Well, just received my top trim 2 weeks ago from a 3 month wait. Traded my Q50 and what a difference driving this car is. It's a totally different beast. Luxurious ride and a rocket if you want to.
SMASH! Excellent review! 🎉 I drive a lot of cars. Recently I drove a Prestige Sport 3.3T RWD for my sister who’s looking at this spec. Incredibly well constructed with absolutely every option you could wish for or can think of. I looked at the paint, panel gap tolerances & construction of the doors. All perfect. I drove this back to back with an S4 Prestige. It’s ‘tight’ like an Audi or equivalent BMW. For some spirited driving they are extremely close. Lexus has nothing to offer & is not anywhere close. The 3.3T has a lot of thrust. It is extremely smooth both with the engine, transmission calibrations & suspension tuning. But the G70 in the above trim is feature laden that Audi & BMW don’t offer. It’s ’plush. Plus it’s got a superior warranty. Genesis offers a standard ‘concierge’ service where they will pick up & drop off a loaner while the car is serviced. I believe this is for 3 years I forget the mileage. What other Marque in this price segment offers this? The brand snobs will continue to poo poo this. You’re shooting yourselves in the foot not considering/driving this. Get over yourselves! 😎🏁
@@petchris01 Well said..... btw, here, in Canada, the free maintenance and concierge is good for 5 years.... and they all come in AWD..... Couldn't be happier and get a lot of AWE reactions from everybody... especially in Tasman Blue with sandstorm grey interior...
I tested out a 2022 G70 3.3t AWD, and it was an exceptional experience. The car was sleeper fast with beautiful leather seats and good tech. Not to mention, with a few simple modifications you have a car that can go 0-60 in under 4s while keeping good reliability. Not to mention its relatively unique. Where I am from, many people aren't willing to get one. Edit: I wanted to buy one as my first car but settled for a 2021 RDX base since my parents would have exploded.
Lol, yea this would be alittle much to have as a first car... I would not trust my kid with this as their first car lol, could get into some serious trouble
You can mod any car into a sports car. Get one, you will love it! It is a great car despite what haters may say. Other people will love it too, as it is rare to see it on the streets like the Infiniti Q50 and Alfa Romeo . It drives well and is pretty fast even in comfort mode. The cons is the trunk and back seats are not that roomy.
How you gonna compare tuned fully modded 2016 BMW with stock g70. If you tune it with lap 3 upgrade exhaust etc you'll have just as fun you had with BMW if not more trust me
Very good analysis. Very helpful and wise points. It would be great and appreciated if you could make another video in 6 months time as to your lived experience with + and - issues, if any, after a year with it.
Great honest review. I just picked up a 23 loaded 3.3 Prestige last week ... Grey w/ Black/Red interior ... CPO with 8K miles and original list was 57K and I got it for 43.5 with full factory warranty... was considering getting an M340, but the spec I wanted was 70K ... that’s too much for a Mexican built 3-series that will be worth 30K in 4-years
Nice! I also was considering an M340I but the price of the new, and even used M340is, was so ridiculously high considering how little you get in terms of tech, features, and warranty compared to the Genesis. Just financially didn't make any sense to buy the more expensive car but get less for your money lol
I have to share this. I just bought the 2023 G70 2.0T Prestige Package. It had 5,000 local miles on it at a Genesis dealership. The MSRP was just over 46k. It was marked down to just 36k!!! A $10,000 dollar savings, same year but just a few miles on it! You would never know this car had 5k miles on it. Full warranty and so on. WHAT A SAVINGS! Had I bought it new, and drove off the lot I would have at a minimum experienced a 10K loss, probably more like 13k. Point being, it pays to buy what I call the new/used vehicle. This would also apply to many other cars!
I traded my 2019 G70 lease in for the 2023 3.3T AWD top trim (I'm in Canada) - I got 7K in equity from the lease return and 1K loyalty. So I paid $53K CDN. MSRP is 61K. (53K CAD is 39K USD if that matters) Such a great deal and a brand new car! I loved my 2019 and love my 2023. I think the back seats are useable if you and the person in front are average height or below. Not great but fine for my use. My dealership experience is 10/10 as well. Gas mileage on the highway is fine but in town - not so much LOL. My on and off again gripe is the gauge cluster. It's good except that I know other markets got a better one and that bugs me. The car is a looker and I often get compliments. The BMW, Audi and Merc are all really nice cars too but there really is NO contest in terms of value for money. Those cars are 20K+ more here in the great white north. Good review!
