Concerning Storm Eagle, it's interesting when you realize that he wasn't infected with the virus, and most of his attacks aren't lethal. He mostly tries to knock you off the ship.

I find Tornado Tonion LEAST annoying in his cutscene before X fights him, because it sounds as if it should be paired with a changed voice set in the fight itself.
And the other ironic thing is that when it comes to the worst Mavericks, #15 was from X4, and then when it comes to the best Mavericks, #15 was from X7, and when I came to #1, it switched between the two games.
I like boomer kuwanger and i HATE spark mandrill. Ice is way too powerful against Spark mandrill. I get it though. penguin first and then they basically lead you into trying out your first special weapon ability on a boss. They wanted it to be abundantly clear that boss not only had a big damage multiplier weakness but also in most cases a mechanic that directly counters inability and changes the fight for example scissors to cut off launch octopuses missile shooting tentacles, electricity removes armored armadillos dildo, fire stuns and decimates chill penguin which is often overlooked because people typically play him first. I don't play him first though I play storm Eagle first you get an immediate sub tank and an upgrade. Then I go flame mammoth just because of how satisfying it is to use against chill penguin. This is a playthrough for fun not speed. If I were playing for Speed I would go chill penguin first because of Dash. You have to revisit the levels once you get the dash ability but it's very quick since you can just exit once they've been cleared. You need the dash in the very beginning of storm eagle, you also need it to bust into the ceiling on flame mammoth and to make the left jump similar to storm Eagles around the conveyor belt part.... you also need the dash for cheeky heart containers like the upper right corner one on Spark Mandrill, the outside Tower heart on Boomer and I'm sure I'm forgetting one

Dark Mantis' stage is great for one other reason: The fact that it has the D-GLAIVE, THE MOST BROKEN WEAPON IN EXISTENCE WHEN PAIRED WITH ZERO'S WEAPON FROM THE BOSS.

Fun fact, Storm Eagle's stage actually affects Spark Mandrill's stage in a similar way to chill penguin-flame mammoth. (Before beating Storm eagle) the opening can be a wee bit challenging for newcomers as you have to worry about electric shocks on the ground as well as the enemies. (After beating storm eagle) the start of the stage is badly damaged and the floor won't shock you, instead the lights will switch on and off similar to a later section of the same level.

I definitely agree with your list! Especially #1! But one of my favorites is Web Spider from X4. When I played the game, I fought him for two reasons. One, he was a spider, and I hate spiders. And two, SPIDERS ARE EASY TO KILL IN REAL LIFE. I loved his stage, too. Great color and even better music! The boss fight was cool, too. And the weapon you get creates wall platforms. And the cherry on the cake? He has the most easy upgrade ever. You know where it is just by moving in the stage. :)

My reaction to no.1: YESSSSSSS!!! Seriously, Magma Dragoon was the first maverick I went to from my first Megaman game EVER!! Dragons are bitchin, he has the moveset from my favorite street fighter, Akuma. And the best level in X4 if not, the whole series. Super useful weapons and theres more than one way to fight Dragoon. I knew he was no.1. Its a predictable choice but I don't care. BEST MAVERICK EVER!! Can you imagine if he used the raging demon? Damn.
His other attacks also references the Yoga Fire and one of Gill's Super Arts and if you look closely around Magma Dragoon's chest, it even has the EXACT SAME kanji that appears on Akuma's back after killing someone with the Raging Demon
Have you ever played ZX advent? It's a pretty decent Mega Man game, would recommend it if you can get passed rather cheesy diolouge. The bosses are awesome in my opinion, except for one, and the two modes, beginner and normal, might as well be called "Walk in the park" and "Almost suicide", and the checkpoint system is really stupid in normal mode, but I would still play it despite these flaws.
Mine just think Magna Centipede is the Best in X2 and Blast Hornet is the Best in X3 because There Boss Fight’s are the Best in the games so they are my Favourites.

