You know...Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age...
One of my favorite episodes in the whole series!
The way Kendall is protected but trapped by the glass walls, and how the barrier reflects himself...
The scene with Tom and Greg is fantastic. Tom knows Shiv wants an open relationship but he doesn’t. However, he feels powerless in that situation. When Greg talks about being in a professional open relationship, all the pent up frustrations of Tom with Shiv are directed at Greg. It’s like he feels that Greg is his real partner.
great observation
Not his "real partner". Partners are supposed to be equal. That's not how tom treats greg...
One theory about the beginning and the glass wall later is that Logan got notified when they saw Kendall up there on the roof. He watched the footage, and when he hears about someone shooting in the building he immediately asks after Kendall and if hes safe. He probably thought that Kendall shot himself. Thats why hes so uncharacteristically nice to Kendall in this episode. He knows Ken could be suicidal. And thats why he has the glass wall installed almost immediately.
There's a reason why it's a common consensus that this is one of the best episodes of the whole series... So many iconic scenes....
Definitely the funniest episode
Vengo a ver las reacciones de este y el último capítulo a cada rat9
"were there easter eggs in there you didn't get the first time?" by far my fav line in the whole show lol
The panic room scene with Tom and Greg is one of my top 5 Succession moments ever. It is just just an amazing scene. Matthew Macfadyen is soooo good. It is hilarious but it also shows us Tom's mental state. I love how the words "open relationship" triggers Tom 'cause he is literally traumatized from the night of his wedding and basically being tricked into an open relationship. And then the "stop crunching" scene and the water bottles, like, the way it all escalates is just perfect!
"It's executive-level business"😂
i feel like an addict every time an episode of succession gets posted: the high is intense but then i’m immediately itching for the next episode before i’m even finished with the current one 😭😭
I feel exactly the same way
@@ericashepherd9967 glad it’s not just me lol

So the theme for Kendall in this episode is basically him being prone to suicidal thoughts. Logan knows that Kendall is likely to hurt himself and I think that is why when they're first taking him to the safe room the first person he asks about is Kendall. It is also why we get all the rooftop scenes. They put that glass barrier at the end to make sure he couldn't do something to himself. In the scene with Shiv, he is genuine. And what he says there connects to the theme again. He says "If dad didn't need me, I don't know what I'd be for" After the trauma of the accident and also losing all hope of a future where he's the top guy, he just doesn't think he has a purpose anymore. But he isn't allowed to get out of anything. He is literally trapped into a miserable life at this point.
One of the reasons Succession is in my all-time top favorite shows list is how effortlessly funny it is.
Same creator who made Peep Show, and The Thick Of It which are very funny shows.
The scene with Kendall and Shiv at the end broke me. The fact that he even has to ask his own sister to take care of him is so telling of their relationship. Jeremy Strong and Sarah Snook just ate that scene
The ending shot is my absolute favourite Kendall with the glass wall( symbolism how does this show make me sad for a billionaire lmao) & the molester speech is the absolute funniest thing.
Genuinely probably the greatest Tom/Greg scene ever in this one. Iconic.
There is a scene coming up in the next season that’s even better.
@@LC-fx2lowhich episode you're referring to ( without spoilers)?
Idk the finale of next season with the deal and everything? Ultimate tomgreg scene tbh
@@papl20 oh, that one. I only watched Succession one time, so I forgot a lot
This episode is, in my opinion, the *perfect* episode of Succession to show people to get them into it.
The political & business intrigue, the farcical comedy, impeccable dialogue, and intense emotional drama between family members.
Just an incredible episode, and definitely one of the best in the show.
This episode is peak humour for me . Tom and greg just carry this show 😌 and again poor kendal ...
Shiv and Greg both wanted an open relationship with Tom. Tom takes out his frustration on Greg.
Another nice nuance... Logan asking if Kendall is safe 2-3 times, knowing it was gunshots and Kendall is suicidal.
Something that is so interesting about this show is that Connor Roy was interested in politics from a young age.
that kendall and shiv moment is one of my favorite scenes in the show, amazing acting
I think you misread Shiv's role in the panic room by saying that she did a good job and opened up the conversation: she doesn't want the merger (Shiv: "It will either break us or take a decade to integrate") that's why she was not only not doing a good job but actively trying to sabotage the deal in the panic room, which is why she is so dismissive of Kendalls bidding, and why Logan finally raises his voice to Shiv, asking her to back off. Shiv didn't open up anything, as we see in the final scene in the panic room, it was all about the money.
Do you remember this question “are you playing the reverse banjo son” ?
