Kinda funny, they thought "Monster" wouldnt be a hit, meanwhile thats the song that got me into the whole genre and into the band and it remains as one of my favorite songs of all time.

@@rogueshay853 There is a big differene in writing jesus lyrics vs writing about for example depression. If you listen to their really old songs vs the new ones you can see the difference. Once they changed their musical style they blew up. It doesn't matter if they are christian or not.

We all know Amvs would never be the same without Skillet, those two coexist like bread with butter, this is how i learned about this band and many others i believe so.

I'm a bassist but their drummer is so freaking cool. When I saw them live she talked about her past and I was really surprised she wasn't american. Such a cool girl and an inspiration.

I'm not religious personally, but Skillet is an awesome band. Good music is good music, I don't care if they are a Christian band, solo artist, whatever. I know it's only a few, but those few people who don't like a certain band or artist or something purely based on whether the group or person, etc. is religious or not is stupid.
I am one of those few. I can tell you that I am offended, and I am not stupid.
Choosing the right artist is key in your life, and the right one (who speaks THE Truth) can change the course of your life! People who DON'T do this are stupid!
I find “Monster” very similar to “Animal” by Three days grace but I love it just as much. The song “Will you be there” is what got me into the band ❤️❤️❤️
Jen is just so perfect. But I love Skillet so so much. I'm not religious in any form, but I remember seeing an interview with John and he said it doesn't matter what religion you are or even if you're not religious then it doesn't matter. Its the love of of music that matters. But These guys and Black Veil Brides have got me through so many tough times, and I will never be able to thank them enough. I love you guys so much.
Sadly John would end up backpedaling on that as he now rubs his religion in people's faces. Between White Horse on that garbage known as Dominion, his temper tantrum about Deconstruction and him celebrating the repeal of Roe v. Wade like a frickin child, he is definitely not the humble man he used to be. (And yes, I am a Skillet fan)

And have you ever considered that spreading Christianity is part of how it works? He's doing what he's called to, if you don't like it then don't listen to him.
lol, I can promise you he didn’t say that. John Cooper sets spreading the gospel higher than any song he’s ever written. There’s no way he said it doesn’t matter if you’re a Christian or not.

You're the one making the claim, so show me where I can hear it. If you ever care to listen to John Coopers' podcast and how he sets the gospel in the highest regard, then you will see why I'm skeptical. John is a staunch Christian who believes Jesus is the only way to heaven.@@glenbrown3011

I still remember Skillet playing at a my Calvinistic school 12 years ago (I think they building was rented for some event) and people complaining about them being satanic because they sang about monsters xD.
I got introduced to skillet by a boy in that same school.

Love Skillet! Been listening to them since their very first self titled album. They've gone thru so many awesome rock styles since then. Loved them all!
Skillet's got great music. Haven't listened to it as much recently just as my musical preferences have shifted, but I always love videos like this that just show the members of the band having fun. As someone who missed a high five from Jen Ledger at Winter Jam 2018 by about an inch, it makes me really feel like I can connect with them as people.

I feel like their newest album Dominion came out at the perfect time for the world. With the way the world is right now that album is just perfect in everyway. Probably my all time favorite.
Monster has one of my favorite musical parts of any song ever, that simple sudden breakdown with just the reverse guitar, followed by the distorted growling vocals, gives me fucking chills
I saw Skillet about 20 years ago and met John. Really nice guy. Great band.
I love this group and especially how personal they are with their fans. I really enjoy the musical counterpoint between John and Jen in some of their songs like Hero and Feel Invincible.
My goodness. First time I knew this group existed was back in 2015 when I saw them live on a mission trip in Detroit. Since then I have been hooked on their music, and it’s changed my life. Thank you Skillet!!! 🥺😍

I actually had never heard "Stand Up" before. I'd heard a few songs from Veggie Rocks but that's it. "In the Belly of the Whale", "The Hairbrush Song" and "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything", all fun tracks haha. I'm kinda like John I don't know hardly anything about the show, just seen a few episodes.
I will say, the show is more entertaining to watch as an adult.

I saw Skillet at the Oil Palace in Tyler, TX around 2009. By far my favorite concert in my entire life.

Man their past 3 albums have been so good. I love them so much. I'd see them in concert if it wasn't for the 8 hour drive.

