Regarding John 5 where Jesus is said to have broken the Sabbath, He settles the issue in chapter 7. He refers back to the John 5 incident and justifies His actions by saying that if Moses is justified for working a part of a man on the Sabbath (circumcision), why is He guilty for working the WHOLE of a man on the Sabbath? John 7:22-23 NKJV - “Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. “If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? Thus, Jesus is as guiltless of breaking the Sabbath as Moses and they were. Additionally, the word "broken" in the Greek of John 5:18 means "to lossen." The word for violate or transgress (as in James 2:11) is not the one used. Simply put, Jesus loosened the various traditional burdens placed upon the Sabbath (like the idea you can't carry a mat on the Sabbath) by His actions, and the Pharisees hated Him for it. Edwin
The Sabbath is and was not based on Roman, Gregorian calendar so it does not specify a particular day. You are to choose a time to be specific to be with God and that day or time is holy. People have made a religion out of this.
People and NOT God have created a religion out of specifics. God has never said anywhere in the Holy Scriptures that Adventist, Methodist, Baptist etc..or one particular group will enter heaven. If you're going to include your definition of the Sabbath you might as well keep offering up a sacrifice but no argument from me, do you!
@@jcallen12003 there's a reason why sda's are called "the people of book". When prophecy sets time limitations, anyone that doesn't meet that specification, as well as other's, is necessarily false. There's so much you don't know. Can't possibly come to a knowledge of the truth.
I can now far better explain to my Sunday keeping friends the clear distinction between the old and the new covenant. Taking from this presentation as well as the first presentation regarding the ceremonial law being only able to be accessed in Jerusalem, at the temple ONLY if you were circumcised. The new covenant can thus be obtained by anyone anywhere through Christ. Simple. Logical. Wall of separation (enmity of Gen 3:15) being removed through Christ. God is so good! This is super helpful and please pray for me as I share this with many.
Remember God's Sabbath is the 7thDay/Millennium. All will keep God's Sabbath. Saved in heaven, and lost dead on this earth. Wake up SDA's. We keep 4 Sabbath's each Month to show we believe this wonderful truth.
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, *every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it and taketh hold of my covenant* {Isaiah 56:6}
John continued on “love” in 1 John 5: 1 - 3: “By this we know that we love the children of Elohiym when we love Elohyim, and guard (keep) his commandments. For this is the love of Elohiym, that we guard his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. (and also. . ) JOHN 14:15: “If ye love me, keep (guard) my commandments.”
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Whose commandments? THE LORDS!! All 10 of them !
30:33 One of the commenters stated that Jesus broke the Sabbath and that the new covenant only comes into play with His crucifixion. If breaking the 10 commandments mattered in the old covenant, since Jesus lived (obviously) in the period before His death, wouldn't that make Him a sinner? The problem with this is that He did not break the law as God gave it, but as man had tried to embellish it. In Mark chapter 2 vs.27 when the Jews tried to school Jesus as to how to keep the Sabbath, He said "the sabbath was made for MAN not man for the sabbath, therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath ". What was He inferring there? He was telling them that as the Creator of the sabbath and man, He would decide how it would be kept! Show exactly where He said it would be changed as He is the only one with the authority to make such a change.
@6:10 Pastor Ivor said the first gift given to men was the Sabbath...I get what he is trying to say, but it was the first. God had already created a whole ecosystem of the earth and a special residence in the garden of Eden for man. Before the sabbath day, God created the marriage institution and gave it dominion over all and power to fill the earth and subdue it. Finally, God gave Adam and Eve the Sabbath Day, a weekly rest in Himself. maybe the more accurate words are, the Sabbath is "one of the first gifts given to mankind"
Please check the meaning of Circumcision as it has nothing to do with the physical. It has a spiritual meaning. It’s very important to understand it’s meaning.
Very good. But there is one more thing about Sabbath: Jesus is ultimately going to get us out of this world and sin when He comes to take us home to heaven. That will be one more reason for Sabbath celebration in heaven. And a commemoration as well. Commemoration of Jesus rescuing us from sin and this world. While we are here, we are sinners, and we have problems with sin. But the time is coming when it will be all over.

