what a great video ! thanks for the front lift idea. just a quick question - the steering nut spanner wrench is what size? i can't decide if to buy a 19-51 adjustble spanner or a 38-41 and if to choose a round or flat end grabbing point for the job. also, how
@RideWNC if I could make the tool, I would do it. It's silly to buy a tool for 1 time operation already, so why do it twice. I just need the spec to know what tool I need exactly
Snug. If you are worried about not getting it tight enough but not too tight, blue Loctite is your friend. Red Loctite if you want to make sure it stays until the next removal.
On the new R1 2015 or MT-10 the top bearing is different from the bottom, the top one is 55x30x17 and exists this size in tapered style, but the bottom bearing is 55x31x17 and I dont find this size 31 in tapered style, only the original grove ball size. Do you know if is any problem fitting the 55x30x17 bearing on bottom and will fit anyway? Or its better to use the original size and groove ball style on bottom and tapered style on top?
Can I ask you a question. I have a r1 5vy and recent tried changing my bearings just like you. I put the new cups in sitting correcting but my problem is the bearing on the bottom. I got my kit from my local Yamaha dealer ship and once I hammered of the bottem race I noticed it had the same code on as my new one. The new bearing doesn’t want to sit on top or be pushed on for that matter. Have they sent me the wrong one? Funny how the numbers match up on both parts but the new bearings are the new type and the old ones are original.
Without pictures I can't tell what you have. Typically dealers don't sell or install tapered roller bearings. They will sell you the OEM bearing kit. There is a difference between 2006 to 2007 the sizes changed.
How did your top dust cap sit? I have an 06 r6 and they sent me a 55mm top dust cap, while oem is 58mm. It doesn't seem to seal all the way as there is 3mm of gap. Did your top dust cap also have this gap? Thank you
@@RideWNC Yes I could, I am just wondering if I installed everything right. Do you think the bearing would still sit right? I asked all balls support and they confirmed the dust seal was 55m, not 58mm like original, perhaps oem will interfere with travel or something? But then that will just kill the new bearings as dust and water will get inside
@@RideWNC great to hear. I lightly coated the bottom bearing with "Valvoline Multi-Vehicle High Temperature Grease" as it says it is water resistant. should I go out and grab marine grease and pack em both with that instead? I haven't packed the bearings yet
Great video. Helped a lot. Thanks
How this idiot helped you when he doesn't know what the heck was doing
Tenía juego el yugo o porque se le cambiaron baleros?
thanks the saved me 1000 euros

The problem I am having a hard time understanding - - - Why wouldn't you buy both tools? You can never have too many tools.

My 2011 R1 manual calls for 113nm on the top aluminum bolt and that I know will strip it, so what would you recommend Torq wise?

@@RideWNC Hi There I managed to fined bearings (NSK) but wonder if the OEM Seals - Dust Covers will work with the new tapered roller bearing?
@@tonygroenewald7865 They should. If I remember correctly, the All Ballz kit comes with seales.
@@RideWNC How is the All-Balls kit?
@@tonygroenewald7865 As good as any of them.
What the name of the part where the calipers bolts on

It should fit close so dirt and debris don't contaminate the bearing. Just a suggestion: Can you reuse the original?

@@RideWNC but yeah the one sent will let all the dirt and debris and water by, because of the gap
@@vladniko75 The original should be OK. Use Marine grease to protect from dirt and water.
