Flight Above The Clouds (Not The Real Clouds) - Dji Avata 2

- Was trying out doing a narration video trying to catch the morning sunrise and got something way more than I was looking for, flight was at Lake Winnemaug, Watertown CT with spotter(Flight was over low fog using ND filter, NOT ACTUAL CLOUDS!, the avata 2 cannot go to 30k feet lol). #avata2 #djidrone #drone #quadcopter #sunrise #epic #magical
What do you mean “not the real clouds”?? Fog is a cloud laying on the ground. If you want to know how it is to be in a cloud, just wait until fog and go out. Great footage though 👍
Come on man, you just visited heaven... one of the best videos above the clouds...
And the music, astonishing, put me inside the drone.
Well done just subbed
@chrivartorres2678 thank you, I touched a piece of heaven on that one
WHOA!!!!!!
The quickest 4:57!! FANTASTIC JOB!! THANK YOU!!
Thank you
This type of crap is the reason why our hobby is jeopardy.
@shelbyintheolds ITS LOW FOG!!!! NOT CLOUDS. READ THE DESCRIPTION!!!!
@@Dez1981 There are other rules you're still bypassing Dez. But I'm trusting that you weren't aware and will improve with time.
@@tivauhn1991 I agree, This was kind of a learning experience for me of what not to do. I want to keep it buy the book. I do not want to reflect bad on the drone community, I really enjoy this hobby

This is amazing! Thanks for posting. I'm still trying to decide which DJI drone to purchase.
@MyOutdoorWildlife Thank you, we'll you know what drone im gonna tell you to go with lol 😆 😂 flying FPV takes some practice but it's worth it for the fun of the thing.
Hw high was this?
Nice try officer
around 1000 feet

I had the opportunity of doing it years ago with heavy fog low to the ground back in Puerto Rico. There is a video of it on my channel if you like to watch.
Vídeo sensacional 🤩, o voo ficou muito bonito, show 🪽
thank you
Terrific moments great video. Very unique 😢. Thanks you
Many thanks!
Absolutely stunning cloud surf, thanks for sharing!
@ShawnG_FPV no problem dude!
In the U.K. we are locked at 120m above surface level.
@rogerhargreaves2272 same here, if you get lucky on a really low foggy day, it looks like you are above the clouds
@@Dez1981Superb footage though. Thanks for sharing. Inspirational. 👍
@@rogerhargreaves2272 thanks dude
Great video bro. I done the same with my Dji Mini 2. It felt so amazing just seeing it on my screen but would love to do it with the Avatar 2 with goggle.
@@speedywheelz7 it was an adventure
reminds me of the scene from how to train your dragon where they both go above the clouds for the first time
Definitely had a magical feel to it, reminded me of the beginning of The Never Ending Story
AWESOME BRO..😎I had a similar shot with my Mini 2 a couple of years ago..and i was blown away when i saw the sun set too!! Cant wait to try it with my Avata 2 next😋
Amazing shots 🔥! Did you have to get a waiver to fly that high?
@@DesertRat136 was only about 1000 feet, was a low foggy morning
Amazing video but the FFA states that you have to stay 500 ft below clouds. "FAA's Advisory Circular 107-2 on Section 107.51 Operating limitations for small unmanned aircraft. Minimum distance from clouds being no less than 500 feet below a cloud and no less than 2000 feet horizontally from the cloud." (Edit here if the moisture starts below 50ft it would actually be considered fog I still wouldn't recommend flying in fog as moisture can get in the drone)
agree, the condensation was building up so fast I was only able to fly a few mins before the lens was soaked. I was really worried about it shorting out the motor from the moisture and the drone taking a spill in the lake.
The sound at the end reminds me of a tie fighter 😎
I agree
Wild flight
Thank dude, I was not expecting to see that! was epic
Switching to manual when flying without any sight and artificial horizon - YIKES.
@@SpeedsterIG was a bit of a clencher
How high can your drone go
think 1600 feet is the max, this flight was around 1000 since the clouds where low
500 meters. Probably more but it is locked at 500
For those that have never been in a plane….
@@Roundawg 😄 🤣
Great video one sub for you 😊
Thank you very much!
Epic video!
Thank you!
Hope the FFA doesnt see this, way huge fines for doing it
@stephenstrange4813 This is not above the actual clouds, it's over a low fog, you can see the roof of my car during the flight. Will be the last video like this. I never expected people to think I was able to fly a drone that high! Then post it on RUclips!
@@Dez1981 I'm thinking he might be referring to flying without a VO or low visibility.
WTF..Thats amzing mate..just got my av 2 been playing with it..its very good ....i think
Thanks man! you will be ripen through the clouds in no time. I recommend learning how to fly in manual mode, but you will have to practice on a simulator first
@@Dez1981 Cheers mate...ill wait for the clouds to lower here in Ireland....shouldnt be too long ffs
now THAT is an epic shot. i can't express how jealous i am of you man
@@SourceSK thank you for your jellyness 😀
Hey there's may I ask what the main camera you're using? It looks nice
Thank you! That is the stock camera on the avata 2, dji 04, 4K 60 FPS with a ND filter
Oh my goooood!!! Look at this!!!!! 😍
Thank you
Great flight👍🏽 max altitude avata 2?
1600 feet
That was amazing! Everyone should see this
Thank you vary much!
Great shots above the fog, brother. It's every drone pilot's dream of flying above the clouds. Nice work!
Thanks man
That was awesome, good music choice!!! I did one like this with the skyscrapers of Toronto poking through the clouds. Like # 242
@@ORGANIZEDCoNfUsioN thank you
WOW Amazing shots, like you were in heaven ! hope to one day get a shot like this with low hanging fog. you nailed it though !!!!!! must have felt amazing !!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Was the last thing I expected, thought I was just going for a foggy morning rip, the BAM!
Nice view!!! I almost thought you were Ben Foster for a moment 😅
lol Thanks, Nope its just, Dez
Nice view ! And the first time flying above the cloud is a unforgettable memory for every drone pilot!
it definitely was a level up moment in my drone game!
@@Dez1981 and how to hack the hight limit?
@@foxcsong2389 No Hack used, that flight was about 1000 feet, the cloud layer was super low that morning that let me get the shot.
@foxcsong2389 no hight limit hack, clouds super low that morning because of the low fog
Absolutely awesome! Nothing like dawn or sunrise flights, and to get that high, wow! I've got into the clouds at 750m and it was an experience with my DJI FPV. New subscriber mate, well done.
Thanks man!
Amazing video my friend absolutely loved it 😁

