    Fantastic stuff again, Mark. Keith Scott was, to my ears, just like Mike Campbell. A super talented guitar player who only ever played exactly what was required in any given song. Always lifted the tune and never over-played.

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  4 года назад +1

      Hey man, thanks! Keith Scott ... okay, now I know, thanks again. Yes, he never overplayed that I recall. Always very tasty licks, solos, and riffs in Bryan Adams' songs. Not as gritty as Mike Campbell (probably more versatile), but I totally get the comparison and agree. They play exactly what's needed. Campbell was a master of that for sure, and so is Mr. Scott. Thanks for the kind comment and for the info too!

      Thanks Kevin! I agree. The note choice on this is very good. The outro solo, or rather the duet with the singer, also has great note choice. It's more melodic and less bluesy and fits the song equally well. Glad you liked it!

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  4 года назад

      Sounds good. You know, I was just thinking about that one. The song gets bad rap because of the production, but the solo is nice either way. And the riff is pretty cool too.

      Hi Mark, I heard that song on the radio the other day. I have not heard it for so long. I cranked it up and as soon as I got home I started trying to learn it. Of course I went right to your channel but no luck. Just think, it will give you a good reason to use your strat! Which I think you are secretly starting to like

    Some other song ideas: things that could be fun and not overly done
    -I Don't Want To Know (Fleetwood Mac) solo
    -Jungleland (Bruce Springsteen) solo
    -Every Mother's Son (Lynyrd Skynyrd) solos
    -Mr. Blue Sky (ELO) solo
    -Take It Easy (Eagles ) rhythm + solo
    -Hammer to Fall (Queen) solo
    -Star Spangled Banner (Jimi Hendrix) good 4th of July idea
    More ideas to come in the future...

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  4 года назад

      Thanks Dan! Great suggestions! More ideas are always welcome. A few comments on the ones you made.
      1. Hammer to Fall - here it is: ruclips.net/video/kAWMwbPe0Eo/видео.html
      2. Take it Easy - The Eagles are a no-no on RUclips. I could try to find a way around it by changing the licks & solo and name of the song ... and the EEglez would perform it as they usually do. Maybe "Make It Sleazy" by the EEglez.
      3. Jimi's Star Spangled Banner. Such an amazing performance. I don't think I could do it. Let me mull that one over for a little bit.
      Awesome suggestions, all of them. Thanks so much!

    Mark, I am enjoying these solos very much. You did the chorus and verse to Without You, by the Doobie Brothers. If you're getting caught up, would you please do the solo to Without You , as it has some great lines and would make a great addition to our song repertoire. Thanks Jim

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  4 года назад

      Thanks Jim! Great suggestion for the Without You Solo. Let me noodle it. Hard to do the overlays of guitars. The solo is easy, but the recording would be tricky.

      You know, this one is really for you since you said it was there only Bryan Adams song you liked. 😀 Elrondo is boycotting it though!
      Seriously, this is really the sort of solo that fits a classic power ballad. The outro duet with the singer is really nice too. More melodic and less bluesy. Some more great now choices.

      If you can't see them, here's why: The Eagles are tough on copyright. They leave some up but most they take down or ban in the USA. If I do it again, I'll need to change the riff significantly and probably change the name of the song like I did in the 1st link above. Hopefully you can see one of the above videos (though the 2nd is very old and bad!) and that will help.

    I'd love to hear and learn if possible Eric Johnson's solo in the song One to one from Carole King, I think it's really complex to play.

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  4 года назад

      I could do part of that. I wouldn't want to do the whole thing, as it would be a 2 hour lesson. It goes on for quite a while - going back and forth between octaves and those pentatonic sixes that he's so fond of playing! Sounds pretty doable though, so I'd be happy to do part of it.
      I had no idea he played with Carole King. It's too bad the song/album isn't better known.

    Mark I see u had bar chords on this .
    I'm still practicing on that,always had
    issues with bar chords with the finger

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  4 года назад +2

      Hi Phillip. I think I used power chords, which are sufficient for this song. No need for full bar on them. However, if you want to play barre chords, here are 3 things you can try to help get you there.
      1. If you use an acoustic - don't force yourself to play barre chords. Use an electric to practice barre chords.
      2. Put extra-light strings on your guitar.
      3. Get your guitar set up by a pro. Ask for "easy action".
      4. Work your stamina and strength up slowly. Try 3 string bars first, then 4, then 5, then the full 6.
      5. Watch your fretting hand. Get your fingers as close to the fret as possible so you don't need to press down hard. Generally practice your fretting technique. (Arched fingers, close to frets, etc.)
      Most important of all is to be patient. It doesn't happen immediately. Take your time, go slowly, and don't get upset at yourself. You'll get it, but it takes time!
