’m looking for a VW bus project for myself. I’m a Chevy guy but I’ll delve into other makes being a child of the 60s I would love a bus 🤙🏼
I bought a squareback for 4/20 last year love the show videos. And the fact you show everything it's super rad gives me ideas for my concept. Be way harder without that. kinda a niche vw so glad to see groups together been truly helpful. Not much square stuff on youtube and its ehh.
Watching while I have my morning coffee. Its morning and summer here in the bottom of the world. I remember my first comments on your channel revolved around a healthy debate about fan shrouds and cooling. The outcome was I threw away my thermostat and used type3 Cool-tins. Good advice :) Telephone calls? Nah! I do Email only so I control the communication schedule. Love hearing your help/success stories.
I too was able to rebuild-a-bug based on your videos!!! The satisfiction level in the end result is unparalleled to anything else!!! ...and I get into EVERYTHING!!! THANKS!!! ...have you 'n a Honda 600 ever hit the monument, btw?
Hey Mike ! yesterday at 4.00 Fedex dropped off the J-bugs lower windshield repair panel . I got it for 186$ on a sale ? It has gray oil base paint on it . I am going to strip it down and use some gray epoxy primer and get to work . when I got it I didn't have much time to look at it they said it would be 20 gauge but it looks like 18 cold roll . I am going to only use the middle of it ( just under windshield ) and not mess with the ends ? The ends don't even have surface rust under it and looks like a pain in the a-s .. This is gonna work great and hopefully last 50 more years .. The seal is in good shape I put it on 7 years ago and it was one of those lifetime ones ? I could have patched up the holes for 0 $ but if my wife ever has to sell Rambus this would de-value it 4-5 thousand $ .Oh I wish I had a new headliner !!!!!!!!
Your fabrication skills are fantastic! I know there are others who could use your help to get past their body obstacle. Traveling costs money though, wondering if partnering with a sponsor could help make it happen?
yea I did hit up Wolfsburg west on the last build 36hp......and it was hard because they are friends. But Tony totally Stepped up gave me a HUGE discount to get that engine built.
G'day Mike, Great video. Your videos are so full of information and knowledge. If it wasn't for you, i would have never purchased my 67 split window. It's on hold at the moment why i save for a new welder, but I've got other things to keep me busy. So thanks again for sharing man ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Keep an eye out on some of those amazon deals. Do they have the Best Arc mig over there. it is super cheap and very easy to use. On Amazon. I have a video and a link.
@@Mikefngarage We really don't use amazon in Australia much its not the same as the usa model. Its a crappy watered down version. Ebay is way more popular here.
Mike i dont know if you're already doing this but you could link some of your other videos in your filler videos. Keep it up. Started buying tools, manuals and finally starting on my bug thats been sitting for 2 years now. Was my daily for 8 years before that.
That is the important thing; to get it done. I don’t dig the “barn find”, “power wash” or “will it run” videos with no conclusions. Too many channels like that. They suck.
I do them sometimes just to use the title and get more views. I am not sure if it is working or not but I need to do some stuff to get more views for sure.
@Mike Fn Garage - How about starting a Discord channel as an offshoot of your RUclips channel? Charge for membership subscription, and interact with members on VW and paint and body questions and problems.
I have thought about doing a patrion but I really want it to be for everyone for free if it is possible. Lets hope the next few months stuff really happens.

Thanks Mike for your time, positive attitude, and sharing your wealth of knowledge. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have rebuilt my engine.

Yes its tough on no money but the show must go on.
Low budget to no budget bug bus repairs.
Florida wasn't to bad during cv19. Not as bad as most.