Nice work. Slick with style!!

That is EPIC! A total dream to fly above low clouds like that into the sunset!!

Wow awesome video bro! what is your settings on manual mode btw?
center sensitivity Roll = 120 pitch = 120 yaw = 140 max rate 600, 650, 520 Expo 0.56 Camera set to manual 4k 60fps with a low ISO and ND filter
That's amazing dude lucky !
Thank you
Is that really possible? Or you just upgrade ur avata 2's flight range and some stuff? Cuz its really amaizing💯👌
No upgrades, just got lucky with the low clouds
Oh nicee. Cuz im planning to buy avata 2 this december. Good thing ur video pops out on my recommended videos🙌
Good thing you have the home beacon in your goggles. I would think it would be much harder to get your orientation without it. Nice views!
I did this myself with the Avata 2 on a mountain recently above the clouds. You couldnt safely do this without that nice big "H" in your goggles LOL. Im not sure Im crazy about it doing it to often. Clouds are water sooooo I dont want the moisture getting in.
Definitely would of been screwed with out it! Could not see anything when I came back down, finally saw the lines in the road that gave me idea where I was
Very nice!!
Thank you
Wow man, the best Avata 2 video I've seen.
Thanks man! means a lot
So cool!!!!!

How did you bypass the altitude cap? I am assuming these DJI have an altitude restriction.
@Sleeperknot got lucky this morning, there was a low fog, I just flew above it

un controlled air space u can go that high but faa might not like u after it

@@soundmanmartin thank man!
None of you seem to be aware of the legal height restriction of 400’. Or VLOS of 1500’. What happens if a helicopter sucks that into an intake?
There where no helicopters a few hundred feet off the lake that morning. The Avata 2 automatically caps your height to what's legal in the zone you are flying in at the time. You can clearly see the roof of my car through the fog layer when doing my orbits, which means my spotter has a clear VLOS to my drone. With a ND filter and some camera settings can make the FOG LAYER look like clouds as if you are in an airplane. What happed here is PPL took the title seriously and really think I few a tiny drone up to the cloud layer!
@@Dez1981I have an Avata and it will top out at whatever you set it at like any other drone. There’s no special juju. What range and height did you fly to? Again - you need to maintain VLOS within a maximum radius of 1500 feet if safe. Flying into fog is not VLOS.
@@simonludgate721 cant say exactly, but what I do know is, This was kind of a learning experience for me of what not to do. I want to keep it buy the book. I do not want to reflect bad on the drone community, I really enjoy this hobby