All cars depreciate. Look at 1 or 2 year old BMWs. I get worried buying a sports sedan used. No clue how it was treated. Was it broken in right, was it floored every time they drove it. Im good. I bought new and got mine brand new for 50k i also keep my cars for a long time and pay them off so im not too worried about the depreciation. Plus my dealer got me the bumper to bumper 10 year 100k warranty and lowered my monthly payment at the same time. So for 50k i got a brand new car covered for 10 years. And i dont drive it much i will never hit 100k miles. And ignore the idiot BMW haters. The g70 rated higher than most german cars. Who cares what brand it is. Now a days with all these new car brands out, car brand matters less than ever before. I.e polestar, rivian, i dont need to have a brand badge to be happy. I love my g70
Right, couldn't agree more so many people have no idea how to break in new cars within the 1st 1000 miles and basically sets the cars lifespan forever. It's just not something taught or stated anymore like before. I will never buy another car of any of the big 3 German brands after switching to a GV70, I love it as well. Coming from a BMW product especially feels like they are always trying to nickel and dime you for every little thing and I hate their overuse of plastics in everything. I am older now and man are Genesis just comfortable to ride in, I'm so over, overly sporty everyday cars. People complaining Genesis is another shitty Hyundai, I bet never owned a any of the German brands or understand the development behind it. Considering Genesis/Hyundai, and Kia have talented/famous designers and engineering teams behind them who were former designers and engineers of the big 3 Germans. Albert Biermann, former BMW-M division chief back in the golden era, was happy jumping ship to work for Hyundai,/Genesis,/Kia because they basically let him go all out and do what he does best. Not only that he brought over a lot of his team engineers from M. BMW lost a great person and their identity over the years. Biermann is retired now but still on as an advisor and he has helped set the groundwork for Korean car companies we see today, especially N division. People make a car company not the brand badge in my opinion.
Thank you for bringing up the depreciation. You are legit doing your viewers a serious service. I bought a 2019(in early 2022) RWD 3.3t prestige, with low miles, during the pandemic(no 2022 3.3t in South Florida at the time) for 45k otd. I knew I was paying too much but my previous car got hydrolocked in a flood and I needed another. Close to two years later and I needed a tow vehicle for my track car so I looked at trade in values. My mouth fell open when I saw what people were offering me for the car 16-18 months later. I ended up trading it in for 27k; 2019s of the same trim, with much lower miles than what I put on it, were available for like 32k. I absolutely loved this car but I would never ever buy one new. I'm seeing gently used 2022s(4-8k miles) with depreciation of like 25-30% in the first year.
@@HammysShowcase I got mine 2020 3.3L AWD new only because it was a deal, $5000 off. I leased it for 3 years, and then bought it out for $26000 with KBB value about $34000.
@@СруликРизиньшнюфцельбобенофthat’s what I’m about to do with a 2024. I wanted the upgraded AC controls and leather wrapped horn area on the steering wheel. I felt like those were two areas of the interior that needed an upgrade if you charge $57k. Lease to buy is my plan and with the potential discontinuation in 2025 figured the last production year may hold value slightly better. Who knows lol 😂
I am seriously considering this model (2023) to possibly buy and own next year when my lease on a C300 ends. I want to try something else and I have this in close consideration with a Lexus IS (and, of course, another lease on a 2024 MB). I really like the design (in and out) and appreciate the inclusiveness of what you get for the price. I may just have to test drive and see for myself. Great review.
Most people want luxury with a punch, not a soft sports car, with that said, this vehicle fits the criteria perfectly. Value is always relative so unless you’re built like that buy German, otherwise Genesis is a Better Option in my humble opinion.
Agreed. I grew up with BMWs, that's all my family drove. This fully spec'd G70 feels leaps and bounds more luxurious and just overall a more premium car than any BMW I grew up driving
@@HammysShowcase I’ve never owned a BMW but I know many who have, when they’re tight they’re butter, but the average is not totally luxurious & they can be delicate & the maintenance 😯👀 goes without saying 🤦🏾♂️.
Great video! I had a '21 Sonata Limited and was impressed with all the safety features it had! I loved it! Being that this luxury version of Sonata. I'm going to get the used G70, but I'll be missing some of the features that the Sonata has but the G70 doesn't
@@stevewelbert5039 I give you the digital cluster (i don't look at it since I have HUD ).Cameras, Pan. sunroof, standard... and so much more.. Make sure you go through all the options you get in the G before talking some more.... And believe me, This top trim G Has ALL the bells and whistle a luxury car can have. SMH
Great video. I had a Havana Red 2022 with white nappa leather for 18 months. 3.3 sport prestige. Fun car to toss around and great kick in the gut when accelerating from a stop. Just wished it wasn't as cramp and had a bit more leg room. Lane centering works great on the Genesis, and the infotainment is really fantastic.
@@HammysShowcase needed a bit more room. After test driving BMW 540 and merc e450 I have new found respect for the G70. I still miss the G70 often but I really wanted more space, thus I ended up with a BMW 540.
I bought the refreshed G70 brand new (2022 and fully loaded like in this video, AWD 3.3t) for a listing price of 52k in 2022, the prices skyrocketed after that so I just want to make that clear.
