My first concert was hank Williams jr. I was 7 years old and went with my daddy. He bought me a pink feathered hat at that concert that I kept for 20 years. My daddy passed away in 2016, but hank Williams jr music always brings me back with him.
Dude, you have to listen to Hank Jr's song called, "All in Alabama." It's about that incident. Also, Hank's eye was knocked out of it's socket and his brain was exposed from that fall. The scarring from it is mostly why he always wears a beard and sunglasses. Johnny and June Cash visited him while he was recovering. Hank's had a pretty interesting life.
My Mom told me when he got hurt. I was just a kid. I think I was only 5 . But, I remember how upset she was. Then we went to the local country bar owned by my Grandparents friends. And everyone there were so crushed.
After hank jr fell off the mountain he went through 9 surgeries in 5 years to reconstruct his face to what it is today. That is the reason for him wearing the hat, beard amd sunglasses. After he recovered he wrote the song all in Alabama.
Country girl here...my daddy was born and raised in West Viginia, my grandaddy was a coal miner...literally grew up listening to this song, to this day i still have people askin me what a trout line is...lol gotta love them city slickers
I live in the same small town as Hank and though I don't see him often anymore I can remember having breakfast with him one day at this small convenience store my mom worked at named tacklebox when I was bout 10yrs old.... back then I didn't realize the magnitude of the event or who he actually was but I'll never forget having breakfast with a legend.
Where's your Queen??Dang it this always makes me cry. And Toby sounds just like Hank Jr. Country girls can survive too. We can do all that and cook that deer and catfish to perfection. Fry green tomatoes we growing in the yard. And know where the best moonshine is.
He wrote the song "All In Alabama" about the trip/fall from Ajax Mountain. Hank had his face and nose ripped open, exposing the skull. He was told he would never talk again, much less sing again. He still has many scars from the multiple surgeries, which is why he wears the hat, glasses, and beard. He started singing at the age of 6, and touring by age 8. Everyone wanted him to be just like his daddy and sing/performing his Dad's songs/act. After the fall he started writing his own music and did his own style...lost TONS of fans over it! He wrote the song "Family Tradition" about it. Hank Jr is a great guy and Country Boy through and through. He owns and hunts on some land not far from where I live. Very humble, despite his past and downfalls. #BuiltByBama
Country! Binds us to our humanity regardless of the progressive disregard by people courting greed and the wish to be free of accountability. Country! Lets you feel human struggle and the bonding that goes with it. Honesty, dignity, truth, strength, loyalty... core words that are fading into the past. Country music will continue to rise up and remind us of who we were and who we should be. Love it.
My grandpa made his own wine. They grew their own food and ate their own pork, beef and deer. Traded with the neighbors for what they didn't have. Those were the days. I love all kinds of music but this is what I grew up on. ..

Hank not only survived the 525 foot fall down Ajax Mt in 1975, he fell a 2nd time in 1982 about 200 ft. You need to check out Hank Jr Whiskey on Ice, right up your alley.
You gotta watch the movie “Living Proof- The Hank Williams Jr. Story”. An absolute fave of mine! It shows his beginning struggles of living in the limelight of his Dad, all the way through to fame-including the fall he took on that mountain- Great soundtrack! I love the song called “Bluesman” as well- I believe he wrote it for his girlfriend, while recovering and hiding out not wanting the World to see him after the fall- Please react to “Bluesman” and do yourself a favor and watch the movie- you’ll love it! ❤️🤘🏼✌️
I grew up on all genres. My dad loved what he called "shit kicking" country music, mom loved oldies, country, and Motown. Big bro listened to rock, other 2 bros loved rock and metal, big sis loved Beach Boys and other pop music. I love it all!
I lived this song for most of my life. Ran tractors and combines for 15 / 16 hours a day during harvest time here in south east Kansas. Spent as much time as possible chasing channel cat and flathead catfish up and down the rivers and creeks. Noodling is legal in Oklahoma 😁 . Hunting for anything in season. Partying around bonfires and even visiting the old timers and learning to make a little shine . Never take us old country boys for granted we can still turn it up when needed . Really enjoy the channel keep doing it up right .
The only reason I'm not out of my seat is because of Toby Keith. Hank Williams is a legend. I have respect for for his son and absolutely love Hank Williams III! I still gave a thumbs up... because of your reaction. And, admittedly, it is a good cover
I am big Hank jr. Fan he's one of my favorite singers I like almost everything and he did have some tragic in his life his mom put him out onstage and have him sing his daddy songs at age 8 and when he got older and old enough he wrote his own songs and started singing his songs
Much love from Kentucky! I have an unapologetic twang in my speech and I like to say my accent allows me to speak in cursive. This is one of my favorite songs and Toby’s rendition is really good! Love y’all’s reactions (even though Queen isn’t in this one lol)! Y’all are funny and very entertaining.