Edit: I have now played X8. This is my Top 8 Favorite Mavericks. However, I'm not including Storm Eagle or Magma Dragoon. This isn't based on the games. This is based on MAvericks. After playing X8, there was A Maverick I liked more than Squid Adler but I still prefer Flame Stag. 8. MMX7, Snipe Anteator. I like the Mavericks in X7 overall, it's not the best set but still pretty good to me and has some positive things about them, even Flame Hyenard has a pretty awesome design to me, (except for Wind Crowrang I hate Wind Crowrang). But first, I love the design choice for Snipe Anteator (Capcom is great at spelling, clearly). It fits well. My only gripe with him is his stage. What does it have to do with Sniping, or Anteaters? What is up with the Cyberspace? His fight while IMO is the hardest Maverick in X7, it's still pretty fun. As much as how annoying his barrage missile attack is, I love the challenge provided from it. His weapon is pretty good. I love how powerful the Snipe Missile is (weird name though). 7. MMX4, Storm Owl. Quarter Guy pretty much explains in the video. 6. MMX6, Infinity Mijinion. Awesome design choice here. Not to mention, I love playing through his stage. I feel like I'm almost as quick if not quicker than Quick Man when I blaze through the stage. His weapon is one of my personal favorites. I don't know why, I just love derping around with this thing. My only gripe with this guy is that his boss fight is pretty annoying. Unless you shoot him to where his clones are off screen, the screen will be littered with Bubbles. They are very annoying to avoid. Otherwise, this guy is amazing. 5. MMX1, Launch Octopus. Again, Quarter Guy explains it all. 4. MMX3, Volt Catfish. First off, his design. I love. It's perfectly fitting for him. And his stage is a pretty fun stage but the 2nd half is where it starts feeling more electric. With all the sparks around, it's a pretty tricky stage but not too bad once memorized. Volt Catfish himself, like a lot of Mavericks, his weakness makes him completely non-threatening. But without it, he's definitely in my opinion the hardest of the 8 Mavericks in X3. It's not the 1st phase of the fight though, His first phase is easy. Very easy to dodge attacks. The 2nd phase is where it gets hard for me. One, the sparks are completely random at where they go. Shooting one side of his shield makes it slightly easier to avoid him when he rams after you very quickly, but not that easy to avoid. He's all about timing. Very difficult fight but very fun one at that (I'm stubborn about taking damage by the way). And his weapon is my favorite from X3. The Triad Thunder. A triangle formation of electricity circling me, and powerful against enemies, yeah I love this thing. Otherwise, I'm surprised this guy didn't make it onto your list Quarter Guy. 3. MMX5, Squid Adler. Yeah, I like Squid Adler. As usual, awesome design choice. Anyways, as for his stage, I personally find his stage quite interesting. The Ride Chaser Section at the beginning for me is not hard. Why do people think that section is so difficult? It's not that bad once it's memorized. I like how electricity is utilized in this stage, It's quite nice. Especially the sections with the doors you need to unlock. I like synchronizing them to the music. As for Squid Adler himself, he's in my opinion the hardest Maverick in X5. His 1st phase is pretty easy. Not very hard to dodge attacks and a simple pattern. It's his 2nd phase where he's an issue. It's not that he makes blocks that get in your way, it's not that some of said blocks are electrified giving another obstacle, it's not that he moves very quickly, it's not that he can electrify the floor, and it's not that he does his desperation attack without warning very quickly and that's difficult to avoid. It's that he does ALL OF THESE THINGS AT ONCE! My god this fight is hard. Still a fun fight overall though. And his weapon, it's basically the Thunder Beam, Mega Man X edition. If you liked the Thunder Beam, you'll like this weapon. I love Squid Adler. 2. MMX8, Burn Rooster. I think I'm the only one that likes Burn rooster the most of the X8 Mavericks. First, I love his design. It really fits him well. Then there's his stage. The only reason he isn't on the #1 spot is because of the auto-scrolling sections. I fin those sections somewhat boring. But everything else, I love it. The rooms with countless amounts of enemies to destroy, the pipes, and especially the escape part with the rising lava. I loved that part with a passion and had a blast throughout this stage. But my favorite part about him is his fight. Obviously with his weakness he's easy. But without it, I consider him the 2nd hardest Maverick in X8 (well, Boss Fight wise). The 1st phase isn't too bad. It's just reaction really. It's the 2nd phase. Moving terrain, his attacks become harder to dodge and harder to react to as a result. And his desperation attack I consider to be somewhat reliant on reflexes (like a lot of Fire Based Mavericks, except for Flame Mammoth, Mattrex, and Flame Hyenard). I still love the challenge this fight brings me. And he has a pretty useful weapon as well. Fair amount of ammo, and it does decent damage. As much as I love this guy, I consider #1 to be even better. 1. MMX2, Flame Stag. This guy is amazing. My god I love Flame Stag. Design as usual is pretty cool A deer with antlers ON FIRE! Then there's his stage. It's a fun stage overall. The lava isn't instant death. I like that a lot. And it carries the theme of fire pretty well. Gas tanks that can get set on fire by the Morgons (the Squirrels). It's a very fast stage. Fast stages mean fast bosses. And I don't mean he goes down quickly. He does not (unless you use his weakness of course). He is a complete, and total, spazz. He'll go up and down the walls, but wherever he lands and whatever attack he decides to do is completely random. He can either use his Speed Burner, use his Fire Punches, or decide to scale the walls again (very difficult to avoid if he's close to you). And if that doesn't help, he can uppercut up the wall whenever he wants. Sometimes he does it, other times he doesn't do it. DO NOT TRY TO PREDICT HIS MOVES, EVER! And when he's at half health, his antlers turn blue, and he and his attacks get stronger AND faster. Yeah. He's definitely the 2nd hardest Maverick for me in X2. Still a very fun battle. His Speed Burner is an amazing weapon. It's fast, it's powerful, and it's great for speedrunning. Overall, Flame Stag is my personal favorite Maverick (not counting Magma Dragoon). This is of course my opinion. Edit: After thinking about it for awhile, I actually discovered how much I'm not a fan of Magma Dragoon. I'll admit his design is pretty cool and he has a nice weapon and interesting fight with how he works. But his stage kills it for me. Mostly the 2nd half. The Meteors, the Raidens, the Lava, and the extremely precis jumps. With the ride Armor, it's not that bad, but if you're like me and you want a REAL challenge, you're not gonna use the Ride Armor. So yeah, I do not like his stage.
I never found Magma Dragoon's stage that hard, even without the Ride Armor, but yeah there's A LOT of shit you have to look out for so I can understand that. It's actually my favorite stage in the series, even though X4 is only my 2nd favorite X game. Very short and fast paced, but has a lot of good stuff packed into it. That's how I like my MMX stages.