Oh believe me I know. When this refresh first came out, I had it priced out and everything. Tax and all it was gonna be $54k brand new. This car now brand new, without tax, is $56k lol
I've had an AWD, but otherwise base me del of the '23 G70 for 6 months. It's a fantastic car. It's not a sports car. I didn't want a sports car. I wanted a nice car with elevated luxury elements. It fires on all cylinders for what i wanted. I don't worry about depreciation. I drove my previous car for 19 years. I keep my cars. By the time im done with them... They're fully depreciated 😂
Good review of the car though I feel it downplays a bit the greatness of that car. I’ve own one for a few months now ( 2022 3.3T sport AWD, the top trim in Canada). I’m with you when you describe it as not a sport car. It’s a luxury car you can do spirited driving with. The driving dynamics are awesome regardless of the driving mode selected, the gearbox is close to perfection, the seat comfort is great in the front ( not good for 6ft+ adults in the back though!), very quiet. Handling dynamics are 2000’s BMW like ( better than what I’ve seen in the last generation of BMW 3 series). So if you want it as a daily driver and have fun with it whenever you want , it’s a good pick. The exterior style is gorgeous, a nice blend of Maserati Quatroporte style with German design. Finally, the warranty and the free service for 5 years (in Canada) makes it a better bang for the bucks than the German alternatives. The gas mileage is atrocious in town but surprisingly really good on the highway. Final thought( I’m with you too on that one !), go drive it and make a decision for yourself !
Yeah I brought mine brand new as my first car, and there is no telling what a used car has been through, I think it’s better to lease and then buy the car later on cause then the interest isn’t so bad but I brought mine straight out
Saw a 2023 full loaded prestige 3.3t same as your car, with only 400 miles on it, CPO from a Genesis dealer for $42k. Prices are dropping. In 2024, that's an incredible deal for what you get. I might buy it.
Heck yeah, $42k is a steal. Prices will only get cheaper. I imagine in 3-4years from now you'll be able to pick up very low mileage G70s for like mid 30s.
Premium fuel required is what the door cap says. People are gonna tell you that it's fine to use unleaded, but I would highly recommend not doing that without a tune to run lower fuel. If you csnt afford the premium gas and that's a concern, then you need to look at a cheaper car.
your complaring a stock g70 to a bolt on bmw that makes no sense. but an exhaust air intake and suspension and the car drives insanely good. the steering is amazing. this is more like 60 percent sport 40 percent luxry
The G70 has been around since 2017 and has won JD power car of year. It has not had the same engine failures and widespread issues that the Hyundai cars have and is considered by most car reliability venues to be very reliable. Time will tell, but i think unless you get a lemon it shouldn't be a problem car.
I need to find more reviews like this.. owner reviews after purchasing. All these new car review guys taking cars right off the dealer lot and testing them is pointless. All brand spanking new cars are going to run great obviously. Thanks for honest and informative review. Would love to see another down the road if you keep it longer.
I was thinking of purchasing a used G70 but the depreciation what kills me. I currently have a 2014 Lexus IS350 RWD and the value is still high on it with 89,000 miles on it.
Never driven the S5 so can't offer any feedback there. Definitely weigh the considerations of warranties and cost of ownership tho. Those two thing were very important to me and pushed me away from Audi and BMW. But definitely go drive both cars. You never know what you truly like till you drive them. I was totally obsessed with the Audi TTS and was considering that or the G70, but after I drove the TTS, I was not impressed at all. It was several thousand more expensive than the G70, but the performance on it sucked and it basically has zero options and features. That's just to give you an example of a comparison I made when car shopping. I still think the TTS is a sexy looking car, but the price for how slow it is and how very little options and features come on it was a big turnoff for me
Thank you for your amazing sharp and clear awareness !!!❤ I would like to ask you about what car would you recommend, if i want to have a more sporty car experience, but paying around 50k, there's so much information and videos which car is the best, and I get so confused 😕 .
For a more sports car feel I would look into the M235i, the Audi TTS, the new Supra, the Elantra N, Toyota FRS/Subaru BRZ, the new Nissan Z or older. All of these cars you can buy used for under $50k and some brand new for less than $50k. Now each of the cars mentioned all have varying horsepower and feel of acceleration. But they are all going to handle and feel really good in terms of being a "sports". They all have very tight cockpits and you feel connected to the car. I mentioned those specific cars because that is what I have either driven before or am familiar with and what first came to mind. So don't limit yourself there. But for all of the cars I mentioned, they are all drivers cars that are manufactured to be a sports car. End of the day you really just gotta get out there and drive them. Every car feels totally different. I personally love coupes, and my top pick for a sports car would be the M235i, or the Audi TTS. The Toyota FRS is also a super fun car to drive, but it's just really slow and underpowered for my liking. But the drive aspect makes up for it. No one car is going to be the best, it all comes down to what you as the driver prefer. Just because someone says a certain car is the best, sports car, doesn't mean you'll like it. It all comes down to personal preference. The new Elantra N is supposed to be a super fun sports car. Never driven one, but I've heard it's a ton of fun. Hope this helps or makes sense haha
You lose the 10 year warranty if you buy it pre-owned. That's why I bought a loaner. 51k fully loaded. It's got 7k miles on, but I still keep the warranty. That's worth the money. Im gonna keep it for the next 12-15+ years, so I dont care about depreciation.
