Hey Gary mate , Thanks again for watching means alot . Wow and thank you for the kind comment , i got to agree with you the CRCU is superb for sure a rock solid upgrade for everyone , ive put the big rock through the mill and its just holding up with that motor mount on . Stay awesome Bud Chris :)
I added a plastic ring ordered from ebay to put on the end of the motor. So now the motor is supported at both ends. I do have the upgraded mount by HR.. But the ring is an inexpensive option to help strengthen the motor mount plate. The 4s blx is definitely the way to go. It's nice to have the added strength for those bashing sessions that get a little wild.
Hey there rick , Thanks for the feed back , Do you have a link for this please buddy , i think i would like to add this to my Typhon and Big rock , i had a 3d printed version but it kept popping off all the time . But the upgraded motor mount from Custom RC Upgrades has been amazing on the Big Rock so far no issues at all . Also massive thank you for watching buddy . Stay safe Chris :)
My bigrock mount bent after going down a curb and that stripped the gear instantly. I bought a full aluminium motor mount from Ali which seems to good so far after 4 batteries run through it. The full aluminium mount is great for the heat dispersal also which means the bearings will last longer.
Hey buddy , Thanks for watching , yeah i hear you as i said in the video , myself and my Daughter were just running about not even 15mph and tapped each other and that was enough to bend it , i got a feeling its a lot to do with the motors also mind , they heat up the motor plate so much as the spektrum motors do have a tendency to run hot mind , this then caused the metal to be more pliable . What mount was it buddy do you have a link so i can have a link . Stay safe bud , Chris :)
Hey buddy , i would love to but im on holiday with the family when the event is on as i wanted to cover the event on the channel . Maybe we can keep talking and plan it for next year if thats good for you ? would love to catch up and meet everyone in the future . Hope that your well Stay awesome Chris :)
Hiya mate Brilliant hack and how too tutorial and great advice for owners of these cars from yourself. Shame that one screw rounded off on you. Hope you and the family are all well. Peter
Hey there peter , Yeah awesome little find for us Arrma 3s owners isnt it , big design flaw on the range as i say is the motor mount . Yeah that screw nearly had me baffled , Lucky the box of spares i got had me covered . Hope you guys are well Stay safe Chris :)
Good info, buddy! Well, bad news about the need to replace this, but well presented, good sharing of knowledge! I still haven't got me a Typhon, but definitely this would be somewhere I'd need to upgrade at some point, so now half the research is sorted beforehand, ha ha!
Hey there buddy , Firstly massive thanks for watching , Yes this is a area of problem for most 3s owners for sure if your going to use it in haste . unfortunate it is part that i would recommend you do asap when you get it . Ive ran mine with the stock to see how long it would last and lets just say once nasty off or bump and the weight of the motor stresses the plate and causes it to bend . Stay awesome buddy Chris
WOW Chris and TIm, this is crazy finding! I sold absolute dozens and dozens of motor mounts and I never noticed :D so the 4S is much better and actually a good option for 3S too.
Thanks buddy , Yeah it seems arrma pulled there finger out with this mount dont it . 4s mount its way better engineered , not sure if its still as strong as a CRCU mount though . Thanks for watching and supporting mate , Chris :)
Hi mate - reason I had a spare 4S mount? I fitted a CRCU one almost immediately! All about levels - low level minimal bashing stock one is ok - more air, more bashing go for this cheap 4S upgrade plate - serious skatepark or high jumps CRCU is the only one to have. Great video dude #PONTYPANDYFEST 🎉
Yo Bruva ! , Thank you so so much for all your help with the channel mate , honestly your a awesome bloke and a good mate . Right to the matter in hand planning has been given for #PONTPANDYFEST lol , and as for the motor mount , its going to be interesting to see what abuse that the 3s cars can give it and will it hold up ! , i got a feeling it going to be fine as as the Motor isnt as heavy at all and its not going to have the same force when you crash . I noticed that the anodizing is a lot better on the 4s mount and the metal ive looked in to it is made from a different grade also . Stay awesome Bruva Chris :)
Hiya Chris. You know I left a comment on here when it came out or at least I tried to and I hadn't heard back so I'm having a look and my comment isn't here! Maybe I didn't press enter. I think the gist of what I was saying was that the 4s motor plate is about £30 so it's not a cheap fix but it's worth knowing that it fits. I tend to do more just generally racing the Arrma's around these days as I know it's the jumps that cause most of the problems. I have hammered some the the standard motor plates flat after they bent. Would be good it there was a bracket or something to hold the other end of the motor in place as it must be the weight of that in a hard landing that bends the plate. Anyway, helpful info mate 😁👍👍
Hey there Pete , Oh thats strange buddy ive got the comments on auto allow as well and your most definitely someone i enjoy speaking with thats for sure lol ! ;) Ah yeah the 4s plate is more expensive but when the 3s plate fails its worth upgrading to a better plate i think there is something inherently wrong with the 3s plates . What i would say to most is if you can use a breaker and save a pretty penny and as they say look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves . I have thought about hammering them flat , but ive been told there more prone to bending again in the future and as you know when the plate goes it takes the spur gear and worst case scenario the pinion also . Yeah so you can purchase a 3d printed wedge that goes at the end bell of the motor to support the weight , like a tit i forgot to fit mine ! , also ive heard that a rubber O ring that fits around the motor also does exactly the same thing , i would imagine that it might also be better in some cases . If you was to purchase the 4s plate brand new i would say that for the sake of £7 you would be better off buying a Custom RC Upgrades ( CRCU ) 7075 motor plate , ive had mine in the big rock now for over a year and not given it a easy life and its held up amazingly . i love the modular design of the Arrma motor assembly but it does have its issues . Also ive fitted a metal spur gear on the Big Rock from Aliexpress and then used the motor plates from the BLX line , Slipper pads etc with it and its been brilliant. here is the link buddy , www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005367140673.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.5adf315d3HHhin&algo_pvid=b915e7f1-2a96-4269-b91f-5bb40e73b1d2&algo_exp_id=b915e7f1-2a96-4269-b91f-5bb40e73b1d2-0&pdp_npi=3%40dis%21GBP%2142.64%2124.73%21%21%2153.10%21%21%402145277316890107643085657d074b%2112000032761545343%21sea%21UK%210&curPageLogUid=KtkfrdnP8MQO Sorry for the long winded reply lol :) Hope your well , Look forward to hearing from you soon. @@ChriswithaCrc Many thanks for all the info mate. Yeah let me know if you are heading to the New Forest area and can make a plan to meet. It's rather a long way but if you happen to be on holiday down south. Not sure if I'll make it up where you are this year. I do hope to go up to see Mark Bryan at some point but haven't quite got round to organising it yet. Bit short of cash and days off this year. Cheers for now 😃
No worries at all , so glad i could help you , and may i suggest the Custom RC Upgrades Motor mount buddy , ive been using one for a yeah now and loads of heavy impacts and working great . Stay awesome Chris :)
Hey buddy , On the 3s trucks they work amazingly as the weight of the motor is far less than the 4s motor and its a updated design . Hope that this helps owen , Stay awesome Chris ;)
Another great video mate. Clear, concise and straight to the point. The CRCU motor mount is a work of art 👌