Well Dragoon also is a distinct refernce to both Frieza and Berus from DBZ and DBS what with his actions, his personality and he uses the death ball attack mixed with the sphere of destruction.
I love _everything_ about Yammark: stage, music, boss fight, design, weapon... makes X6 a little less hair-yanking to play (the OG version, not the Tweaks mod).
Aaaw I'm a bit dissapointed that Mattrex wasn't on here. I mean, he's a fucking Fire Robot T-Rex!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! OwO That being said, I've never played a Mega Man X game. I'm sure you had good reasons to not include him. I just talk from a design standpoint :P
From someone who played the games, I'd say he's the best maverick in X5. I really liked his level, his weapons were good, his battle was alright and I think I don't even have to say anything about his design. :D

roberto alonso I can agree to that. I think X6 worked well with Zero but NOT WITH X. It suffered the Megaman & Bass syndrome but less painful (Bass can easily blend well with the level design and bosses but NOT Megaman.) I wonder if ppl can actually play that game as megaman and didn't cream "Bullshit" in every 5 seconds.
Magma Dragoon has been and always will be my #1 Maverick. His design was a nice touch even if they were traits with Street Fighter. If they gave him Akuma's "Die 1000 Deaths" ultimate it would have been scary to see him perfect it in a fire-base version.

I'm a bit miffed that only one X3 representative made the list when 2 from X2 made it on, but I'm grateful you put my favorite maverick ever on there (X3 is my favorite in the series and I have played X-X4 and will soon play X5 and X6 but I don't know if I'll ever play X8 and I will never play X7)

In the toxic seahorse enttry, at one point, it kind of sounded like you said "Ass bubbles" also, is it just me, or do the bouncing acid bubbles look like the Chaos Sphere from Shovel Knight?
Actually with gravity beetle, instead of using screen wide gravity, he instead uses compressed gravity and black holes, which limits gravity. So he doesn't have obvious control, he still has it.

Flame Stag, predictable? Really? He's FAR from predictable. For me, whenever I fight him, it feels like one of those very unpredictable spazzes. The fact that whatever he does when he lands on the ground is completely up to him. Whether being using his Speed Burner, using his Fire Punches, or him deciding to jump up the walls again. Very difficult to dodge if he does that when he lands close to you. Also, his attack where he uppercuts up the walls, he does it whenever he wants to. Sometimes he uses it, other times he won't use it. And it doesn't help that when he's at half health, he and his attacks become stronger AND faster. Flame Stag is by far the 2nd hardest Maverick in X2 for me. I don't care what some may say. Yeah, he's pathetically easy with his weakness, but Buster Only is a different story. Also, call me weird but I find Armored Armadillo easier than Chill Penguin.
Here's a tip: after he lands, get on the wall and dash jump off of it just before he gets on the same wall as you and return quickly afterwards so that he won't use his uppercut attack. The punches can also be dodged this way. It makes him one of the easiest mavericks in the series.
can't wait too see what you got so lets see here: 15.i have a feeling another one from that game is on this list since it's one of the few (and i mean FEW in the game that is good) like the stage minus a few mini bosses *cough* the jet plane but still great fight and a VERY useful weapon against your worst maverick (and no i'm not gonna mention him because we all hate him) 14.this is how you make a gravity level and based boss i agree it's a fun fight though anoying at times without the weakness weapon that is but a good fight none the less and decent weapon though not my favorite thats for sure 13. Another great list man. Cant comment on all of them, having only played till x4, so ill do the top three 3- defenitly my fav in the original. Awsome level and boss desing whit a sweet music to go along. Fight preety easy as i recently rediscovered by playing the original again, especially with is weakness. Cool weapon though, even if i prefer the one from the cameleon. 2- this guy pwd me more times than i can count, especially when playing Zero or on the only buster chalenge. On the mavericks the most chalenging one on X4. The stage is really cool too, and certanly chanlenging as well. 1 - Could not agree more. By far my favourite X series boss, bringing the right level of chalenge and awsome combined. I do think thoug that his patterns is very easy to predict and dodge, think only took me a couple trys, but other than that, oure awsome.
I'm currently playing through all of the X games (I bought the X collection on the PS2, as well as X7 and X8), and seeing the games for myself because of these lists. Currently, I'm at X6, and my favorite Maverick is Mattrex, from X5, and my least favorite, thus far, is Blaze Heatnix, form X6.

