I'd strongly recommend Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (possibly next Halloween), by the same director Tommy Wirkola. It's also an awesome action-comedy with Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, and Famke Janssen.
If David Harbour doesn’t commit to the bit so hard in this he delivers a genuinely great performance, it’s just a lark. He’s just way too good of an actor to keep this from floating away.
He’s also great in Gran Turismo. And most actors just play variations of themselves. Which is a talent as well. Only a few can truly disappear into a role.
There are several versions and foklore through out the European regions. The Viking tie in comes from the fact that Christmas comes from Yule = Yuletide, a Old Norse winter holiday, 12 day festival, that would be Christmas.
