Here is steering stem bearing replacement on enduro motorcycle Yamaha WR450F 2012. The similar procedure for most offload/mx/dirt bikes. We had problem with inner race of bottom bearing and solved it loosing the inner race by Dremel. The main reason of stuck races is water, which leads to rust. We recommend to thoroughly pack seals and bearing with grease to prevent water from entering. Also, if you drown the bike in the water - disassemble steering stem and maintenance bearings like all bearings of the bike.

I didn't realize the motion pro kit had a bearing race remover. That would've save me a lot of headache. I ended up welding a rod on the race to hit it out. The lip between the frame and race is so small, I couldn't get anything to find purchase on it.

What do you do for regular ball bearing types where the race doesn't have the upper lip?
Cut grooves with a grinder and fix the pins into the grooves.
would have been possible to cut the inner bearing race all the way and split it with a chisel ?, what is that you are using a vacuum hose?
It is very difficult or impossible, as you can touch clamp with grinder. In fact, it’s not easy to cut inner race: no space and disc has rather big diameter. You can't cut 90 degree lines only curves. Vacuum hose we use to minimize smell and dust, as we have not a workshop, but video studio.
@@Stuntex thank you very much for your reply, i am having the same problem right now with mine, I was planning to buy the tool but I can see is not worth it, I saw a video where the guy got the shaft out of the base and replaced the bearing that way, maybe that could be another solution just I don't have a shop press like the one he used, but is better to but one for the same price as the bearing extractor tool.
Where did you locate the stainless steel set screws? I just bought this tool and want to swap out the ones that come with it.
We bought it at local hardware shop.
Garbage aren't they?! All of mine snapped trying to remove the inner race on the first attempt..... Trying dremel method tomorrow

How did grinding the diagonal line make it easier to come loose?! Wouldn't you have to grind all the way through?
Not possible to grind perpendicular, because the disk would touch the triple clamp. The diagonal line makes the race weaker and able to deform.
@@Stuntex Ahhhh I see, so it's the weakness that relieves the pressure. In the end this tool proved useless for me for installing the new bearing. It comes with 4x adaptors and only 1x collar.... MotionPro don't even manufacture the collars to fit the remaining adaptors which is crazy!