X6 is not bad at all. Hard as hell, sure. Level designs are ridiculous. But it just makes it more challenging. I enjoy it. Plus it has the best soundtrack and armor system. I mean… like Quarter Guy said “It’s so much better than X7”.
If we're talking about level design, X4 was worse in my opinion. You could say that they fucked up the story, but gamewise it was a pretty amazing game.

My most favorite maverick is from X6 it's Avalanche Wolffang though I will admit the ice physics in his stage were annoying. And if we ever do get Megaman X9 here's an idea for a maverick Shadow Lioness this idea would be cool for two reason one we've never had a female maverick in the series, and two her concept could be a kunoichi/female ninja who uses the shadow element. And being a lioness she should obviously have some sort of grasslands-esque stage and a regal yet still well-liked honorable personalty.

So there's a fight that I feel like suffers greatly from having a horrible stage, that being Metal Shark Player in X6. His fight is intense, fast-paced, and challenging, and you get a pretty good weapon. But hot damn does his level _suck._

Top 11 personal favorite X series mavericks: 11.Cyber Peacock: a pretty flashy design, an ok stage and yet still not threatening and an average boss fight 10. Gravity Antonian: his stage is fun and his boss fight is at least slightly challenging 9. Matrexx: a cool design, a fun fight and a nice weapon 8. Dark Mantis: 2 words, Ninja Inspiration. 7. Overdrive ostrich: 2 more words, beep beep 6. Flame Stag: a VERY cool design with an amazingly useful weapon 5. Storm Eagle: a good stage and one of the most symbolic boss fights in the series 4. Storm Owl: a good stage and one of the best boss fights in the series 3. Magma Dragoon (the fan favorite Akuma reference) a nice stage, wonderful design, well done references, pure plot relevance and a fantastic boss fight 2. Dark Dizzy: A bat based enemy that isn't Dracula based, a cool fight, fun design, awesome weapons and a hint of backstory 1. The Skiver: THE Maverick of the sky who pretty much perfected the "Storm" concept with enough originality to stand on his own 2 feet, a well designed and all around cool airforce base, he himself is a nod to X4 which I love, he has an awesome design and is the only Pegasus maverick in the series, he has a fantastic stage theme and in my opinion he was one of the main shining highlights of megaman X5 and if you play as Zero it becomes one of the more challenging fights in the series and his dialogue against Zero is very interesting and shows a connection between Skiver, Iris and Zero and he makes you think about what he was like before going maverick and you can't help but think about X4's lore and what Skiver was doing during the game. All of this makes The Skiver easily my favorite maverick in Megaman X.
I've just started playing the MMXLC1+2. I'm finally getting the chance to experience 4-8. Really enjoying the 4th game so far. Not sure if I should bother with X7 with as much vitriol as it gets by well, damn near everybody.
I always miss Slash Beast in these lists, for me, he was more badass than Storm Owl and after Magma Dragoon, he is my favorite Maverick of all time. Missed Spike Rosered too, as well i missed Blizzard Wolfang.
Flame Stag. Another reason he's awesome is because once he turns up the heat and goes blue, he will uppercut you several stories into the air, catch up with you, and slam you all the way down into the ground. Try it. It is fun! ... did Magma Dragoon slay Akuma and take his beaded necklace? Could he be the true heir and master of the Ansatsuken in 21XX?!

Concerning Storm Eagle, it's interesting when you realize that he wasn't infected with the virus, and most of his attacks aren't lethal. He mostly tries to knock you off the ship.

