  • The oceans in their immensity are home to thousands of species of animals.
Few of these species are known to humans, because only five percent of the ocean floor has been explored.
And every day new species are being discovered.
When we talk about marine animals, the feared white sharks come to mind.
Giant whales and dolphins are also at the top of that list.
In addition to them, there are other spectacular creatures.
    Some live alone.
While others are found in the thousands, such as sardines.
    These live in huge schools.
Sardines are small, silver-colored fish that feed on plankton and small microorganisms.
Each female lays up to sixty thousand eggs during the reproductive period.
Spawning takes place close to the coast, so fishing is prohibited during the breeding season.
In addition to people, other predators of sardines are seabirds and dolphins, which are excellent hunters. And they also serve as food for giant whales.
See this incredible act that, if it hadn't been filmed, no one would have believed.
A group of whales are hunting the sardines and devouring them.

A “group” of whales? I think you mean a pod.

A Google search returned this: "Pod: a group of usually related whales or dolphins of the same species that tend to travel together; in transient killer whales, the term "group" is used in preference to "pod" because groups are not necessarily made up of related animals."
There is room for a degree of flexibility, I think.