Dear Pastor, while you study the Bible context is key. Again all the attributes you are ascribing to the Sabbath under the New Covenant have been reverted to Christ. These include: 1. Symbol of Creation 2.Symbol of Redemption 3. The Ultimate Rest. This is a summary of every law and commandments given in the Bible: "Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." This now brings to us the verse that you have destroyed by your gymnastics: "Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." When we come to Christ we get everything that we're ascribed to just keeping of A day.
"Just keeping a day" means you do not understand the significance of God's commandments. It is like saying Adam and Eve, "just" ate from the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. It is like saying Christ is our law and therefore we need not worry about bowing down to idols or bearing false witness. The inconsistency with which the ten commandments are treated is the greatest glaring evidence of this antinomian error.
Dear Power of the Lamb Ministry: Christians are not under the Law but under grace. I know the next question an Adventist will ask is this, " Now that Christians are not under the law, should we now steal, make images and such like". This is common objection in this circle. To an Adventist, he thinks when a Christian says He us under the law he means its okay to sin. This is because they don't under stand that a Christian is still under a covenant. The difference is that Christians are under the New Covenant not the Old. The Old Covenant has become obsolete and passed a way ( Hebrews 8:13).
In Adventism the law and the Sabbath takes a center stage while Jesus and the Gospel are sidelined to the periphery. No contextual reading but proof texting. You can only defend the Sabbath by proof texting not contextual study. Let me give you an example. In John 5, Jesus is accused by the pharisees of two things: 1. Breaking the Sabbath 2. Claiming that God is His Father. To pastor Ivor Myers, the pharisees lied on Jesus breaking the Sabbath but said the truth when they accused Jesus Claiming He is the son of God. The pharisees can't lie in one accusation and say the truth in another. It is clear Jesus broke the Sabbath. Among the rules laid down to safeguard keeping of the sabbath included not carrying luggages into the gates of Jerusalem on Sabbath days. It is one of the reasons the Israelites were taken to captivity. This rule was given by God Himself as one of the ways of keeping the Sabbath: "This is what the Lord said to me: “Go and stand at the Gate of the People,[c] through which the kings of Judah go in and out; stand also at all the other gates of Jerusalem. 20 Say to them, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, you kings of Judah and all people of Judah and everyone living in Jerusalem who come through these gates. 21 This is what the Lord says: Be careful not to carry a load on the Sabbath day or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem. 22 Do not bring a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your ancestors. 23 Yet they did not listen or pay attention; they were stiff-necked and would not listen or respond to discipline. 24 But if you are careful to obey me, declares the Lord, and bring no load through the gates of this city on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy by not doing any work on it, 25 then kings who sit on David’s throne will come through the gates of this city with their officials. They and their officials will come riding in chariots and on horses, accompanied by the men of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, and this city will be inhabited forever. 26 People will come from the towns of Judah and the villages around Jerusalem, from the territory of Benjamin and the western foothills, from the hill country and the Negev, bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and incense, and bringing thank offerings to the house of the Lord. 27 But if you do not obey me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying any load as you come through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle an unquenchable fire in the gates of Jerusalem that will consume her fortresses.’”Jeremiah 17:21-27. So according to the rules on keeping the Sabbath it is clear Jesus broke the Sabbath by breaking the rule against bearing burdens on the Sabbath day. In the New Testament we find Jesus fulfilling all the shadows in the Old testament. To an Adventist, Sabbath is not a shadow, but they will go about telling you that Sabbath is a day of rest but will not understand that Jesus is the Ultimate Rest. No wonder Paul said that Let no one judge you according to the day you keep. This is simply because Christ is the ultimate substance for every particular command or law in the Old testament.
In the Old Testament we find Rest in keeping a day while in the New the rest is found in Jesus. Jesus tell us to come to Him, while in the Old, the Jews are told to keep a day off. We can't have rest in two ways, either in Jesus or a day.