I like boomer kuwanger and i HATE spark mandrill. Ice is way too powerful against Spark mandrill. I get it though. penguin first and then they basically lead you into trying out your first special weapon ability on a boss. They wanted it to be abundantly clear that boss not only had a big damage multiplier weakness but also in most cases a mechanic that directly counters inability and changes the fight for example scissors to cut off launch octopuses missile shooting tentacles, electricity removes armored armadillos dildo, fire stuns and decimates chill penguin which is often overlooked because people typically play him first. I don't play him first though I play storm Eagle first you get an immediate sub tank and an upgrade. Then I go flame mammoth just because of how satisfying it is to use against chill penguin. This is a playthrough for fun not speed. If I were playing for Speed I would go chill penguin first because of Dash. You have to revisit the levels once you get the dash ability but it's very quick since you can just exit once they've been cleared. You need the dash in the very beginning of storm eagle, you also need it to bust into the ceiling on flame mammoth and to make the left jump similar to storm Eagles around the conveyor belt part.... you also need the dash for cheeky heart containers like the upper right corner one on Spark Mandrill, the outside Tower heart on Boomer and I'm sure I'm forgetting one

Fun fact, Storm Eagle's stage actually affects Spark Mandrill's stage in a similar way to chill penguin-flame mammoth.
(Before beating Storm eagle) the opening can be a wee bit challenging for newcomers as you have to worry about electric shocks on the ground as well as the enemies.
(After beating storm eagle) the start of the stage is badly damaged and the floor won't shock you, instead the lights will switch on and off similar to a later section of the same level.

I definitely agree with your list! Especially #1! But one of my favorites is Web Spider from X4. When I played the game, I fought him for two reasons. One, he was a spider, and I hate spiders. And two, SPIDERS ARE EASY TO KILL IN REAL LIFE. I loved his stage, too. Great color and even better music! The boss fight was cool, too. And the weapon you get creates wall platforms. And the cherry on the cake? He has the most easy upgrade ever. You know where it is just by moving in the stage. :)

Seriously, Magma Dragoon was the first maverick I went to from my first Megaman game EVER!! Dragons are bitchin, he has the moveset from my favorite street fighter, Akuma. And the best level in X4 if not, the whole series. Super useful weapons and theres more than one way to fight Dragoon.

Have you ever played ZX advent? It's a pretty decent Mega Man game, would recommend it if you can get passed rather cheesy diolouge. The bosses are awesome in my opinion, except for one, and the two modes, beginner and normal, might as well be called "Walk in the park" and "Almost suicide", and the checkpoint system is really stupid in normal mode, but I would still play it despite these flaws.
I've played both ZX games and enjoyed them.

Edit: I have now played X8. This is my Top 8 Favorite Mavericks. However, I'm not including Storm Eagle or Magma Dragoon. This isn't based on the games. This is based on MAvericks. After playing X8, there was A Maverick I liked more than Squid Adler but I still prefer Flame Stag.
8. MMX7, Snipe Anteator. I like the Mavericks in X7 overall, it's not the best set but still pretty good to me and has some positive things about them, even Flame Hyenard has a pretty awesome design to me, (except for Wind Crowrang I hate Wind Crowrang). But first, I love the design choice for Snipe Anteator (Capcom is great at spelling, clearly). It fits well. My only gripe with him is his stage. What does it have to do with Sniping, or Anteaters? What is up with the Cyberspace? His fight while IMO is the hardest Maverick in X7, it's still pretty fun. As much as how annoying his barrage missile attack is, I love the challenge provided from it. His weapon is pretty good. I love how powerful the Snipe Missile is (weird name though).

