Thx bud. New 3000 just stopped. Have been carving from your wood spirit tree house videos. New carver at age 63 doing chain Saw art. Love it. Talked about doing it for 30+ years. Life has new purpose.😅
Just a bit of info I have learned, I used the dremel 4300 model, and I order my brushes thru dremel and it only costs like $4 a set. Last time I ordered I think I order 3 or 4 SETS of brushes and with shipping and everything included it only cost me $16. Dremel is one of the best companies, as far as standing behind their products and especially costumer service, that I have dealt with. To all new carvers I HIGHLY recommend calling them for new brushes. Also, make sure you check your brushes regularly. If they are starting to get worn, order more so you don't have to wait and lose carving time.
Hey Jessie. Another good vid. The brushes transfer power between the field winding and the Armature which spins in the centre giving drive to the burr. ..
Thanks for sharing. Useful. Gotta love RUclips. I'm older. And by gar, kids today have no idea how hard it was to get information like this in the past, pre-internet. If my Dremel broke when I was eleven I'd probably look in the Encyclopedia for diagrams of electric motors or switches. Then I'd use the phone-book to look up numbers of Dremel dealers. Then I'd go to the phone and wait, curly-wired to the wall, for the party-line to be open so I could dial. Failing that I'd ride my bike ten miles to a small-town library and use paper index card files and the Dewey Decimal System to find an out of date manual for a similar tool and struggle with that.... But I just solved my issue from my chair in under a minute with video streamed to my remote mountain stronghold by Starlink satellites. I know I should be over-it, but it is freaking amazing.
I hear you! I’m a woman (old enough to get sr. citizen discounts) and the internet is so helpful especially you tube, no longer do I have to drive 12 miles to the library, I can fix my riding mower that’s 14 yrs old, my father would have been so proud. He was always tinkering with everything and now I do too! All made possible by videos like this!
Thank you Jordy! You have such great tips! The dremel can be expensive to buy, so why not try to fix it🙂thank you for taking the time to help us and teach us!
Thanks Jordy, I just googled about dremel service issues and your video came up and was thankful as the manual didn't have maintenance info on this older model I have everything is good on it but this, great help
Many thanks and yes in th eUK you can unscrew the bushses cap .you saved me buying a new one the wire had shorted out on mine just like in your video easy fix thanks again mate
Hi Jordy... I'll watch later.. I'm stuck at Walmart waiting for rescue...my car "Jack" has decided to not start...lol... Thanks for the tips in advance.. 👍😉...🌿🌿🌿
Just had to replace mine!!! They were so bad i had to clean out bits of the spring that had been grinded down! And it was a NIGHTMARE finding a store that sold them
I have an older model 370-5, my brushes look pretty good but still not working. took mine apart and it's a couple of the stator wires. Soldering time! Thanks for the vid though
until now , thanks to this video , I have always just thrown away the rotary tools when they stopped working . I may use this advise and attempt to fix my belt sander as well. Thanks Mr. Jordy . . . :-)
Thankyou ....gents & ladies ...to be quiet honest, I have the model 3000 and thought this was a genuine QUALITY PRODUCT from the EU ...Netherlands/Germany ...and after 6 months has stopped working ...I see on the packaging it's made in Mexico ??? Where can I get this model 3000 replaced under warranty ??? I'm in South Africa ...and Thankyou...
You forgot to mention the "turbo brushes" that add an additional 500 million rpms! 😂🤣 Great video Jordy! I like that you come back to basic things for old and new carvers!
I've noticed that the brushes are not perfectly square; one side is slightly longer than its perpendicular. The same with the hole it fits in, so the brush will only fit a certain way. My Dremel has become intermittently powered and does shut off by itself so I am thinking rhis is a brush issue? Mine do show wear but there is still lots of block left on the brushes. Can they be sanded flat and still work?
Hoping for help. My Dremel 3000 has this issue where those 2 plastic screws on each side that house a copper spring (I don't know what that is), have a strange issue. The Dremel works only if I press hard on one of them. The moment I release pressure from the screw, it stops. What might be the issue and is there a way I can fix it please? Thank you.
Unscrew them and take the brushes out, with fine sandpaper sand the ends flat and put the brushes back in, It's probably time for new brushes u can but them online
hi, a question.. but have you had any luck with the dremels? I did a calculation, I bought 8, and 5 broke. Two of these were the Dremel 3000, one of which broke yesterday. I saw that other people had the same problem as me, these are wires smaller than a millimeter (0.7), and can break due to vibrations. what do you think about it? What do you think is the most "resistant" and best made dremel among the various models? Aesthetically I really liked the Dremel 3000, but after it broke again after 4 uses... I have now replaced it with another 4250. (of which I have 3 in total now, even though I still had a 4250 broken in the past...) I find it ridiculous that such a famous brand makes such poor quality products, only once did I run out of carbon brushes from a dremel... another question by the way, do you still sell the dremel 4000? here in Italy no, not even in the back box, once you buy a new dremel it's more present, they show the stylus, the 3000, and directly the 4250. I think it's because here in Italy the carbon brushes were hidden, and you had to open the machine completely.
Just bought a new Dremel today - battery pack one. I turn it on, then turn it off, and it won't turn back on unless I take the battery pack out and reinsert it. What's up with that?
Its not the brushes on my drill, Dremel 3000 its the electronics board. My one is less than 12 hours usage & it has burned out while using the extension multi use shaft. Its had it hust over a year old. But also be aware these units have a poor quality electronics now. Definately not worth buying anymore.
Jordy I changed brushed, dremel 4000 started then stopped again. About 10 minutes later I started it again. Now I’m running dremel and it stops. Geee what the hell is going on. I just bought the dam thing. May I ask you what the hell is going on. Plz Jordy
Well this is not really "fixing" a tool... This is a normal procedure in all tools that aren't brushless. It's so sad the amount of people that throws away perfectly fine and sometimes expensive tools because they don't know that at one point they need to change the brushes....
For the move if GOD!!!!!! Please wash your hands sir!!!! 🤮 That nauseates me. In fact, I’m going to look for another video now I can’t take it. I don’t mean to be rude, but I wanted to let you know that that’s incredibly disgusting.
this newcomer appreciates this very clear video - thanks!