Biblical context is simply irrelevant to Adventists. The only context they seem to care about and argue to maintain is statements that Ellen White made. They are quick to bellow, “Context, context, context!” when they presume that one is misinterpreting Ellen White (which is almost never the case), but they will never bellow the same for biblical texts or passages. They themselves have no regard for biblical context, therefore they would never advocate in favor of it. Let me illustrate this. Mark 2:27 says, “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath,” for Adventists this means that the Sabbath is binding on all humanity.89 But contextually, this statement is referring to the Jewish disciples to whom the Sabbath was “made for” and not for Gentiles nor all of humanity. Additionally, the statement is a defense offered by Jesus to justify His disciples’ breaking the Sabbath to satisfy their need. It puts the Sabbath under Jesus’ and the disciple’s authority to dispense with it as they saw fit. But Adventists ignore the context and flip this statement to actually subject all “man” under the Sabbath and make it universal, mandatory, and salvational.
Nowhere in genesis did it say Adam and Eve kept the Sabbath. The Sabbath was not mentioned until Exodus. God rested on the “seventh day” because he was done with His work and that made it holy. The Sabbath is a type of that rest He gave to the Israelites because they needed it. It was introduced to the Israelites Ex 16 and in Ex 20 they were given the commandments. The Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between God and Israel (Ex 31:12-17). The disciples kept the sabbath because they were Jewish, which was customary for them. I agree, Sunday is not the new Sabbath. Jesus’ blood is the sign of the new covenant (1 Cor 11: 25) and we are sealed by the Holy Spirit not the Sabbath (Eph 4:30). For those who are genuinely wanting to find out about what God is saying to us the Sabbath, read the Word in sequence and do not skip Hebrews or Galatians. I pray we all will be led by truth and that the Holy Spirit will equip us to share the good news of the gospel with those who need to hear it.
The sabbath in genesis and the sabbath in exodus are referring to the same thing correct? The Bible says the sabbath was MADE for man. When was the sabbath MADE? Not so called "presented" but MADE? It was MADE at creation, for man. Just because it is not specifically mentioned doesn't mean Adam and Eve didn't keep it. Just as we can say the sanctuary and the sacrificial system wasn't "presented" until exodus and. BUT, we see Abel making a blood sacrifice in genesis. They must have known these laws before exodus even tho it's not specifically mentioned. Just as Joseph said adultery was sin in genesis 39 before the law was supposedly "presented" in exodus... God has always been the same God and always will be. His laws have always been valid
"Nowhere in Genesis does it say that Adam and Eve kept the Sabbath." "in Genesis" this is the problem of the critics, they stay "in Genesis." But Jesus briefly comments on the creation account to justify the act of doing good on the Sabbath by saying "the Sabbath was made FOR MAN" (Mark 2:27). The Bible says that "ALL scripture is good... for DOCTRINE" (2 Tim. 3:16). So, Mark 2:27 is a relevant and a divine commentary on the creation account, and it proves it was given to man... Adam and Eve. Unless you believe they told God "no thanks," they kept it.
The first week of creation was all about God, and resting on the seventh day, and sanctifying the seventh day. Adam and Eve hadn't worked six as yet. The work of creation is all about our Creator.
When God gave the Sabbath to Adam as a gift, all of humanity was in the loins of Adam, therefore the Sabbath was given to all of humanity. Just as Levi paid tithe to Melchizedec even while they were yet in the loins of Abraham.
The problem is that anyone who doesn't want to keep the 4th Commandment will find any and every excuse to not do it, no matter what. It's no different than speaking to someone who is completely sold on atheism. No amount of evidence is good enough for a stiff-necked Athiest. Yet to be a person who keeps Sabbath because Jesus did it and it is in the Ten Commandments will not save you, as all have signed and have come short of God's law. The only reason to keep the Sabbath is that I love Jesus, God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus, who wrote the Ten-Comandments said "Remember" at the start of #4.
Amazing Study Pastor, much Respect
Thanks pastor for the clarity on the dogs 👏
Anonymous - "When a law is once enacted by proper authority, it must remain in force till the same authority repeals it; and the repeal must be as plainly stated as the original enactment."
Did not Jesus clearly speak on this in the NT concerning the Sabbath?
@@jcallen12003Which one in NT?

