Did a full delete with a H&S tuner on my 2011 F-350 Lariat SD at 150,000 miles. This is a work truck where I tow 12 k regularly. Zero issues , mileage gain is up 4 mpg on average and the extra power for towing is a plus.
Maybe it just for off-road use in Mexico. ;-) I find it funny in Mexico the 5 border states have to use ultra low sulfur diesel but the rest of the country runs first cut off the cat cheap diesel.
Egr went out on my 2017 f550. Went out 3 days ago the dealership was supposed to have it overnighted. Went and talked to them today still don't have the part. Just gonna go ahead and delete it.
Great video! I’ve got a 2017 250 Platinum. I have 2 questions: 1. Can the EGR clog up if it is just left unplugged. 2. Did you drain your DEF tank or leave whatever was in it there? Did you have to drain the DEF injector line?
The DEF changes nitrogen oxide (NOx) to water vapor and nitrogen. I'll be interested in the twisted, State of California logic that makes water and nitrogen worse than NOx. The only thing you voided on the warranty would be issues with the engine because it is no longer stock. Ford will warranty the remainder of the vehicle for 3 years or 36,000 miles as the deletes and tuner have nothing to do with something like a window regulator, seat motor etc. I'm sure you saw the warning sticker at the front of the radiator area stating that modifications to the motor or pollution control equipment voids the warranty on the motor. BTW - in 40 years of owning Ford vehicles, I've never had them argue or deny a warranty issue. In fact, they have reimbursed me for costs I have incurred on a trip when I had an issued that had to be serviced by an independent mechanic. Specifically, on a 1988 F350 the disc brake caliper pistons were stainless steel and transmitted heat to the brake fluid causing a partial brake failure by boiling the brake fluid. I had the brake system bled and flushed, and new fluid installed by a mechanic so I could continue on the trip. Ford reimbursed the cost of the work and parts, and then did a warranty repair to the entire brake system replacing the stainless pistons with phenolic pistons, flushed the brake system and filled it with new fluid.
Drove a 2011 Peterbilt with the ART head system on the CAT C13. Before the delete, barely could do 100 kph loaded. Had to fuel up every 2 days. After the delete, could cruise fully loaded at 120 mph and could go 4 days before fueling up. What a difference. In 4 1/2 years I put on 1,200,000 kms on the truck from new. Best mod ever!
The dealer is the best thing you can do to the 6.7. The EGR and DEF ruins the motors, go to Powerstroke help and look at 6.7 that haven’t been deleted look like. The cross sections in the cylinders are smooth after 150.000 to 200.000 miles. My 7.3 has 340,000 with no pressure drops.
The King Ranch and Platinum trims are not different as far as sound levels go. They have the same insulation and same glass. Otherwise good video. Thanks
It’s not just FORD, it’s GM and Fiat as well. They will find a way to not Warranty if the truck has been tuned or modded in any way. Now, the Moss act helps but if you tamper with Certain things then it’s on you. I’ve been lucky enough to find certain dealers that are “cool”, but even then if you come in with a blown motor, Turbo, or Tranny, then they have to go through Manufactors Warranty and a Inspector will come and inspect a large warranty claim. So it’s not just Ford, oh and that’s all I’ll own is a Ford Truck. They’ve always taken care of me and I’ve had 5 deleted strokes and not one problem.
I have a new Ram and had the system deleted at 2k miles. The average diesel engine with the Egr and def on average with last just a little over 300K which is not acceptable when these trucks are averaging $70k. You can get on line and see the Ram specs for their diesel. It's refered to a B10 and a B50 rating.
@@johnswigler6512 Im about to hit 2k on my 19' 2500 Lar. and really torn between waiting out the warranty or just pulling the trigger now. Who did you go with tuner wise and I know you said to go research it but what are you referring to in regards to the B10/B50? Thanks and congrats on the truck
@@drewjames8594 I'm in Indiana. B10 rating is at 250k there could be as much as 10% wear on engine parts and a B50 rating is as much as 50% wear at 350k. That's not acceptable when these engines should be getting close to a million miles. These are factory ratings wit stock def and egr
Noah Bouchard yeah I have 2012 f350 and I was looking at the ezlynk and it said that. I wasn’t sure if they were just saying that or they actually had that which I guess they do. That sucks cause I heard the ppei tunes were really good
I have had a similar system on my 12 and have had no issues at all. I also did it at around the same mileage as you. 6.7 is a great engine. My only issues was boost tubes because they are plastic. Morimoto makes nice aluminum ones
With the new emissions enforcement coming I'm kinda worried. My 2011 f350 is deleted and a dot officer friend of mine told me that if I get pulled over and checked I'll get a 4 thousand dollar fine and have to take my truck to a dealer and get it put back factory which costs 5 thousand. I'm not sure what I need to do. I live in Texas by the way.