You do not lose the warranty. I bought mine CPO with one previous owner. All the warranties and even the 3 years complimentary service passed down to me. The next three years I don't have to pay for tire rotations or oil changes which Genesis charges $130 for. Already taken my car in for service to have oil change as well as have a tailight assembly replaced. All covered under complimentary service and warranty.
Most I've ever paid was around $48. Typically is around $40-$45 range. Will depend on gas prices in your area tho. My other car runs on normal gas and the price difference between normal and premium fuel really isn't much different.
Great review. I enjoyed it . I was shopping around looking to lease a genesis or a German. I love my German vehicles. I was looking at the time for the year 2023 models of G70.GV70, GLC43, amg , BMW m340i. I went with the 23 x3M40i and I loved it. Took 2.5 months to build it. I ordered I last year in October ,received it in December. Great advice for ppl who want to finance to own. I typically lease my cars because I like the newest of the new, But I do like your genesis congratulations
I just bought a brand new 2023 g70 3.3t sports prestige awd with the red brembo brakes last March for $55,000 before taxes. The sales man knocked off $1000 for me from the price they advertised. If you want to buy a 2022 or 2023 m340i, it's going to set you back at least $60k minimum in the used market. Brand new is $67k but like everyone always say, you get what you paid for. Definitely the G70 3.3t is slower than the m340i with that underrated b58 motor. 382hp advertised but really it's more like 450hp. The G70 3.3t is also underrated also. I've seen people dyno their older generations 2020 g70 3.3t stock and they are getting about 320-330whp, which is roughly 400hp ish. So it's actually a pretty quick car for a stock car.
@@kuvyoghmoobamelica6883 congratulations on your new car. I was definitely looking to lease one of those Genesis I mentioned, But I have always been a BMW ,Mercedes , and Audi fan more so a BMW fan then Mercedes as a 2nd choice. I believe the B58 Eng is very underrated. The Eng still surprises me how fast my SUV is. When my lease is up, I want to BMW M3cm. Bmw are pricey ,but to me it’s worth it.
Currently shopping for one and the price depreciation is exactly whats keeping me away. I would love if it held value but eating 10k in year 2-3 is wild. I hoping my local dealer also calls it quits and lets me sneak a used one out the door for 40k. I hope december brings good tidings.
Keep searching. Good deals are out there, and will eventually pop up. Buddy of mine last year got a fully loaded 2022 year model for $38k with only 6000 miles. Manager's special
Unless you’re getting the full factory warranty with the CPO or used, it’s not worth it. Warranty goes down from original owner to second owner (same with Kia and Hyundai)
I bet it has the 4cyl powertrain. That significantly reduces cost. I would be amazed if he got one with the 3.3T for $38k, if so then thats a heck of a steal and someone lost alot of money on that deal haha@@kuvyoghmoobamelica6883
@@HammysShowcase For sure they lost money lol. I bought a brand new 2023 G70 3.3t sports prestige awd also for 55K. I mean I might as well. Only reason why I didn't buy used is cause, the g70 and stingers has always been a pretty good tuning car. Most stingers out there are either with JB4 or Lap3 tuned. Rather not buy a used one for less money just because of that. I buy new so that way I know it wasn't molest with modifications. That's just my 2cents.
When discussing depreciation, why did you not discuss depreciation of other comparable vehicles? For example, I once bought a BMW 650i for over $100K and sold it for $30K. I also bought my Genesis G70 slightly used as it was a dealer courtesy vehicle for $10K below it's MSRP. This can be said about every manufacturer.
That's because there is no other brand new fully optioned and fully loaded car on the market that you can get for as cheap as the G70 and that is in the same segment/price range. Fully loaded M340is that are two years old are still selling for more than what you can get a slightly used brand new model year G70 for. Same goes for the other brands. You for sure can't get a brand new model year lexus slightly used and fully loaded for $45k or less. The G70 is $60k fully loaded, and you can get one used less than a year later for $45k and less than 20k miles. Mine is a 2023 model year, I bought it in April of 2023 4 months after the car was made. Had 4000 miles on it and I paid $45k. No other car in this segment, fully loaded, goes for that cheap for the same model year and even one year old. Depreciation is real on this car. Sure other cars depreciate, but not as fast as this car does in just one year. If you want a fully optioned M340i that is 1 year old, you're gonna still be paying sticker basically. Definitely not below $50k
Very honest straight forward review especially about the depreciation aspect which most car reviews hardly ever mention. I hear that Genesis will possibly continue the Genesis for 2024 and pop in a more powerful engine in the base model which is good news. The depreciation aspect however would give me pause before buying one new but I wonder if the lower tier 4 cylinder turbo models have that same depreciation issue as the top of the line models?
@@bigden2755this one deprecites alot compared to some others lol. You can't buy a used BMW fully loaded only 1 year old for mid to low 40s. Thus Genesis however you can.