Amen ! Gods word is powerful !
Preach it Pastor Ivor !!!
My wish is that this study is professionally rerecorded and posted as a response to Allan Parr. Audio and visuals are poor but this is one of THEE best presentations on this subject I've ever seen. May God continue to bless your ministry.
I am planning to redo this. The recording equipment went haywire. 😡
Amen brother im with you 🙏🏽
Awesome brother. Thank you Jesus Christ.

The sabbath was made for the whole world so they could rest on the 7th day because God blessed the 7th day Amen to that
The Sabbath is and was not based on Roman, Gregorian calendar so it does not specify a particular day. You are to choose a time to be specific to be with God and that day or time is holy. People have made a religion out of this.
@@jcallen12003 the 7th day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. That seems pretty specific to me
People and NOT God have created a religion out of specifics.
@@jcallen12003 let's see. Only those with the seal of God will enter heaven. That seems like a particular group to me.

The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; *he will magnify the law* and make it honourable.
{Isaiah 42:21}
🤯🤯🤯, Wow.
Rest in Him means rest spiritually
Please check the meaning of Circumcision as it has nothing to do with the physical. It has a spiritual meaning. It’s very important to understand it’s meaning.

‘What would Jesus do?’
KEEP THE SABBATH.
Didnt Jesus say he is lord of the sabbath
Is there anything i should do on the Sabbath
Fellowship, study, pray, be a blessing to others. See Isaiah 58.
The book of Mathew through Revelations is the New Testament

The seal of God is the holy spirit not the Sabbath do not deceive the believers if you are praying on the sabbath no one is saying that you are wrong but who are you to judge others believer who choose their day to give adoration to their Lord and since Jesus Christ himself know the future he should have warn Paul and his appostle of sabbath violation in the future but he never said anything unless you are saying that Jesus Christ didn't know the future and since Jesus Christ himself said quote he will not lose a single one of all who have believe in him and since he knows the future he should have warning all his appostle .

no. the carrying of bed on sabbath is not in the bible
"This is what the Lord said to me: “Go and stand at the Gate of the People,[c] through which the kings of Judah go in and out; stand also at all the other gates of Jerusalem.
Yes, it is in the Bible.
Dear Pastor, while you study the Bible context is key.
Again all the attributes you are ascribing to the Sabbath under the New Covenant have been reverted to Christ. These include:
1. Symbol of Creation
2.Symbol of Redemption
3. The Ultimate Rest.
This is a summary of every law and commandments given in the Bible:
"Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."
This now brings to us the verse that you have destroyed by your gymnastics:
"Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
When we come to Christ we get everything that we're ascribed to just keeping of A day.
Dear Power of the Lamb Ministry:
Christians are not under the Law but under grace.
In John 5, Jesus is accused by the pharisees of two things:
1. Breaking the Sabbath
This rule was given by God Himself as one of the ways of keeping the Sabbath:
"This is what the Lord said to me: “Go and stand at the Gate of the People,[c] through which the kings of Judah go in and out; stand also at all the other gates of Jerusalem.
The only context
they seem to care about and argue to maintain is statements that Ellen
White made. They are quick to bellow, “Context, context, context!” when
they presume that one is misinterpreting Ellen White (which is almost
never the case), but they will never bellow the same for biblical texts or
passages. They themselves have no regard for biblical context, therefore
they would never advocate in favor of it. Let me illustrate this. Mark 2:27
says, “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath,” for
Adventists this means that the Sabbath is binding on all humanity.89 But
contextually, this statement is referring to the Jewish disciples to whom
the Sabbath was “made for” and not for Gentiles nor all of humanity.
Additionally, the statement is a defense offered by Jesus to justify His
disciples’ breaking the Sabbath to satisfy their need. It puts the Sabbath
under Jesus’ and the disciple’s authority to dispense with it as they saw
fit. But Adventists ignore the context and flip this statement to actually
subject all “man” under the Sabbath and make it universal, mandatory,
and salvational.
Amen💯🙏🏽❤️✔️
"Nowhere in Genesis does it say that Adam and Eve kept the Sabbath."
"in Genesis" this is the problem of the critics, they stay "in Genesis." But Jesus briefly comments on the creation account to justify the act of doing good on the Sabbath by saying "the Sabbath was made FOR MAN" (Mark 2:27).
@@alfashion the first sabbath was the example for Adam and Eve.

When God gave the Sabbath to Adam as a gift, all of humanity was in the loins of Adam, therefore the Sabbath was given to all of humanity. Just as Levi paid tithe to Melchizedec even while they were yet in the loins of Abraham.
