In Studio One I have my 360 set up that color channels match in 360 from Studio One. Every month I make in 360 is mirrored in Studio One real time. I have transport controls in 360 linked with Studio One also. No hardware. Have to set up Mackie control and only works with vst3 versions of each ssl instance. You will also see an option in 360 for either plugin control(ssl channel strip plugin) or daw control to control the plugin or your daws mixer from 360. Maybe you’re only referring to logic not being able to have those controls without any hardware.
Bus compressor is really good, I pretty much always start with that on the 2 bus and rarely take it off. Haven't used the channel strip a lot (because I tend not to use channel strips) but I think it's pretty good although a) I wish it was resizable and b) I wish there was a specific make up gain for the compressor. Auto make up gain not that good and sometimes I like to switch the compressor in/out to really see what it's doing but pretty hard with the level change. Obviously that isn't on the hardware (or any other SSL emulation that I know of) but no reason not to add that feature