TBH if you look up the % of depreciation on european brands and is even worse so the formula to buy used applies the same, regarding the 4 cyl. Im leasing one and after 3 years the buyout is in the low 20's which is great cause I only have less than 5k miles on my 22 but Im looking to swap out to the 2.5, Don't need twin turbo and the Speeding tickets and higher insurance premiums.
You gotta look at this car as a coupe, cause that's really what it is. Just a coupe that they put 4 doors on. I was looking at other cars like the Supra, Audi TTS, and the 4series bmw coupe. So it didn't really matter to me what the rear legroom was like and I couldn't have cared less lol, cause i was going to be buying a coupe anyway if I hadn't discovered the G70. So if anything to me, its a more functional coupe lol
Im torn between a 2023 Sport Prestige G70 or a 2024 Advanced G80...tough choice. Im currently in a 2023 Honda Civic Type R and slowly fazing out of the "Sports Car" feel
The G80 is going to be more of an old man car. The G70 gives you a nice mix of refined, quiet, smooth luxury, but also a sports car when you want it to be. The G80 is gonna be more along the lines of a BMW 5 series
G70 3.3T with a lap3 tune is the far superior option if you want a highly reliable vehicle that can also go 0-60 around 3.7 seconds for around 20k less than a m340i with a 100k mile 10 year warranty and also cheaper insurance and repair costs... Its a no brainer imo.
All very true. I just wish the engine in this car sounded better. OR someone made an exhaust that actually sounds good for this car. The aftermarket support for this car absolutely sucks lol. Its gonna suck even worse if they end up killing this car off like everyone keeps hinting at.
@@HammysShowcase I personally think it sounds ok. I owned a Stinger GT2 which has the exact same setup under the hood and I put a MBRP cat back on it and it was super loud on cold starts but while driving sounded pretty good. And yeah I think they're about to can the G70 either this year or next which really sucks. This whole EV movement is destroying so many great cars...
I bought my new 2023 Genesis in April, 2023, MSRP of $54,100, for $47,000 including incentives. I had shopped a new and a used BMW but there was no price concession from either asking price. Further, the Genesis dealer gave $3,500 more for my trade., a 2020 Mustang GT convertible with 14,000 miles. That saved me an additional $245 in sales tax. I'll worry about the depreciation in three years. Meanwhile, I really enjoy the car. Oh, and I've owned 15 BMWs.
That's a alot of BMWs haha. How do you think this Genesis compares to the BMWs you have owned? I grew up with my parents owning several BMWs, and I honestly think this G70 is leaps and bounds better than any BMW my parents have ever owned. Except my dad's M235i, that car one was in a million.
I picked up a 2022 with the same package as in this video and it was selling for 52k brand new, you must have bought the 2023 right before they raised the prices. This video is a little misleading on that front.
This guy clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Hyundai is not a crappy car company and it’s ranked amongst the top five in reliability out of 32 brands. Get your facts straight.
I don't remember saying they're a bad company. They used to be, but have come a long way. I admire their cars above any automaker right now, they're doing some really impressive stuff.
Disagree, my Genesis dealership is extremely professional and you get treated how you would expect a luxury dealer to treat you. Have had to visit them twice for service and warranty repairs. Very impressed both times. As with any brand, you're going to have bad apples and can't judge them all based on one
I'm actually glad it depreciates so much so I can buy a used one! I would keep it for 10+ years anyways so the depreciation is not an issue. It ticks all my bubbles. I'd need to try one out to see if I would prefer the AWD or RWD version though.
Agree with you there, depreciation is a good thing for used car buyers lol. And a note on the AWD vs RWD. The AWD model will put 90% of the power to thr rear wheels when in sport mode, but yet you have this safety net of the AWD system. I always prefer an AWD car over RWD. Overall safer and less likely to hydroplane or lose traction.
@@HammysShowcase I'm in Florida so not an issue. But I am considering moving to Colorado in the future so something to think about. Ty for the information, didn't know how rear biased the awd system is.
I honestly think you won't be able to get a 2022 G70 3.3t in 2024 for less than 45k. It doesn't really depreciate that much just yet. I mean you can buy the previous g70 that looks like shit for like $30k but not the 2022+ models.
Here are my thoughts: you said the G70 doesn't perform as well as other sports cars. But the elephant in the room is that the ones that do stay in the shop! Check engine light this...Check engine light that. The only car makers that can make a car perform up to par with the other usual suspects is Asian engineered cars. If they made their cars perform to the level of other said cars they too would be in the shop as much as the others brands. In conclusion: what Asian engineering has done is find that perfect balance (sweet spot if you will) of reliability, performance and luxury. I'll take the G70 over ANY of its comparable German models any day.
