I play a variety of guitars, display the attributes and sounds of the amp, and even toss in a couple pedal sounds. This is a great little 23 pound, all tube amplifier and it’s a pleasure to play at home and even at small gigs. With the overdrive feature, it puts out a potent volume. Very close to the power of a Fender Blues Junior or Princeton Reverb. With the six V6 powered tube it has quite a ”Fendery” sound. The amplifier can play quite clean in the 6W position, or with the boost, a commanding grungy sound.

I bought one a few weeks ago and days later found it a soul mate. The VHT melo-verb serves as a wonderful complement to this hidden gem.

This is the best complete detailed demo off this amp I´ve ever seen in years. Superb clean sounds, great reverb (digital but great), superb fingerpicking. Those dobro resonator guitars sound amazing amplified. I can tell you are a great player that can sound this good plugged into a 1930 radio.

Sir. how did you manage to get clean sounds so loud from such a low headroom amp? Did you mod the circuit, change preamp tube for a lower gain one. I have the same amp , use It im my livingroom and all I get at low to medium volume are overdriven sounds. BTW great fingerpicking, lovely guitars, never heard that resonator guitars sound so good amplified. Your slide technique is also second to none. Cheers
@@gerardoromano3436 Maybe you need to replace the tubes. Mine is clean until almost cranked even on the 3w setting. I get speaker breakup on the boost before getting tube saturation.
@@gerardoromano3436 … the clean sound is just fine in my living room. I live in a pretty much soundproof 110 year year-old building, with walls of concrete and plaster 8 inches thick. I can play pretty loud in here and that amp gets pretty loud. No mods or changes.
I thought that the speaker sounded a bit dull and kind of "empty" probably because of its big capacity in comparison to the amp´s power, so i changed it for a 25W Jupiter 10SC and now it´s great. Still very clean, but also very lively now. Also changed the tubes for some TungSols.
Hope all is well.Thanks for the vid. I built a 4x8 cab with some Jupiter 8sc speakers. It's a stereo cab. I think i may pick up a couple of these heads for it. And cool that you use the the one control blue prussian reverb. I'm probably going to run reverb in one channel and his turqoise delay in the other. Now I'm hunting for the amp heads. What an amazing value for a serviceable hand wired sound machine. Good stuff.

Theres one for 125 usd in my area. Im looking for something smaller than my crate 2x12 33w and monoprice 1x12 15w tube amps now that I live in a duplex. Had a bugera v5 with an upgraded jensen speaker and never really liked the thing in the 12 years or so that I owned it. Shouldve just gotten an eq for it. Miss the headphone out. Imma keep an eye on this in case the price drops. Liked that last tone a lot.
$125 is super cheap. I would definitely grab one of those for that money. I used to use a Fender, Pro Junior and I like the VTH more.

Bet a nice inexpensive $46 Jensen C10R may even enhance that tone a little bit more. I'd build a sweet pine cab for it too. I may have to pick one up.
I have the VHT Special 6 Ultra. The stock speaker sound really muddy. I replaced it with a Jensen C12R. Now i get that Fender clean sound. It sounds great.

Nice demo and fine playing. I will checkout two of these combos this week to get a lower volume stereo setup to supplement my 15W 2xVox AC15 clone heads and 30W 2x Laney LA30BL heads.
I will probably build headshells for them and use a couple of separate 1x12" cabinets, it should be just loud enough for band use with two of them and a pair of efficient speakers like G12H30.
It’s nice to have a small set up as well. I have always used a splitter, going through a Deluxe Reverb and an Orange Crush Bass 50. Plenty of power for the small band I am in. two 12 inch speakers move a lot of air. BTW, I’ve had a couple of Vox amps over the years and I absolutely love them.
Thanks for posting the video, I was trying to decide between the VHT and the Fender Pro Jr. I think I will go with the VHT and the 6V6 power tube.
I was really lucky with mine. It used to list for $400 and the price has since gone up a little bit. But mine sat in my local store for a year and the owner, who is a very good friend of mine, had it listed to sell at $299. And because of our friendship, he sold it to me for $250, brand new. There’s a couple used ones on eBay at about $350, and new at $450. I can’t say enough about this amp!
I also live in a small apt. I also play a G and L Tribute Legacy with Lace Gold Sensors.
I have 2 ASATs, I love them both, and I’ve been a telecaster man for 50 years.
My second ASAT is a Junior ii, it has P 90s and is cherry red just like the Gibsons. But it’s shaped like a telecaster!!! ❤️🎸❤️
For a practice amp, should I get this or the Laney cub 8. Play mostly blues and some rock, not too heavy.
If you can find a VHT Special 6, buy one. I love it. 10”, 6wt, footswitch bost (really monster). I used a reverb pedal and that’s it.

If you want a bit of ‘space’, One Control Prussian Blue Reverb is the most gorgeous and lush I’ve ever played. Very adjustable too 👍🎸👍
