The first time I've heard them, I didn't know they were a Christian rock band, which is something that I like. Their songs don't have to be really about Jesus, they can just be empowering
That's why John writes his songs the way he does. Yes all of their songs are inspired by God and their faith, but John writes their songs in such a way that you can take your own message away from them even if you aren't aren't Christian
I've been to a concert of theirs and they played their most well known songs Monster and Awake and Alive. When they played Awake and Alive it quite literally felt like that place was shaking. It gets your heart pumping and gets you juiced up on adrenaline.
I saw them live last year and BROOOOO they kick ass!!! They're so good, such a good message and so much energy. The singers wife is actually the female guitarist lmao, they're such a killer duo and i love the drummer too. Can't wait for the next react brother, keep rockin it :)
@@sbjct24bhazard74 no it's not. I've seen her live and no one else in Skillet is in her band. Korey was at the beginning but they found another guitarist to fill her place so she could tour with Skillet. Jen's roll in Skillet was filled in by Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf on the dates she was unavailable

Chasen Brown lol no that would be weird as she joined the band at 16 haha and people would question how Christian John is. Also Jen is English not American
If you’d like to hear more Christian rock bands, I highly suggested Thousand Foot Krutch. Falls Apart and War of Change are two of my favorite songs by them.
Dude, seeing this song live. It has a WAY MORE powerful effect than that music video. This song gets you pumped up and ready to take on a million haters. They're shows are so bomb live.
Love your videos! I just saw Skillet LIVE in Kansas City last weekend and this is one of the songs they performed. Absolute energy in the whole theatre!!! It’s like the difference between watching a sports game on TV and attending a game in person. The positive uplifting overcome-every-obstacle --hard to put into words!
In very album of Skillet's, there's always 1 or 2 songs that plainly show that they are indeed a Christian band. Obviously they all do on some level, but in this song's case it's pretty blunt, and props to them! Cause it's pretty awesome to see that this one got as popular as it did. Usually those types of songs are the ones that get passed up, but this one hits *SO* hard that it was too hard to ignore.
I really love Skillet. Their songs, despite being christian rock and obviously talking about god in their songs, their music can just as easily apply to anything, really. Like, even though I'm not religious, their music and message still resonates strongly with me. Their music isn't strictly about god, more so just finding something to believe in, something keeping you going. Their music can be interpreted in a million ways, and I feel like that's intentional. I love it.
I believe that's the whole point of music, any art really. It should be open to interpretation. The artist can have an intended meaning to their work, but the listener, can take it and apply it to their life in any way that they see fit. As long as one can connect, it's a success.
the first rock song that i got connected with back in 2016. i got the album cd for christmas and i just loved hearing this song. i went to their concert on spetember 22nd of 2016. such a memory i keep in my heart

Saw Skillet live. They opened with this song. John Cooper started out on the center stage, 50 rows back from the main stage, for about 20 seconds with the lights flickering on and off and boom he is gone and 50 feet above the stage decending on cables performing the song while changing elevation from 10-35 feet up and down while 15 foot flames shot up in the background. He must have used a body double for the first part obviously. The point is that Skillet live shows are epic and honestly what they are known for. Korey Cooper on lead guitar is indeed the wife of lead singer and front man John Cooper. Korey also mixes and produces the bands music. Jen Ledger on drums also contributes to vocals on many tracks now has her own band. Not Dead Yet by Ledger might be to your liking.

It still amazes me that Jen Ledger can still do backup vocals while drumming.
She also does most of the female main vocals.
I love how her vocals complement the song audibly speaking.
She is a goddess
As someone that has learned to do it only a little, major props to her!
I think she might actually record the drums and vocals separately? I’m not sure though, she’s soooooo good ❤❤