I remember reading a lot of comments on a Skillet video or post on FB (can't remember which) and people were bragging about how long they'd been listening to Skillet. Most of them said they'd been a fan since 2007 - 2008. I was sitting there thinkin "Amatuers much?" I've been listening to them since their first album in 1996 when I was 12 years old, and I had to explain who Skillet was when I told people they were my favorite band (still are today).

"Monster" wasn't meant to be a hit, yet Monster got me into Skillet, and since then, I've been jamming to their music. Goes to show that record labels don't always know what's a hit or not.
This was really fun to watch reminds me on how I got to meet them and show them I am learning one of there songs on piano one of the best times I had
i remember when Skillet came to Alaska in 2014 for the state fair. my mother took me to see them, my favourite part had to have been John wearing a neon green shirt saying "Alaska" on it.
to this day, i still have my Sick of It t-shirt.

I have seen Skillet 5 times, 2 free concerts at the Hills Alive in Rapid City, South Dakota, once at the Sturgis Motorcycle rally, and twice paid Concerts one of which was a VIP pass where we got to go backstage and meet everyone and get pictures taken. It was one of the most wonderful and wholesome moments of my life. Everyone was so genuine and pleasant to be around and honestly the whole experience is what made Skillet solidified in my top favorite bands.
I'm going to see them in concert in August for the first time in idaho. Always loved listening to their music and monster was actually the first song I learned on guitar still love to play it

Invincible was the song that got me into Skillet. First song I've heard by them and fell in love. The last concert I've seen them was March 10, 2020 in NJ. 2 days before they shut everything down from the pandemic.

I know Skillet since 2014, found them via an amv with the song monster in it. Really love the music, such good messages in them and I'm so excited to hear them live in my first concert in April.

I love how they always stop the bell because they are all so in tune with sound and music that they are like “yep we heard the noise, no need to let it drag on”

A part of me was hoping for even more early Skillet like the Alien Youth album, along with early songs like "Whirlwind" and "Saturn." It was nice to see the OG album get love. Glad to see "Monster" and "Legendary" in there, as those are all time greats.
Their current stuff is good too, but somehow I've been a fan of theirs sing jump off and on. "Kill Me, Heal Me" and "Alien Youth" are a couple of excellent songs in between their 90s rock moving towards their metal like current sound afterwards.
It's funny how normal they are (sound normal, their showmanship and talent musically is insane), because how intense they are STILL after 20+ years for John and Korey is nuts.
I've heard this band since 2009, the first song I heard... Monster ( one of my favourites they perform) and to this day I think they are one of the best rock bands in America if not the world. I always look out for their next album because there's always that hit song you just want to listen to again and again. ROCK ON SKILLET

Not a christian rock genre listener but I met skillet when I was a like 11 or 12 yo in like 2010 and I got an instant crush on them. I grew up with those lyrics that many times were a hug, and advise or just some love that nobody gave me through difficulties. Definitely my favorite band of all time ❤️ hope to have the opportunity to see them live one day since I'm not from the US

Kind of embarrassed for Jen & Seth, but I guess being part of the band, you're not constantly listening to the old catalogue of songs. It was awesome that stand up was included, that was a great song. It would've been cool to include a bonus song from Alien Youth (like "always the same"), maybe a song from Alkeme and Seraph!

I don't blame Jen and Seth for nit knowing the old stuff. In the off time when not writing or touring I would think they wouldn't want to listen to the band they play in. Heard their new album a few months ago and thought it was really good, there were a few times where I thought they could have gone into a breakdown or something heavy, but everything worked well together for their style. Awake and Comatose are classic albums.
Jen joined the band in 2008 and Seth in 2011, the album Skillet was released in 1996 and Invincible in 2000. Plus they don't really play the songs from their very first albums live anymore. So Jen and Seth probably don't really know these songs that well
It makes sense for Jen and Set not know songs before "Rise" and "Awake" since they joined later to band, as Jen joined to band in 2008(Year before making "Awake") and Seth joined in 2011 (Year before "Rise" album)
What would be embarresing if Jonh actually, didnt regonized his songs, since he is in Skillet since 1996, when he created the band.
@@DayDreamingWriters I don't know if I'd say that, because if I were joining a band, it'd be pretty important that I like them and that would include knowing their whole catalogue pretty well. That may have been the case when they joined, perhaps it was the factor of time.
Gotta say I loved the early Skillet albums. Favorite songs from the first 2 albums were Safe with you, Gasoline, More faithful, and Locked in a cage. I didn't know about the title he wanted, but it's pretty funny. Would love to see them on vinvyl someday, could even put the title on that version of their first album.