You make a very valid point sir. You especially can't get a good sports car that comes with a 10 year standard powertrain warranty. It wouks cost you like $10k extra to get that with a German car... Lol. To be real tho, I think if Genesis were to create an "N" version of the G70, that would be incredible. Add a crazy sounding exhaust, maybe put their 3.5 liter in there. I'd totally buy that
@HammysShowcase OMG, I've been preaching that for years!! If they would just make say..the LC500 with a limited production model called the LC500 Spec1 or something it would be an absolute beast, even if it weren't as reliable as the regular version purists would buy it for its long waited performance
worst nightmare is dealing with genesis dealer they dont have parts ti fix cars or you need to waight months to fix stupid little things so yea that 10 years warranty is a scam
All depends on the individual dealer. Doesn't matter the brand, they all have bad apples. My local dealership experience overall was great and super to easy to work with them
Thanks for the analysis, been looking for an honest genuine review for a while now! I’ve been eyeing this car for so long but not sure if I should get the 2T for low 30s or if I should get the 3.3T for high 30s/low 40k. Any thoughts on that? Also considering getting the Elantra N for more of a sporty driving experience but I’m too indecisive 😭
I would definitely say go for the 3.3T. The torque on it is so addictive and the launches still blow me away every time. If you get one that doesn't have the sport prestige package, you could probably find one in the low 40s to mid 30s range I imagine. The sport prestige package adds alot to the cost of the car, you just won't get the diamond seats and door sills if you don't get the sport prestige. As for the elantra N. Yes, that is going to be a much more sporty and I might even argue more fhn drive experience. As I stated in the video, The G70 is a refined luxury car more than it is a sports car. So all depends on what is more important, but the performance on this G70 is so addictive and when you put it in sport mode the car becomes and entirely different beast, just gonna drain your gas tank tho lol. End of the day, you just gotta get out there and test drive both cars and decide which one you like better. The G70 is a super unique car and you will for sure stand out on the road if you go the G70 route. Again, you just gotta drive both cars. The Elantra N is going to be an entirely different drive experience. Hope that helps. Feel free to reach out with more questions, happy to help.
@@HammysShowcase hey man, thanks so much for the reply. This really helped a lot! Will see and test drive both in person and make my choice then :) Cheers!
@@HammysShowcase I have one note for u. When u replace gear oil at 38K, use ONLY recommended gear oil 75W-85. Better order it from Genesis. Do not make my mistake. I used 75W-90 and this oil ruined rear differential. Genesis is replacing it now on warranty. For a couple of days I'm driving brand new G70 3.3L ☺
They don't depreciate as quickly as this car tho. I posted a video on it, but you can get one of these fully loaded for under $45k in just one year. None of the German cars depreciate that much in just one year, otherwise I'd be over here driving an RS3 or M340i lol. 2021 year model German cars are still selling for around the $45k price range. But if you want a newer used model, they're still selling for brand new price tag basically
So I know there’s a price difference, but I had a Stinger, sold it during COVID for the same price, went economical for a bit due to work, got a promotion, was back in the market. Having owned a Stinger before but wanting to move into luxury, I obviously looked at the G70, BMW M340i, Audi S4, and Mercedes 300 and 250. This G70 just didn’t compare. It was dead last to me, and they were all in the same price range. I ultimately went with the M340i, it beat everything else in every category for me. I miss my Stinger but it was mostly because in 2020 I got a GT for 31k! Now the same engine with a few cosmetics is 50k. Were Stingers still 30k, I would have gotten another one. But with current prices, BMW was the way to go, especially the M340i.
All personal preference. But that's funny, I looked at all the same cars you did, and in my mind there was absolutely no comparison between them and the G70. The G70 was a no brainer to me. Wayyyy more affordable, wayyy more features, and is just overall a better looking and more unique car that stands out on the road. But to each his own, we all got different tastes 😉
@@HammysShowcase absolutely! Don’t get me wrong I loved my Stinger, and therefore had love for the G70. The M340i was just in a slightly different class. All great cars!
My local dealership has been phenomenal to work with. One of my tailights shorted out and they had to replace the entire assembly all covered under warranty. Also had my oil changed and tires rotated at the same time. It was a great experience and very professional. Not all dealerships are great, but I personally have not had a bad experience with my car
Yes you should. I have one with 500 to the ground. Drives like the millennium falcon... . She doesnt look like much kid. she'll do .1 past L.S.(3 sec 0-60) kid. ( unless you can afford to chip an s5 or 6. Those walk off on me)
I test drove the GT2 Stinger Scorpion Edition right after a G70 and I was not impressed. Felt like a very cheap, but over priced car to me. To each his own tho, I know the Stinger has a cult following, more power to em
Stinger is another good choice but I don't think it looks better than g70 not even better than older models. It's very long almost as long camry or Accord, gives granny vibes. Can't argue performance tho
It's not anymore of a Hyundai than a Lexus is a Toyota. Genesis is an entirely different brand from Hyundai. Same mother company, but the cars each company produce are leaps and bounds apart from eachother.
Their service departments have changed since you would have owned yours. Hyundai dealerships no longer will service Genesis cars. You gotta go to a standalone Genesis dealership. They are extremely professional and easy to work with. At least my Genesis dealership is. I think alot of the service problems originate from having to service these cars at Hyundai dealerships in the past.