6. MMX6, Infinity Mijinion. Awesome design choice here. Not to mention, I love playing through his stage. I feel like I'm almost as quick if not quicker than Quick Man when I blaze through the stage. His weapon is one of my personal favorites. I don't know why, I just love derping around with this thing. My only gripe with this guy is that his boss fight is pretty annoying. Unless you shoot him to where his clones are off screen, the screen will be littered with Bubbles. They are very annoying to avoid. Otherwise, this guy is amazing.
5. MMX1, Launch Octopus. Again, Quarter Guy explains it all.
4. MMX3, Volt Catfish. First off, his design. I love. It's perfectly fitting for him. And his stage is a pretty fun stage but the 2nd half is where it starts feeling more electric. With all the sparks around, it's a pretty tricky stage but not too bad once memorized. Volt Catfish himself, like a lot of Mavericks, his weakness makes him completely non-threatening. But without it, he's definitely in my opinion the hardest of the 8 Mavericks in X3. It's not the 1st phase of the fight though, His first phase is easy. Very easy to dodge attacks. The 2nd phase is where it gets hard for me. One, the sparks are completely random at where they go. Shooting one side of his shield makes it slightly easier to avoid him when he rams after you very quickly, but not that easy to avoid. He's all about timing. Very difficult fight but very fun one at that (I'm stubborn about taking damage by the way). And his weapon is my favorite from X3. The Triad Thunder. A triangle formation of electricity circling me, and powerful against enemies, yeah I love this thing. Otherwise, I'm surprised this guy didn't make it onto your list Quarter Guy.
3. MMX5, Squid Adler. Yeah, I like Squid Adler. As usual, awesome design choice. Anyways, as for his stage, I personally find his stage quite interesting. The Ride Chaser Section at the beginning for me is not hard. Why do people think that section is so difficult? It's not that bad once it's memorized. I like how electricity is utilized in this stage, It's quite nice. Especially the sections with the doors you need to unlock. I like synchronizing them to the music. As for Squid Adler himself, he's in my opinion the hardest Maverick in X5. His 1st phase is pretty easy. Not very hard to dodge attacks and a simple pattern. It's his 2nd phase where he's an issue. It's not that he makes blocks that get in your way, it's not that some of said blocks are electrified giving another obstacle, it's not that he moves very quickly, it's not that he can electrify the floor, and it's not that he does his desperation attack without warning very quickly and that's difficult to avoid. It's that he does ALL OF THESE THINGS AT ONCE! My god this fight is hard. Still a fun fight overall though. And his weapon, it's basically the Thunder Beam, Mega Man X edition. If you liked the Thunder Beam, you'll like this weapon. I love Squid Adler.
2. MMX8, Burn Rooster. I think I'm the only one that likes Burn rooster the most of the X8 Mavericks. First, I love his design. It really fits him well. Then there's his stage. The only reason he isn't on the #1 spot is because of the auto-scrolling sections. I fin those sections somewhat boring. But everything else, I love it. The rooms with countless amounts of enemies to destroy, the pipes, and especially the escape part with the rising lava. I loved that part with a passion and had a blast throughout this stage. But my favorite part about him is his fight. Obviously with his weakness he's easy. But without it, I consider him the 2nd hardest Maverick in X8 (well, Boss Fight wise). The 1st phase isn't too bad. It's just reaction really. It's the 2nd phase. Moving terrain, his attacks become harder to dodge and harder to react to as a result. And his desperation attack I consider to be somewhat reliant on reflexes (like a lot of Fire Based Mavericks, except for Flame Mammoth, Mattrex, and Flame Hyenard). I still love the challenge this fight brings me. And he has a pretty useful weapon as well. Fair amount of ammo, and it does decent damage. As much as I love this guy, I consider #1 to be even better.
1. MMX2, Flame Stag. This guy is amazing. My god I love Flame Stag. Design as usual is pretty cool A deer with antlers ON FIRE! Then there's his stage. It's a fun stage overall. The lava isn't instant death. I like that a lot. And it carries the theme of fire pretty well. Gas tanks that can get set on fire by the Morgons (the Squirrels). It's a very fast stage. Fast stages mean fast bosses. And I don't mean he goes down quickly. He does not (unless you use his weakness of course). He is a complete, and total, spazz. He'll go up and down the walls, but wherever he lands and whatever attack he decides to do is completely random. He can either use his Speed Burner, use his Fire Punches, or decide to scale the walls again (very difficult to avoid if he's close to you). And if that doesn't help, he can uppercut up the wall whenever he wants. Sometimes he does it, other times he doesn't do it. DO NOT TRY TO PREDICT HIS MOVES, EVER! And when he's at half health, his antlers turn blue, and he and his attacks get stronger AND faster. Yeah. He's definitely the 2nd hardest Maverick for me in X2. Still a very fun battle. His Speed Burner is an amazing weapon. It's fast, it's powerful, and it's great for speedrunning. Overall, Flame Stag is my personal favorite Maverick (not counting Magma Dragoon).
This is of course my opinion.
Edit: After thinking about it for awhile, I actually discovered how much I'm not a fan of Magma Dragoon. I'll admit his design is pretty cool and he has a nice weapon and interesting fight with how he works. But his stage kills it for me. Mostly the 2nd half. The Meteors, the Raidens, the Lava, and the extremely precis jumps. With the ride Armor, it's not that bad, but if you're like me and you want a REAL challenge, you're not gonna use the Ride Armor. So yeah, I do not like his stage.