That’s what Shiv did by opening the conversation of “the deal having a price”. In which Logan quickly realised that it wasn’t gonna work with a woman like Rhea, cuz she came to them already saying “NO” to the deal (as a business tactic, I’d presume). Therefore, Shiv interception clears any doubt, of the deal not happening, leading the conversation to a specific monetary number.
And that’s what the CinePals meant by Shiv’s cruciality at that moment.
@@stillup444T No, it was always about a specific number that would make the family happy, even before Shiv "intercepted". Remember when Shiv explicitly says to Rhea: "It's not even about that, right? (talking about a specific figure) and Rhea answers: "Well...". It's clear that Shiv is trying to sabotage the deal, among other things by not wanting it to be about a specific figure, but Rheas answer, and the scene as a whole, tells us otherwise. The point is that Logan thinks everything can be bought, and since the Pierce family has the same capitalist mindset - which Logan and Kendall knows - then the strategy was always going to be offering them more money, which means that Shiv didn't "open up" anything, she was completely superfluous in that room, in fact, and as already stated, she was trying to actively sabotage the deal.
@@magnuskarlsson8655 This is just a testament of how great this show is. I don’t mind being wrong, or right.
We took 2 amazing perspectives out of just one scene🤝🏾
And Shiv as implied by her name doesn’t know how to be a chameleon without looking like one. As stated by the overall writing, she is too on the nose.
If at that moment she played a “cool reverse banjo” that woulda been all the insight Logan need to look at her as a “strong cold wise killer”.
Being able to play both sides without making the “stabbing to obvious”
Sabotaging but without being too loud about it.
This is just an insight into Logan’s mind tho..
@@magnuskarlsson8655 People really underestimate Shiv (just like Logan does lol) because for the Pierces it wasn't about money BUT legacy. They wanted their reputation of being regarded as " the real news" of the country to be preserved. They wanted to still be on the right side of history. And SPOILER
Nan Pierce ended up backing off from the deal when the whole scandal with cruises exploded. Shiv was right.
Logan wanted to give the Pierces 25 billion but they ended up selling it for 10 billion to the siblings. Money sometimes isn't the most important thing in a business deal
@@chipmunkpark8826 The Pierce's "liberal values" are just a means to become even more rich. I'm sorry to disappoint you but It's not about actually having good values. It's just a different, more intelligent route than the Roys has taken, but in both cases politics is just a means to the end of accumulating capital. This should be fairly self-evident, but we also see this depicted in the show: Nan agreeing to the deal despite her "demand" to have Shiv as CEO, and why Nan finally sold to the Roys despite this scandal - and many other scandals after season 2.
The reason why Nan didn't sell to Logan was because she felt betrayed by both Logan and Rhea, which is why she fired Rhea and didn't sell to Roy. She is a narcissist, just like Logan, which means that ego can actually be more important than money - but "liberal values" or "legacy" certainly isn't one of them, which is exactly why she finally sells to the Roys even though every American probably still associate the Roys with the Cruise-line rapes and deaths perpetrated by the Roys themselves.
She lost 15 billion to her narcissism and hurt ego, not to "liberal values" or "legacy", and the proof, again, is that she finally sold her company that is even more disgraced and hated now than before due to the many scandals since, not least because of their manipulation in the election.
As soon as Greg said "I want a open relationship" all the emotions from Tom which he wanted to show shiv poured out on Greg.
This is my favorite season. The scene with Tom and Greg is fantastic. I loved that scene! This is a fantastic episode. Logan showing concern for Kendall was very jarring for me lol. Enjoying y'alls reactions to this wonderful show!
Nothing like Greg and Tom in an office building. Could watch em all day 😂
not being a fangirl but i love the dynamic between gerri and roman, they are my fav duo!! and the scene between ken and shiv is so emotional, can the ending be interpreted as logan taking care of ken or locking him in a cage? i love that succ lets the audience draw their own conclusions
I mean something can be simultaneously funny and disturbing. In actuality Tom is being abusive and targeting his anger towards Greg but it does feel childish to make fun of Tom’s actions. The show constantly toes this line and it works wonders. Both can exist at the same time!
Honestly my favorite episode of the season. Love me some more Greg time.
As someone who has scene the whole series, I’m really enjoying this because I’m noticing things I didn’t even pick up on the first time around, or forgot about, which gives new meaning to the rest of the series as a whole, and a better understanding of the characters.
Matthew Macfadyen is an acting genius!
Guys... Did you know Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age?
