You call this a beginner course, but I've been using this for 15 years, and there are still workflows, techniques, tricks, etc., that you show that I never knew about.
You're so good at teaching complex things in a simple way. I learned a lot form the UV part since I've always struggled with it. Thank you so much sir!
Thank you a lot for this tutorial! I was having a hard time to wrap my head around UCV unwrapping and its logic. And thank you for not just showing only a mere cube or cylinder and leave us at that. Your complex object and explanations really are top notch. Thank you again!
I just discovered your interesting channel. It's a masterpiece for me as Maya's beginner user. Thank you for your effort .This tutorial step by step is a example of best tutorial!
Your channel is so underrated! I've learned so much more about modeling from your videos than I have from my teachers. The way you show each step of the process is super helpful and the quality of your videos make it fun and engaging to follow along. Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks for the tutorial, I'm moving from Blender after a couple of years to Maya and your channel looks like a pretty good source of knowledge! Just one question, for your tutorial/courses, would it be possible for you to activate an option to show which key you're typing directly on screen ? It can be pretty useful for beginners =)
is there no option like in blender called shrinwrap? It's when yo create guading mesh (High poly cylinder) And create the one you gonna work with; creating cuts, adding support loops etc. And wraping all pinches and bad topology to - high poly cylinder "guaiding mesh' Cuz all your activities in terms of counting how much you need edges for cylinder to attach other element on the top seems very overwhelming and complex. I'm talking about 43 min of this video
Hi and good time of day, I have a question about UV'ing chamfered edges. As far as I know every edge that is corner edge / creates a sharp transition should be "hardened" and cut along it in the UVs, but what do you do with chamfered edges? Do you cut it in the edges of the chamfer and create a "frame" shaped UV? Or do you cut it in the middle? And should it be "Softened" rather than "Hardened"? Thanks in advance for any help and have a great weekend.
Hi, can you tell me how to change the colors and make them the same as yours, for example some wireframe lines or the color of the pivot axes and all the other colors or is there a file containing all the configuration of your colors that you can copy somewhere and can you share? I really like how your shelf is set up. Thank you
This upload is legendary. Thank you! However, I’ve been endlessly looking for a good source of tutorials in organic modeling. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good channel that would be just as educational and friendly as Mario
Excellent video! No idea why but when I do some stuff such as extruding and try to use the same values you did it ends up extruding way more than it does on your tuto o.O (hope my explanation is clear, non-native here)
Its probably related to scale of the object. But try not to copy exact values, instead try to match proportions as much as you can on your own just to practice observational skills
@@Elementza I will ^^ I was wondering if I messed up some setting or turned smt on/off that is affecting it, cuz usually I can get the same results by following your tutorials, I'm a complete noob in 3D modelling/stuff and Maya
Awsome video, thank you so much. But is it true that this workflow cannot be applied to game characters creation ? I am to understand that for games all the surfaces need to be combined and I cannot have overlapping poligons (except for the parts that need to be able to move). Will there be tutorial on that topic as well (because I have a lot of questions) ?
I am always wondering what is that software that would give me Artistic freedom, not having to constantly worry about Topology *and there is none.* or may be Zbrush? idk
Hey, really loving the in depth tutorial! One small question: I've noticed your objects are way sharper and feel "smoother" in the scene even though they aren't under smooth preview, how so?
You will need to enable multisample anti-aliasing. If you´re not familiar with where it is, please check the attached link :) knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2020/ENU/Maya-Rendering/files/GUID-B37443EB-3D88-444B-B1EE-6DD0F7ED985A-htm.html
Normally use 3DCoat for UV, its about time I tried Maya for UV. Shell angles start to matter when your adding a wood material which has a grain. it can be a real pain aligning them in Substance Painter.
Yes UV direction and angles will matter, same as the sizes of different tiles etc, but for now just wanted to keep it very simple as something that does not have a lot of rules to remmember for any beginner.
I have a really beginner question I have found other artists make the model with different parts not by a single mesh I mean the same way you have created the concept and idea at the beginning so I'm confused about that when I have to make the model by a whole single mesh and when I can use it as separate parts which is much faster and no need to care about topology because each part has its own proper topology.
I think you were just trying to keep the video simple but a fun thing with symmetry is you can select stuff then change axis and deactivate and reactivate it to select everything on the new axis that hasn't been selected.
Yes for every tool we use, there are more in depth videos right here on the channel or my website for anyone interested what else these tools can do, including symmetry :)
Pretty awesome, I watched all the parts, and I would like to buy your course on website but I have important question which makes me feel lost and I hope you answer my question, I do 3D since 2017 (and I can work on C4D, 3ds max, substance painter & houdini etc.) but I suck at 3D Modeling, and I used maya for animation but not for modeling, so i want to ask you as modeling which is better C4D or Maya, I know all of them can do the same thing for sure and it doesn't matter the package artist use, but I wanna know what would you let you choose to Model in Maya rather than C4D also how you maintain different hotkeys because C4D hotkeys is different from Maya. I am thinking to learn Modeling in Maya so I can learn Maya at the same time, or should I continue with my fluency in C4D. I hope you can answer my question soon, For what is difference between Maya and C4D in Modeling and How you maintain different hotkeys between specially in C4D and Maya, specially you are fluent in both. And I love your courses so much and I am so excited for your course of Motorcycle in Maya.
Well both are fine I would say just depends which field you're more interested in. :) C4D modeling tools are very minimalistic, and require more clicking around. It could be fine if you plan to work in motion design or do not plan to do any super complex objects. However if you're more serious about 3D, Maya will be safer bet since the tools are more powerful, and (at least for me) the workflow is much faster, especially once you hotkey all tools you plan to use. Hope this helps :)
@@Elementza Yeah that helped so much and I am gonna buy the Maya Course on your website that has motorcycle :) One last question: How you maintain hotkeys between C4D & Maya, I mean to remember them, because I was using 3ds max for 3 years and when I switched to C4D after time I wanted to do project in 3ds max but I was struggling in 3ds max because forgot hotkeys and many stuff there as if I became beginner in 3ds max and the same for blender I used blender 5 years ago and when I switched to 3ds max I forgot blender completely to a point that I am unable to work on it. so I acquired its usage skill and then this skill is dropped when I switched to another application. So how you handle that specially you do courses for C4D & Maya ? which I like so much
@@messileo6518 You can customise and assign any hotkey you wish to the most used functions like move, scale and rotate for example There is a couple of videos on this topic so hope it helps ruclips.net/video/e4gjmFHs8m0/видео.html
i always notice that u are the small tiny tiny manipulator for move, rotate, and scale. So, I wanted to ask why don't you make it a little bigger??? ... because I find it very difficult to control with such a small tool.
I usually add that later in compositing. That way you can tweak the image independant of the background in case you wanna do some adjustments like increase brightness, contrast etc..
I find kind of frustrating that I actually cannot afford a Redshift or Octane license to see the things I model rendered or maybe render little things and experiment with lights or textures in my learning process in C4D, any advice? thanks in advance.
Question ... does anyone's Maya crash when loading the file? Mine goes unresponsive. Tried some old files and it's working fine so not sure what might be the issue other than Maya sucks. The viewport seems weird as well (not an issue on Houdini or Blender).