I never found Magma Dragoon's stage that hard, even without the Ride Armor, but yeah there's A LOT of shit you have to look out for so I can understand that.
It's actually my favorite stage in the series, even though X4 is only my 2nd favorite X game. Very short and fast paced, but has a lot of good stuff packed into it. That's how I like my MMX stages.

Well Dragoon also is a distinct refernce to both Frieza and Berus from DBZ and DBS what with his actions, his personality and he uses the death ball attack mixed with the sphere of destruction.
I was a huge fan of duff mcwhalen, his stage and all, and that music seemed to give away the sadness of the events to follow

I love _everything_ about Yammark: stage, music, boss fight, design, weapon... makes X6 a little less hair-yanking to play (the OG version, not the Tweaks mod).
Squid Adler's weapon makes it way easier to get rid of the bombs that are blocked by enemies if you're using Zero

I can agree to that. I think X6 worked well with Zero but NOT WITH X. It suffered the Megaman & Bass syndrome but less painful (Bass can easily blend well with the level design and bosses but NOT Megaman.) I wonder if ppl can actually play that game as megaman and didn't cream "Bullshit" in every 5 seconds.

Magma Dragoon has been and always will be my #1 Maverick. His design was a nice touch even if they were traits with Street Fighter. If they gave him Akuma's "Die 1000 Deaths" ultimate it would have been scary to see him perfect it in a fire-base version.
Although the Raging Demon itself isn't part of Dragoon's moveset, his chest has the exact same kanji that appears on Akuma's back after he uses it
I may disagree about Jet Stingray's stage, I lost a lot of lives because of the timing of those jumps

The Pile Driver from MM11 is also very similar to the Propeller Dagger.
Actually with gravity beetle, instead of using screen wide gravity, he instead uses compressed gravity and black holes, which limits gravity. So he doesn't have obvious control, he still has it.

believe it or not i don't hate a single maverick. like some more than others but even the weaker ones like wire sponge have their moments(like wire sponge being an underrated badass)
#4 you revisit a dried up version of it in ZX Advent. You even find the Sea Serpent mechanoloid in X style sprite form in a side quest.
It took me 2 hours to beta Squid Adler's stage because of the energy orbs. I love X5, but I despise Squid Adler.

Flame Stag, predictable? Really? He's FAR from predictable. For me, whenever I fight him, it feels like one of those very unpredictable spazzes. The fact that whatever he does when he lands on the ground is completely up to him. Whether being using his Speed Burner, using his Fire Punches, or him deciding to jump up the walls again. Very difficult to dodge if he does that when he lands close to you. Also, his attack where he uppercuts up the walls, he does it whenever he wants to. Sometimes he uses it, other times he won't use it. And it doesn't help that when he's at half health, he and his attacks become stronger AND faster. Flame Stag is by far the 2nd hardest Maverick in X2 for me. I don't care what some may say. Yeah, he's pathetically easy with his weakness, but Buster Only is a different story.
Also, call me weird but I find Armored Armadillo easier than Chill Penguin.
Here's a tip: after he lands, get on the wall and dash jump off of it just before he gets on the same wall as you and return quickly afterwards so that he won't use his uppercut attack. The punches can also be dodged this way. It makes him one of the easiest mavericks in the series.

15.i have a feeling another one from that game is on this list since it's one of the few (and i mean FEW in the game that is good) like the stage minus a few mini bosses *cough* the jet plane but still great fight and a VERY useful weapon against your worst maverick (and no i'm not gonna mention him because we all hate him)
14.this is how you make a gravity level and based boss i agree it's a fun fight though anoying at times without the weakness weapon that is but a good fight none the less and decent weapon though not my favorite thats for sure

8. staying the theme of X3 we have by far one of my favorites of this game and yeah i can see why he in this spot a bit hard of a stage but a fun fight with or without the weakness weapon but i agree it is hard and useful weapon at times
7. not technically my favorite maverick of X8 but i do admit it's design and weapon is good just wish we didn't need to use MY least favorite maverick from that game (i.e my number 2 worst maverick on my list you know which one) but yeah it's the fight that gets me for this boss why i'm not a huge fan of him but your list anyway
6. No agruement on the ride chaser stages they are the best but this does it better and i like this boss fun useful weapon just wish we didn't have to use another one of my least favorite bosses weapons to beat it but oh well
5.Yeah my favorite game of the series too but yeah another one and nice burn on (not saying his name) but still a hard stage anyway even on the second half but a fun fight and very useful weapon
4. from one water boss to easily my favorite water boss of the X series shame hes related to a certain boss metioned in the previous entry he is easily my favorite not to mention on of the hardest bosses if not careful