You're missing out in life if you purely restrict yourself to a brand and who owns that brand. Volkswagen is the mother company for and owns Porsche, Audi, lamborghini, Bugatti ect. So basically a porsche is still just a crummy Volkswagen and same for Audi, they're still just Volkswagens. Now that's pretty stupid logic if you ask me, cause clearly just because Volkswagen owns Porsche or Audi and even share the same parts and tech doesn't make them another crappy Volkswagen now does it?
Lamborghini shares a ton of Volkswagen parts, but lamborghini charges you $1000 more for them lol despite being a regular old Volkswagen part. Can look it up yourself, Donut Media did a video on this
Which means nothing. People who say this can never make an actual argument our bring up facts to back their statements, they just call it a "Hyuandai" and leave the comment section lmao. Hyaundaiphobia at it's best.
Is this car a smash or pass? Should you buy one? Or is it still just a crummy Hyundai 😂. Let me know in the comments below 😁
Well, just received my top trim 2 weeks ago from a 3 month wait. Traded my Q50 and what a difference driving this car is. It's a totally different beast. Luxurious ride and a rocket if you want to.
Traded my Beemer for the Genesis and I can’t be any happier! By the way most German cars also depreciate a lot.

I've had a C43 and currently drive a Audi S5. I'm seriously considering this vehicle. For almost 20K less than my current Audi, It's worth a look...
100% worth a look. I was a BMW fan boy growing up, but I quickly betrayed the brand once I discovered this G70 😂
@@HammysShowcaseoh. Thank God I found you. Thought I was the only traitor. It's a different type of power.
I already have posted one. Can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/XWySLBysGbQ/видео.html
@@HammysShowcasei trade in my previous g70 for an m340i and the m340i is miles better in every aspect
I had a q50 FBO 3.0t but it was stolen and I been looking at the genesis 3.3t and and Audi s5 and what the genesis offers makes me want it 5x more
I have to share this.
Buying like new/used is definitely the move 😄. Enjoy your G70!
Where u get it I want one
Good deal! Couldn't agree more with you
... and compared to Germans, warranty is another planet...
Well said!
I don't think the warranty covers '' bumper to bumper '' for 10 yrs, though. It's 5 and power train, 10.... Read the dealer paper work carefully...
@@h.m.8589 Couldn't agree more.
@@h.m.8589 Before G70 I had Hyundai Azera.

The depreciation is good for used car buyers lol, but definitely not good if paying full price brand new
@@HammysShowcase I got mine 2020 3.3L AWD new only because it was a deal, $5000 off.

What did you end up buying, Ronald, after your lease was up? I'm currently building up G70 from damage and wanted to know if you'd bought one?
Most people want luxury with a punch, not a soft sports car, with that said, this vehicle fits the criteria perfectly. Value is always relative so unless you’re built like that buy German, otherwise Genesis is a Better Option in my humble opinion.
Agreed. I grew up with BMWs, that's all my family drove. This fully spec'd G70 feels leaps and bounds more luxurious and just overall a more premium car than any BMW I grew up driving

Oops, didn't mean to downplay the car. Was trying to give a middle ground overview haha
Well said... I own one too and agree with your statement... Highway gave me 27 mi. per G./ 8.4L/100Km.Btw, great audio system...
Does it say in the owner's manual that you have to use supreme unleaded gas? What if you put in regular unleaded?
Premium fuel required is what the door cap says. People are gonna tell you that it's fine to use unleaded, but I would highly recommend not doing that without a tune to run lower fuel. If you csnt afford the premium gas and that's a concern, then you need to look at a cheaper car.
your complaring a stock g70 to a bolt on bmw that makes no sense. but an exhaust air intake and suspension and the car drives insanely good. the steering is amazing. this is more like 60 percent sport 40 percent luxry
What d'you think about long term ?

The G70 has been around since 2017 and has won JD power car of year. It has not had the same engine failures and widespread issues that the Hyundai cars have and is considered by most car reliability venues to be very reliable. Time will tell, but i think unless you get a lemon it shouldn't be a problem car.

I was thinking of purchasing a used G70 but the depreciation what kills me. I currently have a 2014 Lexus IS350 RWD and the value is still high on it with 89,000 miles on it.
Barely 300 hp it ain't worth the money. Outdated design. The only thing lexus got going for it is reliability hype and lexus badge
I am in the market for new vehicle. My options are the Genesis G70 and Audi S5. Any feedback?
Never driven the S5 so can't offer any feedback there. Definitely weigh the considerations of warranties and cost of ownership tho. Those two thing were very important to me and pushed me away from Audi and BMW. But definitely go drive both cars. You never know what you truly like till you drive them. I was totally obsessed with the Audi TTS and was considering that or the G70, but after I drove the TTS, I was not impressed at all. It was several thousand more expensive than the G70, but the performance on it sucked and it basically has zero options and features. That's just to give you an example of a comparison I made when car shopping. I still think the TTS is a sexy looking car, but the price for how slow it is and how very little options and features come on it was a big turnoff for me
I’m waiting for the end of 2024 to purchase a 2022/2023 with low mileage. I totally agree with you not purchasing a brand new one.
