This was Burch's first time hearing Skillet Monster, one of Alexis's favorite bands. It was strange for her to bring a rock song that Burch had never heard before. Her father took her to see them when she was 12. In the video, Alexis also gives Burch is rap name. ‪@skilletband‬

Yes, they are still active. Their 11th album, Dominion, was released in 2022. Formed in 1996 , the lineup has been constant since guitarist Seth Morrison joined in 2011. Lead singer, John Cooper, and rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Korey Cooper are husband and wife. Jen Ledger on drums.
Alexis, please show Burch a song that includes some of Jen's vocals, like "Awake and Alive", "Hero", or "Feel Invincible".

Here's a few fun facts about Skillet:
    Their fans are called Panheads.
Skillet had been around since the mid 1990's. Their first album came out in 1996.
John Cooper, lead singer and bass player, is the only original member of the band. His wife, Korey, joined the band in 2000 playing keyboards. She now is more of a rhythm guitar player, but still plays keys as well.
The current drummer, Jen Ledger, is Skillet's second female drummer. She took over for Lori Peters, who retired after being in the band from 2000-2008. Awake, the album that features "Monster", was the first album Jen recorded with Skillet.
As of 2022, Skillet has recorded 11 studio albums, and 2 live albums.

    • @donjackson5522
      @donjackson5522 5 месяцев назад +3

Korey does most of the mixing and production work herself also. She is amazing and can do everything. Tate Olson also plays cello for the band. I miss Jonathan Chu playing violin. Such an incredible violinist.

Skillet is a great rabbit hole. The early 00’s Christian metal was taking over! They did the heavier radio rock style who reached out to people who weren’t Christian because they always needed this and not the judgment that came from some of the more gospel type Christian music. Awake and alive, not gonna die give the drummers vocals more shine, whispers in the dark and comatose give more of their heavier side!

If you'd like to hear how much it's changed, I'd recommend listening to "Locked in a Cage" (1998), "Best Kept Secret" (2000), "Alien Youth" (2001), "You Are My Hope" (2001) - Featuring Korey Cooper sharing vocals, "Savior" (2003), "Rebirthing (2006)" - Featuring Korey Cooper sharing vocals, "Awake and Alive" (2009) - Start of current format with Jen Ledger sharing vocals.

I really enjoy Skillet have their own playlist I listen to. There were quite a few Christian Rock bands from that era. Y’all should check out “Thousand Foot Krutch” “P.O.D.” and “Pillar”.
All have their own style but their songs are structured like Skillets. Also after watching other reaction channels no one else has discovered these gems from the 2000’s.

Thanks guys! Have really been enjoying your content and been dropping in pretty regularly.
SKILLET, while primarily a Christian Rock band, desn't require you to be religious or spiritual to enjoy or appreciate their music.
They have a really good catalog and are definitely still rocking!
I'm 63 this year and haven't looked myself into a period or genre. While my preference is rock and Metal, I like good music wherever it is.
I went through a period when I thought I'd heard everything worth hearing. I quit exploring.
About 15 years ago, my KIDS introduced me to DISTURBED. I haven't stopped exploring since.
But SKILLET was another one that my KIDS turned me into.
FALLING INSIDE THE BLACK by Skillet is another great track. I could probably name off several tracks, but FALLING is top of mind.
    Subscribed!!
