    Hi guys well it is about time you guys started using these traps. Over here in Australia we have been catching pigs with these for well over thirty years. A quick idea, when you build your trap make it a bit bigger and get some steel tent pegs to keep the mesh stuck on the ground. We normally leave these traps out for a year if the pigs are around, just fix them up as necessary. Now one last thing be careful with the boars they can and will jump over the wire fence so be careful. Stay healthy and Covid free.cheers from down under.

    I used citrus juice after 3 or 4 days soaking in ice. About half ice half water. Add cheap juice 4 or five gallons. You can add oranges, pineapple or whatever else you can get cheap. And if you want to smoke the hams. Put them in a brine for 24 hours. Oooooweeee.

    I enjoy watching these kinds of videos because I learn how dangerous wild hogs are caught. Though it may appear to animal cruelty, wild hogs are extremely dangerous. And they are known to destroy properties, kill pets, and kill people. The way I see it, these guys are keeping the neighbors safe from wild dangerous hogs while catching a meal at the same time.

    I used to live down south for a few years and that was the best times of my life I love Chicago but you haven't lived life until you get your hands dirty and go out to live off the land there is nothing like the feeling of pride in knowing that you yourself put that big hog on the table for you your family and friends.

    Add a half cup to 1 cup of vinegar to your salt and ice and it will help remove blood and boar taste from meat. Also, enlarge your trap using 4 or 5, panels, (4 inch square, 5 foot X 20 foot panels); Tee post 4 foot apart, cover the top, or extend the top with hog panel tied across from across the trap to keep big hogs from jumping out. Also wise to: wire a floor in along the inside edge of the trap to keep big hogs from rooting out. You can catch a whole sounder that way and pay for your panels.

    Almost forgot, the hog snare has to have a loop 16" to 18 inches in diameter, and the bottom of the loop should be 6 inches off the ground, with a chin stick.
    Hogs travel with their nose to the ground so drive a 1" stick deep enough in the ground to be secure, and a few inches in front of the snare to force his head up high enough to make him walk through the snare. Most hogs get caught in a belly catch, so he will still be alive and fresh when you check your trap line.

    Goodness how much money did they spend on bait? The fancy fine powder and syrup. Two bags of corn for that little of a trap. Over kill if you ask me. Half a bag of apple scented corn is all you really need. You don’t have to make a pile in the middle. Just throw it out like chicken feed and scatter a few handfuls outside. 30-40 bucks in bait every two or three days is outrageous. We don’t all get swamp people money

    • @alan30189
      @alan30189 Год назад +1

      If you have a hog problem, just spend the money to get rid of them and buy one of those “Pig Brig” trap systems. It’s by far the best design ever I’ve ever seen in a trap. Like this trap, the biggest advantage is you don’t have to sit up all night waiting for the pigs to go in your trap, and drop it, like you do with the drop traps, or the drop gate traps. Check out the videos on RUclips.

    Hogs will get educated to wire traps pretty quick. They never wise up to snares. Set the game trails leading to the trap and get twice as many.

    • @OkieFarming
      @OkieFarming 5 лет назад

      Be nice to try snares they just don't have any set trails. Plus with three miles of creek bottom to run on our place makes it dam hard to keep track of um. They don't come out it the fields much or root up the wheat. I guess because it's cool and with acorns, pecans, persimmons lots other stuff to eat their pretty content. The only thing I'm not happy about is I think they are killing the baby rattlesnakes

    • @parrotbill9072
      @parrotbill9072 5 лет назад +1

      @@OkieFarming You have to set for hogs where there are small trees to tie off to about 6 or 7 feet high as a spring pole, so when the try to pull out, their front feet come off the ground and they can get no traction. So you would look along where there is a choke point coming out of the woods. Then you can make sour corn mash and strain it out into a mustard squeeze bottle an squirt a path to your snares. Nothing to eat so they will follow the path you laid out, hoping to find the treasure further down the path into you snares. It's usually a 3 to 1 catch ratio, so use 14 to 20 snares, the bait could up your odds.
