I was 7 when this came out and loved playing it with my brother who had muscular dystrophy. He could still play a little but i carried him through most of the match literally. One of the last games he was able to play with me. I miss it so much😢
I remember when my father got this for me when it came out. I beat it the same day (many hours) but he was pissed cuz it cost him $50 back in 1990. Now here we are seeing someone beat it sub 10 mins. Ridiculus! Congrats to you!

don't those guys with the plungers at the end of the game take 2 hits?? I thought the last 2 were practically forced hits. well not last 2, but the 2 before the last 2(that you could just easily avoid).
now this is what I call sharp responsive controls. Not the bullshit from mario that everyone keeps sucking up to. That game had an intentionally horrible programmed control that made mario slowly build up speed or slide around, it made me feel like i had to press the fuck out of the buttons because they felt unresponsive as hell.
Damage boost. You get hurt to move forward quicker and to avoid something else that could hit you and knock you back or that you'd have to slow down to avoid. Some players also use this sometimes to pass through doors and such. In the timestamped example, it was prob the electric wire's shocking thingy.

I actually purchase this game as a kid at KB toy store. $49.99 and she thought it was outrageous but was willing to do extra work around the house. Game went home and Saturdays suck for the next month. 😂

Amazing race, especially the last level.
Even in a non-speedrun the final stage is a pain to deal without dying, nice run.