Thank you
Fellow german viewer here. Also no brush caps that are removable, just the dots that indicate something should be there.
Perfect - I thought mine had finally died. Thanks for making this!

The dremel 3000 in the UK can certainly be opened in this way.

I agree
What size are the brushes for smaller dremels?? Hard time getting proper one once mine are burnt !
Like I said Google o
It
That will help a lot of people 👌
Well done my friend

Yeah that's what I thuoght,a hack here ahack there,it works. Good one Jordy.
Great tip brother. Thanks for posting.
Great info, thanks for sharing much appreciated!
Thanks for the help!
That was great I had no idea about that but I do now.
Wonderful helpful video. Thank you!
Does this ever happen after one use? Mine cut out on the first day
Does this apply to the model Dremel 7760-N/10W 4V Lite?
Maybe so I'm not to sure sorry

Yes sand flat :)
Hey just wondering is it the same part # for the dremel 4300 brushes or are they different? Cheers!
Yes all will work, u may need to sand the sides down a bit
What makes them wear out too much weight on the motor going it's low speeds???
Touch weight

@@CarvingFusion Thank you so much. Really appreciate your help. What exactly are they called so that i can search for them please?
@@ShyamSundarYi have the same problem with my dremel 4200. Did you manage to fix yours by sanding or replacing the brushes?
@@josephzekhnini5621 Replaced new brushes. Now it doesn't work any more.

I like and use the dremel 4000
Thank you ! Needed this!
Thanks for posting, unfortunately that was not my dremels issue either.
Hi jordy could you let me know what burrs you use, love ure work from the uk:)
Kutzall
Just bought a new Dremel today - battery pack one. I turn it on, then turn it off, and it won't turn back on unless I take the battery pack out and reinsert it. What's up with that?
Not sure I'd maybe ty reset your brushes or call dremel
@@CarvingFusion exchanged it for a new one at Lowe’s. All good now.
Mine was not in use. But will not power on. Could this be a fix?
Maybe Chek the brushes
thank you!!
Mine stopped after using it 30 min.
Not very robust they make it to sell brushes it seems.
Why do they call it a brush? It doesn’t resemble a brush in any way.
Not to sure and I agree
It “brushes” the motors electrical field to keep the motor turning
Just checked the brushes on my stone dead 3000 and they look barely touched
Confused…why wouldn’t it be possible to replace the bushes in the UK?! They unscrew just like any other Dremel.
Not to sure maybe it's new Zealand

Hi there, u could try pulling the brushes out and lightly sanding the bottoms flat and reinstall :)
So my brushes look a little worn but still there. Does this mean that I've bought, yet another, turd dremel?
I would lightly sand the bottom of your brushes flat and ree install them
@@CarvingFusion thanks! Someone else said it might be a thermal coupler?

Dude, I'm gonna mail you some hand lotion. Holy crap. = )

Ummm no fix mine😔