I have a 17 lariat I want to delete but am concerned about the smog in cali how are you going to take it in to get smoged are you just plugging in your egr And re programming???

I deleted my 2014, F 250. Best decision ever. It ran way better but it did seem like the transmission shifted way harder. I screwed up and sold the truck and I was worried when I traded it in that they would give me way less because of it. I was shocked when they didn’t even mention it to me when they appraised it. That truck had SO MUCH more power. Sport mode was insane. I would love to get another one.
So, almost straight off the lot and the first thing you do is strip off the emissions system? You gave them plenty of reasons to void your warranty on the truck. Next question here is what did you do to the ST to have the issues you did?
Egr is what you need off more than the def system, nothing like shitty ass air being put back in the in the intake over and over , you won’t be able to smog it any way now
Awesome truck.....not my truck but if it was me I would find an extra stock pipe and completely hollow it out to make it look as stock as possible....you never know with those CHP
Let me put it to you like they told me. Yes it does void your warranty...on your emissions equipment. Well you deleted it so theres nothing to worry about.
Agreed, the vehicle manufacturers have handed the public a complete time bomb and maintenance hog when it comes to late model Diesel engines. However, using a tuner to change the timing and fuel that adds black smoke is a sign of an ill mix of air and fuel. Selecting #5 or the highest tune for HP will require some time and miles to fully know if they are worth their expense. After about a few years and 100,000 miles, let us know you things are doing on this truck. The fines are rather stiff for emissions alterations, at the third fine, they confiscate the entire truck until you pay some hellish fine of tens of thousands. Lets do another review once the truck has 100,000 on it.
Be very careful running it on #5 when towing or hauling. A lot of the tunes you buy have to much timing advance in them, and the result is a bent or broken rod or piston. You can completely destroy your engine with the wrong tune.

Great video! I’ve watched several times now. Question, did you install an EGR blocking plate, or just unplug it? I can’t find a consistent answer if a plate is actually needed if you plan to leave the EGR in tact.
The only problem with unplugging the egr is it could open causing damage, it's better to put the plates in and remove them when you need to inspect it.

How do you get a 6 year smog pass?? I live in So Cal and own a 2017 Super Duty Platinum and have to smog it for this year. Diesel in California has to be smog checked every 2 years is what the dmv told me after sending me a letter saying I needed a smog! I thought I got a 5 year pass because it was a new truck but nope. So how do you get a 6 year pass from smog??
@@CaliMotoTVThanks for your quick reply. I just got off the phone with dmv, and they told me over the phone and showed me on the dmv website the new law. They also pointed out that this law is only for gas powered vehicles and does not apply to diesel which requires a smog check after 2 years which is why my 2017 is needing a smog check this year. Please let me know if you find anything that allows diesel to pay abatement fees. Thanks!

Nice truck Bill! Sorry to hear about your terrible experience with that Ford dealership, scoundrels! Are you expecting any issues with smog after the DEF delete, or strictly EGR? I bought 2018 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel Laramie last October and absolutely love the truck. It's got the baby diesel 3.0L and towed a 7K lb toy hauler to Buttonwillow for 3/11 up Hwy 33 like a champ. Would like to DEF delete or tune, but hesitant due smog
@@CaliMotoTV Good point, didn't realize it was 8 years. I'll probably keep mine intact for awhile since I prepaid for 10 oil changes. Make sure you clean your def tank out and spray through some stabil in your def injector or remove and clean it ....because once you try to mount it back up and use it.....that def will have destroyed the def pump, def injector(s) and the tank will have crystallized......trust me....no bueno
Still running alright? Going to do mine soon :D
Cali Moto TV any mpg increase ??
i just purchased a 2003 7.3 diesel.
maybe DEF should never have been implemented. maybe. need to do some research...
Man thanks for the info I am looking at the pros and cons of this process. Just FYI, ford is replacing my heated steering wheel on my 2017 F450 King Ranch. The warranty is going to cover it but the replacement cost for our steering wheels off warranty is $3,000...
