My dremel wouldnt turn on but i was able to eliminate the brushes as my problem. My dremel has a very cheap, horribly designed plastic lever inside that must trigger the internal microswitch. The plastic wasnt actually triggering it so it wasnt turning on. I added a good amount of hard glue to the end of the lever so now it is thick and strong enough to trigger the microswitch
Hi man, Was yours pulsing when turning or was it just not turning at all? My issue is that its pulsing when its turning and once I apply it to something, it won't turn. Help?
Bearing gave out on mine three months in. Very disappointing. I have one that is twenty years old that hasn’t had a bearing issue (my guess is the more expensive metal sealed bearings in the old vs rubber sealed in the new). Also the brushes on the new one are a 1/4 worn down while the other doesn’t even have divot in it. Not trying to hate, I love Dremel but they seriously cheapened some things. Great vid though! Subscribed.
It's funny you say that about the older models. Last month my dad gave me my great grandfather's Dremel from 1962. The thing still works perfectly, and lots of power. So there's definitely something to what you're saying. My modern one is only about 3 or so years old, and the brushes are the only problem I've had. It's definitely my most used tool in my arsenal. Thanks for being here, and stay safe!
AC Toy Design Of course, you too! I didn’t know dremel was around in the 60s, that’s crazy. Since the OEM brushes wear pretty quick there might be some better aftermarket ones out there that last longer. I forgot to account for the newer models possibly having much higher rpms causing them to wear sooner. Those are cheap enough though, to be honest haha. Do you mostly 3D print and use plastics, or have you done any metal projects before?
AC Toy Design You know what they say about assumptions. They are asinine. Any low temp metal casting? Like bismuth? I know with paint you can get a pretty solid metal look, and it takes a lot more art to pull off, but metal might be a good second to that.
@@alonsogarrote8898 Yep, unscrew every bolt, open the dremel case just enough so that the covers just fall out, replace as usual. Pretty simple, just really unpractical...
I recently purchased a 4300. I ran it on high for 5 mins to seat the brushes per the manual. I’ve only used it 2-3 times to cut a plastic number plate for my bike. This most recent time I was cutting on a lower setting, and it seemed to be losing power and sounding slightly sporadic. I ended up gradually going to 10, and 13ish, bur 10 and below just doesn’t sound smooth anymore. Did I damage my brushes?
Hey, my knowledge of these is only the experience I have with them. Is yours plug in it rechargeable battery? I always run mine on 15 or higher, otherwise it drags and doesn't work efficiently. If it is your brushes it's a quick and cheap fix. Keep me posted.
Hey! For mine I did some research and the troubleshot accordingly. It's really easy to check the brushes, and eliminate them from the equation. You'll be able to tell if they are too warm down or not, and it's a really cheap and easy fix if that is the problem. Aside from that, you can carefully take it apart and inspect the insides for damage.
@@AdamCrohn I'm just trying to decide whether to by new brushes or buy new Dremel. Wanted to see if I can somehow check if the brushes are the problem before ordering new brushes.
@@lezaboyland8998 Hi! Please help me as I'm having the same problem. I damaged black cover which is I assume over grey disk and now I'm stuck. Another one is still intact but I can't remove that black cover either.
my new dremel 4000 does this when running...intermittent drag...so the speed seems to be not constant ..i believe there is something wrong with armature spinning ...why???

Thanks for watching! It's been a while since I've done a video on a power tool. I'm due for a new one, and I think it's going to be my new heat gun.

Hi quick question. My Dremel stopped working. Is there a way to pinpoint if the problem is with the brushes or something else?

Hi my Dremel 4000 doesn’t have the grey disc to unscrew, does it initially have a cover over it? How do i put a picture up for you to see mine

@@prda7 you have to unscrew the main body, which splits in half, then you can remove the brushes. Don't know why they have that silly design.

Mine is doing the same by the sounds of your comment, as soon as I put some pressure to carve wood it slows down :-(