3- defenitly my fav in the original. Awsome level and boss desing whit a sweet music to go along. Fight preety easy as i recently rediscovered by playing the original again, especially with is weakness. Cool weapon though, even if i prefer the one from the cameleon.
2- this guy pwd me more times than i can count, especially when playing Zero or on the only buster chalenge. On the mavericks the most chalenging one on X4. The stage is really cool too, and certanly chanlenging as well.
1 - Could not agree more. By far my favourite X series boss, bringing the right level of chalenge and awsome combined. I do think thoug that his patterns is very easy to predict and dodge, think only took me a couple trys, but other than that, oure awsome.
I agree,megaman x6 is better than x7.
Oddly enough, I love the first Lumine battle. A boss that uses 8 Maverik moves that keep you on your toes if you go with the standard weapon.
I think Storm Eagle is overrated
I'm currently playing through all of the X games (I bought the X collection on the PS2, as well as X7 and X8), and seeing the games for myself because of these lists. Currently, I'm at X6, and my favorite Maverick is Mattrex, from X5, and my least favorite, thus far, is Blaze Heatnix, form X6.

X6 is not bad at all. Hard as hell, sure. Level designs are ridiculous. But it just makes it more challenging. I enjoy it. Plus it has the best soundtrack and armor system.

If we're talking about level design, X4 was worse in my opinion. You could say that they fucked up the story, but gamewise it was a pretty amazing game.

***** Hey man, solid list, I got no complaints about this one and I agree on Magma Dragoon, Dragoon was one of my personal favorites and the realist boss to fight in X4
You covered most of my favourites, like numbers 9,7 and 1 and I agree with most of the honourable mention.
I'm surprised this gus hasn't made a Yu-Gi-Oh countdown of some sort yet. Since he does all the pop-ups of cards, characters from the show, and whatnot. I'd actually love to see a Yu-Gi-Oh countdown from The Mega Man man himself.
My most favorite maverick is from X6 it's Avalanche Wolffang though I will admit the ice physics in his stage were annoying. And if we ever do get Megaman X9 here's an idea for a maverick Shadow Lioness this idea would be cool for two reason one we've never had a female maverick in the series, and two her concept could be a kunoichi/female ninja who uses the shadow element. And being a lioness she should obviously have some sort of grasslands-esque stage and a regal yet still well-liked honorable personalty.

So there's a fight that I feel like suffers greatly from having a horrible stage, that being Metal Shark Player in X6. His fight is intense, fast-paced, and challenging, and you get a pretty good weapon. But hot damn does his level _suck._

11.Cyber Peacock: a pretty flashy design, an ok stage and yet still not threatening and an average boss fight
10. Gravity Antonian: his stage is fun and his boss fight is at least slightly challenging
9. Matrexx: a cool design, a fun fight and a nice weapon
8. Dark Mantis: 2 words, Ninja Inspiration.
7. Overdrive ostrich: 2 more words, beep beep
6. Flame Stag: a VERY cool design with an amazingly useful weapon
5. Storm Eagle: a good stage and one of the most symbolic boss fights in the series
4. Storm Owl: a good stage and one of the best boss fights in the series
3. Magma Dragoon (the fan favorite Akuma reference) a nice stage, wonderful design, well done references, pure plot relevance and a fantastic boss fight
2. Dark Dizzy: A bat based enemy that isn't Dracula based, a cool fight, fun design, awesome weapons and a hint of backstory
1. The Skiver: THE Maverick of the sky who pretty much perfected the "Storm" concept with enough originality to stand on his own 2 feet, a well designed and all around cool airforce base, he himself is a nod to X4 which I love, he has an awesome design and is the only Pegasus maverick in the series, he has a fantastic stage theme and in my opinion he was one of the main shining highlights of megaman X5 and if you play as Zero it becomes one of the more challenging fights in the series and his dialogue against Zero is very interesting and shows a connection between Skiver, Iris and Zero and he makes you think about what he was like before going maverick and you can't help but think about X4's lore and what Skiver was doing during the game. All of this makes The Skiver easily my favorite maverick in Megaman X.
I've just started playing the MMXLC1+2. I'm finally getting the chance to experience 4-8. Really enjoying the 4th game so far. Not sure if I should bother with X7 with as much vitriol as it gets by well, damn near everybody.
I always miss Slash Beast in these lists, for me, he was more badass than Storm Owl and after Magma Dragoon, he is my favorite Maverick of all time.
Missed Spike Rosered too, as well i missed Blizzard Wolfang.

Flame Stag. Another reason he's awesome is because once he turns up the heat and goes blue, he will uppercut you several stories into the air, catch up with you, and slam you all the way down into the ground. Try it. It is fun!
