Railfanning Amtrak, NS, & CSX in Selma NC 08/01/2023 (ft. AMTK P40DC 814, 46, Auto Train, & more!)

On August 1st 2023, I made the trek to Selma NC to catch some mainline action. I was very pleased with the results. The special things to note are the extra Cafe Car on the northbound Amtrak Silver Star (AMTK 92), double units on the northbound Carolinian (AMTK 80) with the trailing unit being P40DC 814, a CSX local running Long Hood Forward, Amtrak 46 (Phase V “Heritage” unit) trailing on the southbound Silver Star (AMTK 91), and the 38 car Auto Train (AMTK 53) with P40DCs 835 and 821 leading. *Note the last two trains (91 and 53) I caught in Garysburg NC, which is about an hour north of Selma, close to the Virginia Border.