JABY NEEDS TO STOP DISREGARDING ACHARA'S FEELINGS ABOUT THE SHOW/SCENES! My God! There doesn't have to be ONE right thing that everyone feels about anything, especially art and cinema! Many feelings/views/opinions can coexist. Stop disregarding her Jaby!
7:07 This is the guy who asked Spider-man to do the flip in No Way Home 😊
This is one of my favorite episodes! Tom and Greg are the best! and Connor is hilarious 😂
Finally!
This is definitely one of the very best episodes in the series!
Really enjoying these Succession reactions. I look for these every day in my sub feed. ❤
Holly Hunter is perfect for this show. They actually nail every guest star or recurring character so well that they just drop right into the world without skipping a beat.
Tom got triggered by Greg saying "open relationship." He can't take his frustrations out on Shiv because he needs to act like he's fine with them having an open marriage even though he hates the idea, so he takes it out on Greg. It's not healthy by any means, but none of the characters on this show behave in a healthy manner.
Other than one other episode, this is probably my favourite ep of the whole series. It captures all that’s superb about the show - the dark humour, the farce, the dynamics and also a deeply emotional dramatic tone too, all balanced. I also find it telling that Logan seems to wonder if the shooter is Kendall. I think he thought he’d done something, but despite having that concern, he continues his form of psychological abuse, which is so disturbing to me.
S4e3 takes the cake for me, long shots and some of the greatest performances in the entire series
I think you are onto something with saying Ken gets the way he gets coz he feels like he is nothing without the position, but I d also point out I think that is how all the kids were brought up so maybe to a lesser extent, but all seemingly feel the same. I feel like the whole relationship of Shiv and Tom reflects that she constantly needs to position herself into power otherwise she feels unsafe and worthless. Ken does it coz he doesnt see any other meaning in li
The scene where Kendal asks Shiv to take caree of him if something happens between him and dad is pure emotion. The hug and the cry of Kendall is sooo accurate to the character. Shiv will always be the my hated character but instances like this gives me confusion whether to hate her or Like her .
As for Kendall stealing it is one of few opportunities for him to be free. To do whatever he wants. Ever since he came back he is under supervision. Like the first scene when he came back to NYC and wanted to ride a bike. What did they do? Gave him a driver, on a motorbike, a symbol of freedom and independence. Same with the glass on top of the building and it is no accident that Logan has asked "is Kendall safe" afert gunshot. He legiimately was concerned, that Kendall could have offed himself.
An attack child 😂 😂 😂
The timing on “Mo like the three stooges?” Was perfect
10:17 When the "Moe" joke finally makes sense!!!!
I think the guy that was used as footstool is the one that committed suicide.
Greg abandoning his ideals (no racism etc. as he said when he first came to ATN) for more money.
Tom emotionally cheating on Shiv.
The Siblings each shining in this episode. Love this episode! And there are much better episodes coming up!
The fact I was worried you both would get bored early in the show and stop watching is nothing but a distant memory now.
I don’t think I gave Connor enough credit the first time I watched this lol
REALLY loving these reactions 👏
1) Kendall does YOU to where he is at🥹😩🫠
2) Tom won’t let get Greg break up with him 😭😂
Roman and Gerri was my favorite ship in the show hahaha. And I'm not ashamed💀
Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age.
Some could say Kendall is more like in a cage at the end there. His dad will not let him go.
I love Tom and Greg's relationship 😂😂😂
****kendall was involved in the death of another human being. I mean, hes dealing with huge amounts of trauma.
I usually dont sit back for all the discussions but in here I gotta.....
25:14 yes, Jaby is correct. Kendall does have a lot of big bro moments throughout the series.
Your laughs are so contagious 😂
“Couple times? Are there Easter eggs in there you didn’t catch the first time?” -Tom Wamsgans with another banger quote lol
The difference with Tom and Greg is there is a power imbalance so while it was a funny scene, it was not ok. lol
Yeah, maybe it would be a bit more okay if Greg would stand up for himself and become angry with this
Tom and Greg aren't on the brother level because Tom is Greg's boss, and the purpose of Tom's actions was to scare Greg and get his anger out, which isn't any less abusive than actively trying to hurt him. Greg blackmailed Tom and got more money, but Tom won that battle too in almost every other sense, getting to keep Greg close and even more beholden to him.
I get what you're saying about the way it _feels_ though, it is filmed comedically and they do feel like kids.
This is one of the best episodes of the entire series.
This is my ultimate favourite episode from this show b/c of Connor's eulogy & Roman's reaction to the 2 sec video clip. 🤣😂😂🤣
my favourite episode. just perfect all around.
Dudes being dudes?? That was abusive.
And they are not like brothers.
