I'm a Desert Storm and iraqi Freedom vet, Loved air assaulting out of helos, was aviation for 12 years, most amazing feeling flying in those birds. Saw Toby 3 times in Iraq, great guy, he really loved the troops he will be missed but never forgotten. I love this country and everyone in it, I will always protect all Americans regardless of race, religion, sex or any other divisive category. we are all Americans regardless and no matter our country's faults (mostly our govt) we all bleed the same. I have visited over 30 countries and none compare to the USA. All the haters need to wake up and realize what they got

I am a veteran myself, my son, my dad and granddad and as far back as I can trace pretty much. If you serve 20 years or more in service or if you were disabled while in service you are eligible for a monthly benefit. Also, all vets are eligible for free medical for life if discharged with an honorable discharge. Thank you for acknowledging our country's service members and I thank your family members for their service. Toby was very patriotic and performed for many of our soldiers overseas. RIP Toby!

As a VA employee, it’s probably the greatest pleasure (other than being a father) I have been apart of. We could improve our veterans benefits and in some cases cut back on things that don’t help the veteran in the long run only keeps him\her in a federal program. (Referring to the drug and homelessness aspects of the VA.

Since 2002, Toby Keith has provided more than 250,000 troops with a touch of home through performances in 17 countries, including Iraq and Afghanistan, and several ships at sea. It was also 2002 when Keith began touring with the USO to entertain those troops who could use a boost from back home. With performances in Bosnia, Kosovo and Macedonia, he shortened the distance between more than 3,000 troops and their family and friends. In the following years, he’s performed nearly 300 shows from Afghanistan to Cuba, Djibouti, Guam, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan and points in between. He was awarded multiple military 🪖 awards for his contributions to the military.

How do you rank up in the Military??
Same way you do outside of the Military. Hard work, dedication, education and perseverance. You stop working on any of those and you will never be all you can be...and I don't just mean some cheesy Army slogan, I mean in whatever you choose to do in life. Understand that if you stop moving forward, that Goal Line Will NOT wait for you.
Its not Society that keeps anyone down, its their own lack of ambition and personal drive to persevere regardless the circumstance.

So, as a chaplain, my husband had to be lowered from helicopters in a seat thing onto ships on Sundays so he could do Sunday services on ships that were too small to have their own chaplains. Then after the services, they would pick him up the same way. The helicopter would hover over the deck and he would strap in and they'd pull him up! He had to train in a helicopter that they dropped into a swimming pool with a hood over his head and seatbelts on. This was too teach them how to get out of a downed helicopter in the ocean during the night! He also flew in helicopters when he was stationed in Iraq. When the chaplain is aboard a helicopter, they call it the Holy Helo. As soon as he departs, its no longer called the Holy Helo. Only when the chaplain is aboard.

  • @suepall5425

I just wanted to let you know that my husband was a military chaplain for over 30 years. Our veterans should never be homeless and there are programs set up in every VA center across America that will work with them and get them into housing. Unfortunately, this is complicated by the fact that there are some veterans, due to substance abuse problems and/or mental health issues, who are unable to avail themselves of these programs. They're simply so unwell that they do not have the wherewithall to actually show up at the VA to get the help they need. These people fall through the cracks. Also, please be aware that there are people out there that will hold up signs claiming to be veterans that are not. Not all. But these sort of people are out there. My husband served 4 combat tours and I too am a veteran. Thanks for hearing me out on this complicated issue.

Toby Keith was the genuine article. You knew exactly where he stood. Too many of today's "performers" hide behind an onstage persona, but true colors will out. That mask will always slip eventually and the real person will be known, much like it is now with an undeserving entitled brat. Toby deserves better than radio silence from those he helped get started.

If you have fought and risked your life for this country, or even if you haven’t actually gone to war but have been training & sitting on “ready” to go and fight, the very least our country can do for you in return is to keep a roof over your head, utilities on and food in your belly.

