  • Here I go again sacrificing my dignity for content.
Being a loser in high school humbled me pretty good. And it taught me a few things that you might be interested in learning too. But I'm barely an adult and still have a lot more to figure out, so take everything I'm saying with a grain of salt. It's not that serious.
Plus tips to get into college lol.

@@Ichigo-dh9rd I play the violin for almost 7 years now. The most difficult part in the beginning is probably your posture which takes about 2-3 weeks to get comfortable with (at least for me). Trust me, posture is super important and be sure to learn it correctly or you will have a hard time unlearning and then relearning the correct way. I should also add that learning vibrato (usually after your first year of playing) is also really difficult and involves correct posture (took me over a year to do it correctly and naturally). But in the end, everything is dependent on practicing everyday. So you might get comfortable earlier if you spend more time practicing :)

    • @estherlam9161

@@Ichigo-dh9rd hi! it didn’t take me too long to learn the basics, once i started it just came to me after spending quite some time practicing. I would say it depends on how much time you really spend playing and practicing. For me getting past the basics was pretty simple, but after that more complicated skills took me quite a while to get right!

Dude the gaming thing and friendship on that, it is like my exact situation, in freshman year, got into fortnite really hard, made friends that played for title in my school, basically we played together everyday for a year, and in school too, we would only talk about fortnite , in my sophomore year end I stopped video games, as I lost a lot of time, as soon as I quit, my friends and I didn’t have any thing to talk abt, so now I’m junior year, i have no friends . PS ; I was in sophomore year during the past year aka the pandemic, and it forced me to play more and more!

I’m a Junior too. I’ve seen both sides-believe me when I say that the best thing you can do is force yourself to get involved. Play a sport, challenge yourself, do some activity. If you want to make friends and meet people then put yourself in situations that will make it easy to. It doesn’t matter if you are socially awkward or have no experience and your domain-like anything else the you only get better through experience. If you have surface level friends that you meet through school or activities, the way you become great friends is by going out of your way to invite them to hang out in the weekends. Sometimes, it will take a long time to find your crowd, but you’ll get there eventually. You’re not alone.

I also noticed that I end up hanging out with the bad kids as well, that talk crap about me behind my back just for the sake of others not thinking i'm alone. And honestly all of that ruined my mental health. And thanks to quarentine, I just starting to get myself together, by being productive and trying new things, and Im slowly finding myself. I had a bunch of friends in middle school, decided to go to the same high school just to find that I just didn't really fit in with them. I eventually decided to leave my friend group freshman year and spent the next 4 years of high school alone. My insecurities definitely took a big hit because of this decision but I'm honestly glad I did it. That last bit about the flawed system is comforting, thank you. I find myself, even as a freshman in high school, screening all my actions based on what colleges will want or like, and it’s nice to be reminded that it’s important to just go after what you want rather than what colleges want because admissions is wack af. Sorry for the poor wording it’s late.

    • @QuonHowery02

I am 39 years old. You remind me of myself when I was in high school and college. You will look back when you’re my age and realize everything that was important to you in high school and college (I.e. grades, AP classes, SAT, extracurricular activities to make your college application look better, friends, everything you mentioned in this video) was silly and not worth your time and stress. People you care about will die, you will realize how ugly the world is, and life can be monotonous and sometimes depressing- think: working the same job for years, even if the pay is good. But life is a process, and there is nothing wrong with caring about what you care about now. You won’t really understand what I’m talking about until you experience it when you’re older. Good luck with everything

  • @jimbo5705

This is hands down the best advice I’ve heard in a while, especially the end about the college selection process being more on luck. Most of my accomplishments came from music like all state and youngarts, and my gpa was a solid 4.0 but most top schools rejected me ranging from Cornell to USC. It can be a bit disheartening, but that doesn’t mean that I wasted my time in high school. I might be a senior about to graduate currently😂but I hope people learn from this and find joy in whatever they do. It’s not about which high school or college you go to, it’s what you make of it

This is so true. For the up and coming high schoolers please do not kill yourself over AP classes if you want to get into top schools, only take a few each year and focus on a specific spike in your application to make yourself stand out. I have seen people take 20 AP classes and only get into local colleges because they had nothing specifically unique. I’m currently in 8 AP classes, a college math class, and a ton of clubs and it is genuinely not worth it.

Unfortunately I'm in a quite difficult situation as I can't go outside at all (I haven't left the house for 1 year and 1 month) I don't have the best environment to learn, to feel safe, to strive for a better academic life while it's hard to remain alive, I might not be here in the next few years but this motivated me that, if I try it will not hurt.
While you were talking about socialiazing and friends I started crying lol since I couldn't met up with them for 1 year and a half. I can't even get to the hospital but at least I have a friend who talks to me sometimes. It feels nice
