Critiques are entirely valid, especially for players who aren't really interested in point-and-click games, or the new Young/Naive Sherlock Holmes in general - I ended up enjoying it immensely despite it's shortcomings, and still recommend it!
Thanks mate, you sold me, SH C&P was imo the best in the series but Chapter One was ok, The Sinking City was for me the best they've made at Frogwares in the current gen even if it was a small increase in detail due to as you know yourself the mess Big Ben made, I bought it twice but I only did that because it was in sale, paid full price for last gen version, the way I see it if we don't support AA devs we are going to end up with the same 3 game types made by the same few megacorps, AA devs take chances, I respect that, if I could recommend you a few id say Disco Elysium, Hellblade (Series X version), Stray over on PS5, I'm thinking about getting the Last Oricru but although I like a bit of Euro jank like Elex there something about TLO that looks appealing and yet unappealing at the same time....that makes no sense mate 😂, you're a gamer you know what I mean, I hope 😂, anyway all the best mate, respect from Ireland 🇮🇪
I am going to give this game a try.
Frogwares has a track record of having really interesting ideas (like this game or Sinking City) and only being able to implement mechanics around those ideas in a very meh kind of way.
It's funny that, for me, the moments that I like the least was during the surnatural moments, when I play a Sherlock Holmes game I want to find logical explanation and not tripping

The one thing no review seems to explain that I want to know is this: Is the game open world like Chapter One? Or do you select locations to travel to like Crimes and Punishment and Devil's Daughter? I need something that is the latter. Chapter One was a giant city and I spent more timing running from point A to B than I did solving cases
It's not open world, it's divided by chapters (8 total), each in different location
And this is what i didn't really like, cause after you finish the chapter you can't go back, so you have to do all the side quests right now whether you like it or not
Not like there were a whole lot of them but still
@elisavetagaydamaka7469 Yeah that sounds like poor planning. If they were going to do side quests, it should've been full open world. If they wanted to do more of a crimes and punishment style setup, they should've dropped the side quests. I don't much care about side quests, just the main story, but that sucks for the people who do. Thanks for the response
@Elisaveta Gaydamaka That is a valid complaint that I've heard from several people. I rather like that limitation since in universe it would make sense that they couldn't do that.
this is back to the tried and true chapter/missions format of Crimes and Punishments. I agree with you regarding the issues with the open world format
The side quests are paid DLC (or included in the deluxe edition), so you can opt out of them entirely if you like the C&P format more.
This is funny, because I loved the Sherlock games I have played (which is all of them except this one) despite not particularly being a fan of the books or TV show, and I reckon the Cthulu bits will be the bits I like least.

Crime and punishment was excellent, the other ones refuse to run on my computer though the gameplay I've looked up looks fun
Yeah, you completely missed the point on the cactus-murder "deduction"... It's a bit hard to take anything seriously after that.
I played one of their previous games : "Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments" - it's AWESOME !
Then they released some "modern" Sherlock Holmes game with an arrogant Holmes - hard to play, hard to even watch it on RUclips with someone other plays it !
Agree about Crimes and punishments. It is probably Frogwares best Sherlock game. I wish they could have incorporated more of those elements in this one.

Enjoying much more tham the reviewer so far, and more than chapter one, i hated the notbknowing if it was correct solution. Still prefer the game mechanics in devils daughter.

This sounded interesting at first as Sherlock solving the madness that is love craft sounds cool. But hear this is giving me major doubts.
Escapist......Why get someone who definitely seems utterly unfamiliar with how Frogwares sherlock games work, their UI and detecting process to do the review. Its like getting a baker to do a review of a film (and the baker whinging over long established idiosyncrasies present in the film of which they are very ignorant). Stupid and a waste of a review. To others... if you like Frogwares systems like they had in Crimes and Punishments and Devils Daughter (lesser extent) then you will mostly like this.
i've played a lot of the frogware sherlock games as B movie-ish entertainment but i really hated chapter 1 (so many gamebreaking bugs). thanks for the review here, i think i'll avoid getting burned again.

The first visuals of this snapped me back to a memory of playing the first release of this one, then everything else was completely new to me. So, I guess I lost interest quickly. 😆
Let me know when a game about Sherlock being asleep comes out

it's a rubbish game. same as the last few S.H.
very bad game, i got tired within 30 minutes of playing it, plus everything is almost automated and you just have to click object and people. thats it. no jumping, no shooting, same music in background.
Final Chapter's cultist chants is annoying. One hand you have to focus on lazer beam a lot, on the other hand hearing the moaning chant of the brainwashed