Please tell how you have a six year period before smog on new diesel vehicle in Cali? Diesel vehicles are not gasser in which it’s every two years from the get go with diesel vehicles, not six like gas new vehicles.
James Miller Yup you’re right. I was surprised when I bought my first new diesel a few years ago and had to smog it after 2 years.
Nice truck! Ford is not the problem it's your dealer on your car issue I would go through some hoops to try to get ahold of actual Ford Company keep the dealer out of it sounds like they're not any good for your problem you're having I have an old-school 2000 7.3 but if I got a new one I would delete it before I got it home along with a different turbo and it should sound great but I'm from Michigan so I don't have to worry about the EPA nice truck! Again for it is not your problem it's your local dealer Ford beats Chevy and Dodge any day...
17' F250 55K been thinking about doing a delete, engine light came on this weekend, took it to F?!^ and low and behold, the DEF tank heater is bad...this is not a warranty item(BS) Blue Oval knew what they were doing here. Time for a delete!
Why’d you wait soo long to delete it?? 🤷♂️
He wanted more power and less parts to worry going wrong.
I have a 2019 f250 leveled 3in up front on 37s and did mine at 1400 miles. Going on 5k miles and all is great. These trucks are monsters.
What are the pros and cons n deleting a diesel ? I just bought new f250
So, one year later what’s the verdict?
Thanks dude, I want to delete mine because I’m having issues with the exhaust system. Thanks for the reply.
Yea ram wont warranty a clutch on a g56 or anything else that can be called wear items and all they have to do is say bad def and youre stuck paying the bill to get it fixed
600 Miles here... and I agree Ford want help! They do anything they can to get out of what’s right. If you did PPEI tho save for transmission
Sweet ride! Wondering what the plan for pre-smog (or after video :-)) would be? Are you keeping the old assy for re-install and plug back EGR? How much time and effort would be required? Keep up the good work. Thank-You.
Move to Texas you won’t have to do that. Leave it off and roll some coal!
Thanks!
What MPG are you getting post delete
Could I delete my big truck bc I'm not driving it in Cali?
Super NOVA it’s federal regulations. Cali is more stringent about it tho.
@@shobney I heard other people deleting their big trucks I'm just wondering if if I could do that to mine with out DOT messing with me
If I were a betting man, they’d probably mess with ya. Where I’m at, not a worry in the world.
What the name of Turner an what the highest horsepower it comes with
So are only the FORD diesels sold in California have the DEF system?
THEY ALL HAVE DEF SYSTEMS IT IS A FEDERAL MANDATE
What weight(s) have you towed with it so far? & is there much smoke when towing?
I tow a 10k pound fifth wheel with my deleted 2011 f250 and it does smoke when ya really get on it. But if ya take it easy it's very minimal.
@@TheDannyvincent I had a 2011 6.7 that was deleted using the H&S Mini Max, it hardly smoked at all on any of the power levels. Most I towed was around 7k lbs but still no smoke. Being as his smoked without towing I wanted to know if it does while towing as well
Just got my lariat f250.2019
Thinking about doing a delete but my 100k warranty is killing me..after dropping 80k.
Dropped a house payment on a truck and worry about warranty. #1stworldproblems
OK I had a I had a 2013 350 and 79,000 miles I had to replace the particular later at a cost of $4500 I just don’t feel that that particular item on the truck is working properly can I have heard that the variety of other people have had to replace their particular later however I have not been able to find out what mileage they had on their truck I have since sold the truck because I feel that I cannot afford to spend another $4500 it may be 150,000 miles good luck to anybody that has that truck although I have stayed with Ford I have a 150 more like a car than a truck
Also happy to have the 95 speed limiter gone
David Hamilton 96*
Not bad! My emissions intact non-deleted L5P Duramax with just the Banks Derringer & Banks Intake does 14.06-14.09 in the 1/4 mile and 5.75s 0-60. Easily in the high 12’s if I would delete & actually tune but it appears those days are over.
What timer are you using?
i had a 2017 and i had to smog after the first year i had it 2 years and smogged it then had a ford buy back on it because of front suspension
Topping off the DEF tank is cheap, so I don't mind it, but there's an EGR cooler that circulates coolant and the seal has failed on a handful of people, wreaking havoc. Hope FCA holds up their end of the warranty if there's an issue.
I deleted my 11 F350, no regrets. I'm about to delete my 17 F350. I had the same issue with Ford with a gt500. Nightmare
Going to do an EGR delete also?
Time to get some armour to cover the underside of that truck
