It's so ridiculous that when I was a kid, being an Asian, Filipino to be exact, America is like a dream of mine. To go there and live an American life beause I often watch Hollywood shows. But as I grow up, hearing stories and watching these kinds of shows, it lessens my desire to live in the US. Yes, it's nice to live there, but if you're living in a society where people keeps on belittling you and where you came from, it's just pure toxicity. I'm proud of being Asian and Filipino. I'm not going to live anywhere. I may travel and work abroad but Asia will always be my home. Southeast Asia is always going to be my home. Isnt "miss understood" the wrong term? The entire US culture is based on a collage of cultures where no one should get to be in the middle. White europeans where the lout speaking majority, and tagging along with Christianity they got to stay in the middle. So when it comes to asian... it applies to africans, tons of latinos (not everyone is Mexican) etc... The "good" thing, is that asians dont get to be racially miss treated (or do you?), if at all, you get to be strongly stereotyped...

I'm south east Asian but a lot of people think I'm Indian because of my skin tone. I hv Indian and Chinese heritage but at the end of the day I am South East Asian. People assuming where I'm from really annoys me. I migrated to Australia so this happens much more often. One time someone in my class said very loudly 'WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE ASIAN IN OUR CLASS'. He then looked at me and was like 'oh, sorry. Nevermind'. And even though this was such a tiny thing it still made me smile knowing that people don't just assume I'm Indian and also don't think Indians aren't Asian. I know this is a stupid thing but it really makes me happy and I don't know why

I'm Arab and I believe that East Asia has the most interesting, most beautiful and culturally-diverse people out there. I'm glad that when I see a group of asian-looking people on the street, I don't directly assume that they're Chinese but can actually guess where they're from based on the language they speak. I just love to learn about all the east asian countries so that I get to share my knowledge and stop those around me from thinking in a stereotypical way.
I'm Cambodian-American (Southeast Asian). As a kid, I learned that yes you can have brown skin and be Asian. My parents came to the U.S as refugees and I was born in California. Growing up, adults would say that I speak English well and point out my parent's "heavy" Cambodian accent to compare. My parents didn't teach their kids Khmer because they wanted us to speak English better. I'm lucky to understand Khmer despite not knowing how to read or write in it. Overall, my parents are just as American as I am and as they are the 1st generation to settle their roots here.

I also never got the stereotype that Asians were unattractive because I've always found Asians to be the most attractive but that might be because I grew up around a lot of Asians. Also to be honest no one can tell Chinese from Japanese from Korean all the time... just like I can't tell if someone is Italian, German or Swedish. Some of these experiences are not exclusive to Asians. I am Colombian and Salvadorian. We are often overlooked and subjected to one view of a Latino, and that is of a Mexican. Colombian roles are often played by non-Colombians in Hollywood. A great example of this is Manny form Modern Family whom I already knew was Mexican American before I even looked him up on Wikipedia. Personally, it is a tremendous pet peeve of mine because there are many differences between us in culture, dialect and appearance. Many people, especially non-Latinos, mistake me for being Mexican (but Latinos that know better don't think that) which goes to show ignorance is across the board. A couple things I wish people understood about Latinos are: 1) we do not all look the same and 2) we are racially AND ethnically diverse. Sure, many of us share similar features for being mixed with the Indigenous, but even Indigenous people have some distinctive features from each other, after all, they spanned the mass of two continents!

Haha this is funny. I'm from the southern part of India and when someone asks me where I'm from I just say Sri Lanka lol, cause I look more Sri Lankan than Indian. Sucks for me really!
It is where I belong, where I don't have to conform to the American standards of beauty, ideals, and culture.

I AM JAPANESE.
For most people, the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean letter are same
Bonus points for the KoTH reference. "Laotian." "What ocean??"
This video though 👌🏼
Others- *looks at my skin colour* wait aren’t you Indian
Me- no I am Sri Lankan
Others- isn’t it all the same
I’m so happy that i’m a Asian THANK GOD.
Honestly I love Asian culture. Ethnicities are hard to tell apart... sometimes race is hard to tell too. I see Asians as everyone else and I see people as individuals I honestly "don't get racism".
Alex idk. I've got " for an asian, you're attractive. & I don't find Asians attractive." W/ twists here & there. But basically meaning the same. You know how you delusionaly think your a rep., then check yourself? But sometimes you just know, you'll do it over & over again. Response in my head goes like this. ?k. I dont understand ppl who think they can tell others apart & guess.. Or ppl who think everyone looks the same. Ppl like that sound like they've lived in their comfortable tiny bubbles for too long
Ahhw E-Any i am an indian and have very light skin... when i tell people that i am indian they like "no" and yes people also said to me that i am very attractive for indians beacuse of my skin color but they don't even know that india is racially diverse and there are millions of indians way mor ed lighter than me........
blue orange i would like you to ask the same question...are You high on weed
Pooja Vishwakarma here the tanner you are, the hotter

There's not one monolithic "asian culture".
As an Asian American I grew a lot of self hatred. No one takes us seriously and they think we're all ugly, shy, & nerdy 😟
40ozofstress not everyone in America thinks these things the world is very complicated and crazy, it’s because your stuck in a bubble with a certain perception in your mind.
Then black-american of african looks good?
Classmate: Are you Japanese?