He was such a good patriotic dude. He went and performed for the troops all over the world. Most officers graduate from military academy with a degree and start as an officer and yes the more years they are in and courses they take will go up in rank. When you see most of their sleeves with stripes signifies 4 years for every stripe. Regular enlisted that don't go to military academy will go up in rank with years in service, promotions, test, etc. up to an E9. The higher the rank the higher the pay as well.

In the military there are two different ranking systems. One is for enlisted men. Every year and at every duty station you are given an evaluation that rates your performance by number. Every year each rate (your type of job) has a certain number of advancements and those with the highest performance numbers are advanced in rank and goes from E-1 through E-9. You must also serve a certain minimum of years for each rank, take courses, pass tests and serve in arduous duties to advance. Commissioned officers go from O-1 through O-6 until they reach flag rank which means they're Admiral or General. In order to reach flag rank you must be appointed by Congress and it is more political than military at this point. Commissioned officers must have a college degree before receiving a commission into the military and some specialized officers must have additional higher education such as doctors, lawyers, dentists and chaplains. Chaplains must have 7 years of college, 4 years of undergraduate school and 3 years and a Masters of Divinity from seminary. Hope this helps you understand how all this works.

As an old fourth generation vet, with TBI and PTSD, that was homeless and now existing under a VA homeless program for veterans. When you question how a person can end up well, like me. Wisdom has taught me that you can get so wrapped up in the silent battle within, that you can lose everything outside of it. I suggest you watch Five Finger Death Punch, "Wrong side of heaven" and " Gone Away" , it might help understand a little more about the issues for many vets. Those two songs are hard to watch for vets at times.

My father and grandfather were both airborne. They both jumped out of planes and now my son is doing it as well to keep the tradition going. My husband who is retired military as well and never did it. He jokes with them and so what I never jumped out of planes. Where you part of the capture of Sadam because I was. Trying to get a one up on everyone.

There are commissioned and non-commission officers. The officers you salute are LTs, CPTs, LTC, ect. They have to have a bachelor's degree, and those go to general. Non commissioned is your sergeants to sergeant major and you don't salute and no degree required.

Here in Buffalo, we have Veterans Hospital where veterans get free health care. Sadly, homelessness is still a problem. I like to donate clothes. 🙏🏼✌🏽

My little brother was a marine combat engineer (basically he built things and blew them up) he told me one time they were building a bridge across a small wadi (like a canal) and he was having to weld and what not while his buddy was shooting back at the enemy. They were taking pop shots at them while working. Every single job in combat is vital to keeping the most you can alive.

It’s sad that a lot of veterans were displaced; due to illegal imigrants‼️. My dad was in WW2; Korea; and 3 tours to Vietnam; Served 22 years. Gary Sienese ( Lt. Dan on Forrest Gump) has a great forum for veteran’s. Every cent he gets is given, to veteran’s; for housing; help with prosthesis ; and whatever need’s they have. Very worthy cause!

Being in communications means that he might have been the guy in his unit in the field with The Manpack Radio keeping unit comms up. So just because he was communications doesn't mean that he wasn't in the field... you need to show him that respect.

I went to Texas A&M where these guys ran around chanting in the morning and I believe, getting a degree beforehand provides higher rankings. Maybe I’m full of shit, my husband went in at 18 and only worked it up a bit.

You're thinking about ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) which several colleges have and is used by the Army, Air Force, and Navy to train potential young men and women to become officers in one of the three branches of service I mentioned above I was enlisted myself 12 years in the Army National Guard in Indiana and deployed to Bosnia in 2004 and Iraq in 2008 when I deployed to Bosnia I spent a month in Germany then when I deployed to Iraq I spent a month in Kuwait

@@spike3082 so, am I right? They can enlist at a higher rank if they’ve gotten a bachelors degree? Why else run around Texas A&M campus chanting? Letting Revielle claim your bed if necessary?