It's a pity they never bought back the black guy, he was so good
He’s great in Severance!
next episode is one of my favorites of the season
Greg saying open relationship activated the winter soldier
this episode is hilarious, I feel bad because I laughed so hard at the "molester" joke
I really love your reaction to succession i wish you post everyday ❤
yay!!! another upload!!
THIS IS EXECUTIVE LEVEL BUSINESS
my second favorite ep of season 2!! hmm i love kendall he is my favorite character because yeah all of them is tragic but the writing of the tragedy of this character is on another level and jeremy strong is amazing that i am always looking for his mannerism even if ken is not the center of the scene BUT no one is THE good person in this show tbh they all are terrible succession is a tv show where all of the main characters is fck up lol :/ yeah i am talking about the main characters of course some of the side characters can be good ppl
Open relationship is kind of a trigger word for Tom hahaha 😅
14:09 that look between Kendall and Logan…Shiv was done for
This episode is my favorite (all the finales are good, so I do not mention them).
It's funny, It's sad. It's ICONIC.
Let's gooooooo
Tie your belt folks, Kendall is gonna surprise the sh*t out of you. And you'll get the answer why he's acting like that.. 😮
y'all should watch the inside the episodes they're only 2 minutes
i really like the show but something that always bothered me is how they are inconsistent money wise. Waystar Royco was in a debt of around 2-3 billion in season 1 and that was the whole reason for Kendall bringing in Stewy and Sandy and the main conflict between Kendall and Papa Roy. Yet here we are in season 2 with them just throwing around 20-24 billion like it is chump change.
There's no inconsistency, Sandy and Stewy took care of the debt for them via private capital in exchange for a shitload of shares of the company and a board seat. They are no longer in debt and therefore have the ability to throw around money again.
Do they not have early access on Patreon?

having seen the whole show, the way Achara reads/senses things - particularly the show dynamics, are so ACCURATE. Great observer.
Bit of a JABY on some observations during my first watch lol
❤
connor roy was interested in politics from a very young age
S tier episode
Really wish this episode had gone darker. Like somebody going postal.
BOARRRR ON THE FLORRRRR
do not stop
Tom got triggered by the open relationship statement bcoz of Shiv. God Tom and Greg are my favorite.
Was Shiv 'accidentally' useful? Is it an accident that she is here? Or has Logan planned this carefully and bought her as they plan a takeover of PGM?
The comment made here.. Kendall was never cutthroat.. Seems illogical because cutthroat doesnt mean to be logan always as kendall doesnt want to be logan as you would see in coming episodes where kendall clearly states he is nothing like logan.. If cutthroat's definition is logan what use is that when you put the company in insurmountable debts and then you have the audacity to think you can acquire more companies without worrying about debts. . And the truth is kendall was most suited for CEO role.. Even more than logan and logan rightly knew it.. Just that logan doesn't digest the fact kendall is better than him.. On a side note i have one question.. (Since finale has been aired a long time ago. Still SPOILER ahead.. What did logan really achieve in. His life given that his company 's control was given to an outsider like tom? Can somebody please answer? At one point logan asked kendall to go and build his own company if he wants to be CEO.. So do you think logan was right in rejecting kendall? I think logan said he really loved his children and still couldn't chart proper plan for kendall? And is logan happy from heaven after finale that none of his children directly controlled his company? And in the same vein.. Tom should have created his own company if he wanted to be CEO.. Moral of the story.. Why do parents do this to their own children? Because they have ego bigger than their self.
[SPOILER WARNING]
to answer your question, i think you already aswered it! logan just has that big of an ego that even tho he wanted the company in the family, he didn’t do anything to make that happen. at least, emotionally speaking. that’s why the series is so tragic; the roys, instead of uniting, came to cross each other. it’s their downfall so now tom is ceo of a company that used to belong to the roys. and he didn’t even get it by his own merit, yet still climbed his way up. it’s ironic. it’s why the series left me both unsatisfied, and still understanding that decision…
We’re supposed to feel sympathetic toward Kendall, while conveniently forgetting what an a-hole he can be.
someone is slowly becoming a "Toxic" Shiv
fan ...............
An attack child
Abusive???ACHARA! THIS WHOLE SHOW IS ABUSIVE 😂😂😂
Shiv is just out of her depth with the business negotiations. Talking about editorial freedom when it was clearly about money.
Think you guys gave Shiv way too much credit than she deserved. The conversation would have happened regardless of Shiv. Logan is relentless.
Man, the way Logan ask for Kendall, every relationship in this show is super fucked up, but Logan kinda sees himself in Kendall I feel like, at least more than his siblings
