  • Viewers are treated to a virtual tour of Doll House: Miniature Worlds of Wonder, a new exhibition at the historic Como House in Melbourne Australia curated by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria).
    From the museum’s website:
Step inside the doll house and lose yourself in a miniature world of wonder and intrigue. Exploring the doll house from its traditional form to the space it occupies in the virtual and intangible worlds, Doll House will transport visitors into the creative and subversive world of the doll house and miniature life.
Featuring over 35 doll houses, furniture and accessories drawn from private collections, showcasing previously unseen houses from the 1880s to the present day. Together with furniture, accessories, ephemera and virtual experiences, Doll House unlocks the imagination of makers, collectors, activists and players and reveals the stories hidden in their miniature world.
    What a treat!
A BIG thank you to Dr. Annette Shiell, the Executive Manager of Collections and Cultural Projects and Tinky (AKA Liz Sonntag) a contributing artist in the show for taking us on this wonderful tour.of the exhibit

I am so impressed with the way this museum is set up that I found it extremely difficult and frustrating to watch it. The person who is doing the video (camera operator) is moving too fast and there were so many things that I noticed that were passed up, and I believe that was some of the guide’s fault. There were some of the videos that, as the miniaturist was explaining, the scene itself being explained was not even in the frame. I feel, maybe it was already done, that this museum video needs to be redone in a more respectful manner. I love the aspect of this, which is the only reading that I continued to watch, but I can’t lie when I say that my blood was boiling during some of this video due to poor filming, and a guide that appeared to be rushing through. Beautiful museum, awful video quality.

I don't know if some people don't realize how much time, work and effort this involved. I guess it is easy to criticize others, but I for one appreciate the beauty of what you presented. I don't mind imperfection, it is part of life. Unfortunately if one focuses on every little imperfection one can miss out on a great deal of beauty and joy. Thank you all for your great work in sharing your passion for miniatures

15:26 I love the side stories...the compact, the microscope. Perhaps revisit with a better plan for the camera/crew BUT I greatly appreciate the work done here by them! If I am able to visit this country, this museum will top my list!

I love seeing all those dollhouse that they're all beautiful I recently bought a dollhouse mix homemade in Amarillo Texas for $15 I don't know how old it is but I want to work on that but I'm in the process of I want to move so I haven't worked on it yet I guess I'll work on it after I move out-of-state that would be my main project cuz it's a beautiful doghouse I like how it's made but it is homemade cuz the back wall is piece of wood paneling that's just paint it but I'm going to put paper over that so you can see the little lines from the wood paneling the bottom floors are beautiful but the top ones are horrible and it opens in the front so I want to work on that once I get situated I'll work on the dollhouse the houses are beautiful you showed

Thank you for arranging and sharing this: as one of the artists involved, it made me feel much better about the possibility (probability?) that I won't be able to see the exhibition in person due to COVID restrictions...

What's with the wokey blurb she said at the beginning? So what that someone lived there in the past. SOMEONE lived everywhere at some point in the past. The sound quality and filming of this is terrible. Makes me feel sea-sick.