Lucky for us, these G70s drop in value crazy fast, perfect for used car buyers
Thank you for your amazing sharp and clear awareness !!!❤
I would like to ask you about what car would you recommend, if i want to have a more sporty car experience, but paying around 50k, there's so much information and videos which car is the best, and I get so confused 😕 .
Wow wow thank you again for coming in sharp and clear ,and fast reply 🙏🙂

I believe the warranty gets downgraded from 10 years to 5 or 6 to next owners.
If its pre owned then you don't get the 10 year warranty but if it's cpo then you still get the 10 year warranty.
How much is a full tank of gas of premium in this car?
Most I've ever paid was around $48. Typically is around $40-$45 range. Will depend on gas prices in your area tho. My other car runs on normal gas and the price difference between normal and premium fuel really isn't much different.
Just bought a 2022 G70 3.3T AWD 29k miles for $35k.
Love your take on this.

Carfax has G70’s 3.3T around that price 40k-45k
Lease it the residual is crazy for exactly that. I got my 3.3t for 559 a month
@@layne4376 I mean 10k on an already used fancy Hyundai that was 47k to begin with.. it's not the same situation as a 60k BMW.
Unless you’re getting the full factory warranty with the CPO or used, it’s not worth it. Warranty goes down from original owner to second owner (same with Kia and Hyundai)
Where did you get the chrome handles? Are the covers for the handles?
Chrome handles for inside the car? That's how they are from the factory.
Got a 22 certified Pre-owned Sport Prestige with 12K miles for $38K. Loving this car. 👍
Great to hear!
No way. Where I live where AWD matters, the 2022-2023 g70 sports prestige is still $50k minimum. Never seen one for $38k at all.
Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for the sub 😆
C'mon ..... ALL cars depreciate .... SMH
@@bigden2755this one deprecites alot compared to some others lol. You can't buy a used BMW fully loaded only 1 year old for mid to low 40s. Thus Genesis however you can.
@@CyberSkunk90 You will not buy a fully loaded, 1 year old M340i for mid-forty money !!! What's the name of your little planet, again ?? ...... SMH
The 2024 has a much better stock engine. Don't care about depreciation. I keep my cars for 10 year so I bought new and no regrets!
Agreed. I also keep my car for a long time
This brand is meant for an older audience. Those of us that are done with the German brands in general
At this price level the nonfunctional backseat is a pass for me. Agree 100% buy this used/certified.
The G80 is gonna be more along the lines of a BMW 5 series
different price range.... coming from a R to G80 ??? sounds so weird....
Guessing you bought the basic 3.3t? Because I paid $61k after taxes for the 2023 g70 3.3t sports prestige awd.
Watching this video bc I recently bought one and thing big thin I noticed is that we in the same city 👀
Small world. What color/spec did you get?
See the prices now? 30k, 2 months after they were 40k.
Don't doubt it
I’m considering this car over the m340i.
Only thing i dont like about Genesis is the dealer network, you will be treated like a hyundai owner not a luxury car owner.
I’m in Florida and I’m in the market for this car because my 2018 Accord Hydroplaned on my way to Kissimmee.
@@starfishandroid Maybe it's a tire issue....
My local dealership experience overall was great and super to easy to work with them
@@HammysShowcase yea but generally the suck ass
Mercedes, bmw, and audis depreciate fast also. Youll lose approx 50 pct on an s class in 5 years or less, and you wint have a warranty
It seems to be a sports luxury car so I totally understand why it doesn’t feel like a true sports car.
Porsches, ferraris, Astin Martins, for examples, are TRUE sport cars. What's your point, then ???
making it a sedan makes insurance go down by a metric f*** ton so i’m happy about it LOL
My previous car was a Scion TC and my insurance went up with this G70, but not by much. Honestly isn't that bad at all.
gotcha, sion tcs are also cheap cars lol but fair point@@HammysShowcase
Beautiful design
Issue with Genesis is their service program!!! Compared to the other luxury brands and the amount Genesis charges, this is a huge let down
My local dealership has been phenomenal to work with. One of my tailights shorted out and they had to replace the entire assembly all covered under warranty. Also had my oil changed and tires rotated at the same time. It was a great experience and very professional. Not all dealerships are great, but I personally have not had a bad experience with my car

Their service departments have changed since you would have owned yours. Hyundai dealerships no longer will service Genesis cars. You gotta go to a standalone Genesis dealership. They are extremely professional and easy to work with. At least my Genesis dealership is. At the end of the day it’s a Hyundai. So it’s a no go for me.Even at 40k or 5k straight pass
Exactly.
Can look it up yourself, Donut Media did a video on this
You're narrow minded... but it's ok .... ....
