    Don't forget to mention that if you run both M.2 slots on the motherboard your PCI-E first slot goes down to 8 time and your second goes down to 4 times.

      Asus has been doing this for years on just about every ROG board. People are just too dumb to actually figure it out or spend time reading the manual.

      @@chrisgg i found out from what I can tell it DOES decrease speeds in the PCI express. Better off using the main and secondary slots directly on the board for your OS and Main storages. Then if you want subsidiary storage that doesn't need to be necessarily super fast then use the card expansion

    I realize I am late to the party here, but this is a HUGE motherboard. Would be nice to see a list over cases where this can be fitted without any issues regarding to space.

      True I have seen cases “support” eatx but it doesn’t have the 3 right stand offs so I just hangs there is uncommon and mostly on smaller cases that you probably shouldn’t be putting a Eatx mobo in but still

    One is LCD and one is LED matrix, not a screen, just LEDs in a matrix that can display kind of image with help of RGB functionality and matrix arrangement

    That first switch you show yourself Switching is actually The Alteration mode Switch as Asus calls it and its used To Switch between auto and Gen 4 and Gen 3 Pcie signal which comes from your CPU Its located on page 1-19 of your owners manual. The slow mode is what is used for what your calling the LN2 mode button this motherboard has a Ln2 jumper actually as well.

    This mobo is very nice but I wish that AniMe Matrix screen over the I/O ports was more "detailed" with way more "pixels."

    Just want to say, you missed the waterblock port that's above the cpu, near the two 8-pin CPU power connectors.
    Also, if you keep having camera focusing problems, Maybe switch those sections to B-roll footage. We don't need to see you pointing out a connector, or section in real-time. Once done with your primary filming, and rough edit, go back and film some B-roll footage of you pointing at the parts you were talking about in the video.
    Just a suggestion. Good luck with the channel, and nice breakdown of the board!

    Im having horrible issues with my X670E-pro . It takes 3 minutes to get to the windows log in. doesnt read my ram correctly. Doesnt shut off all the way. I cant even download Asus drivers or the Armoury Crate app. I keep getting errors. Lastly, its super slow! I cant believe it.

    Can you answer a quick question about the RGB on this mobo?
    If you set the RGB Matrix pattern and OLED and reboot into the bios is the RGB pattern you set still displayed while you're in the BIOS? I'm asking as I run Linux regularly alongside windows so I'd like to be able to reboot from windows into linux and keep the RGB pattern as it was. I'm wondering if it persists once it's set or if it gets reset to default as soon as you leave windows.

    This board only advertises usb4, but it uses a thunderbolt 4 controller. Are you able to test somehow if the thunderbolt 4 support works or is enabled?

      I have this motherboard. I don't have any thunderbolt 4 devices. But according to thunderbolt control center, it says it has thunderbolt 4.

      my caldigit ts4 dock connects at TB4 speeds with absolutely no issues on this board, driving the same 2 displays my M1 mac does and all the other peripherals.

      @@xuvghost8707 The monitors are connected to the iGPU, but you can tell Windows you'd like games to render using the "high-performance GPU" then copy the image to the iGPU (like it does for laptops).
      I've tried gaming on these monitors and had no issues, but I still have my primary display connected direct to the GPU for peace of mind. it just simplifies cabling since the 2 side monitors on my TB dock can run on my laptop or desktop with just one cable.

      yup! that was the AMD Wraith Prism stock fan, the clip mechanism of the AM5 is same as AM4.
      however, AM5's bracket can't be removed, so do make sure the cooler that you want to use is compatible with it first! :)

      Hi, you'll need to download Asus's Armour Crate software, and from there you should be able to tinker with it via the Device Tab.
      Asus made a tutorial on the AniMe Matrix for it's laptop, but it should work quite similar to the X670E Extreme as well

    Just got this board...I have 5 m.2s for this....(A 990 Pro 2TB for my system drive and 3 4TB and a 8TB drive). Which slot should I install the 990 Pro 2TB for fastest speed? On the board itself or one of the PCI adaptors? Thanks for the help!

      for your fastest drive (990 Pro), we would recommend putting it to the board itself, as those will be direct connection to the CPU and both will be running on PCI-e Gen5x4, which will enable you to take full advantage of that new super-fast SSD you got there. 😉

      yup! it will still work. With both of the slot occupied, the 1st and 2nd slot will be running PCI-E gen5 in x8 bandwidth (which will have the same bandwidth as gen4 x16). :)

      in your opinion, if running just one 2tb Samsung 990 pro m.2 drive, would you install it in the M.2_1 slot or the alternate Z.2 DIMM slot and just use the gen 5 side with heatsink? Thank you!

      @@ernestprobinson1193 thanks, this is what I went with. I just ordered a 4TB Western Digital Black 850x m.2 nvme drive that should be in today. I need more storage and there have been some recent articles saying the Samsung 990 SSD may be having some issues with drive health. To be honest, I’m just ready for the 7950x3D cpu to come out February 28th so I can try and get it at first release. I assume many will be waiting for the 7800x3D to release later and skip buying a 7900x3D or 7950x3D at the end of February. I just hope that the 7950x3D is going to be better than the 13900k/ks in a broad selection of Games and not just a small handful. In games that don’t utilize much L3 Cache, I assume that the 13900k and ks will still take the lead. Hopefully the reviewers will get their hands on these new 3D cpus soon!

      I don't see why not. But they will not be running 16 times speed. They will go down to 8 and 8 and if you use more than 1 m.2 drive, they second one will go down to 4.

      Yup, it should be able to. As from what I recall, SLI/NVLINK just require 2 of the pcie slot to be running at least x8 bandwidth.
      So this board will certainly be capable of that.

    I've been told that if i use one of the m.2 slots near the pcie slots it will make the pcie main slot a x8 and the second slot a x4 is this true?

      yup, if i recall from the user manual. when the 2nd m2 slot is used, the bandwidth of the top pcie lane lane will be x8 and the bottom one will be x4. :)

    now i understand why their huge case has 2 front full speed usb c - my intel version (the z790 maximus extreme) does NOT allow for 2 front usb 3.2 gen 2.2😂😂😂 what a joke. if you compare am5/x670(e) vs z790 the only thing really better is a doubled speed to the southbridge😂 everything else is way better on the amd side😂

      with the current bandwidth requirement of the lets say a 4090 or 7900XTX... I dont think it will bottleneck it @8x, considering its a PCIE5.0 (8x) which is equivalent to PCIE4.0 16x.
