This is something that really annoys me in the UK, we seem to have a really divided angling community. I've been fishing since I was 6-7 years old, and the response to younger anglers has always been "that's fantastic!" Or "bloody young ones" I understand the water memberships and the benefit they can have, but too many of them have become old boys clubs, reluctant to invite new members or share. Several up in the north of england I've applied for, only to receive my memberships months later, a few days before their year ends, basically just taking my money. It's so great to see new and young anglers, but you can see why a lot of people get put off by events such as yours. Too many people set in their ways, with old fashioned views of fishing. Unwilling to educate, share or help. It's what makes your channel and others like it so important, it's an inviting and fresh view to angling, and portrays the sport in such a good light.

My club are always quick to blame youngsters for poor fish care. I've seen this type of thing from all ages, not just youngsters. Clubs should perhaps offer guidance and tutelage to the younger members and educate them in the ways of the club, rather than just complaining when they don't get things right.

Intelligent enough to ignore, deflect and de-escalate but also perfectly capable of dealing with any physical aggression.. because of my bullies I found a love of martial arts, had a successful career as a prison officer (dealing with the worst bullies of all) and pushed myself beyond my own fears, bullies suck but now (25yrs later) I look back and thank the ones I used to fear, they helped make me me... It’s hard to believe that there are people in the world who for whatever reason, choose to bully and cause grief for no apparent reason. I’m so happy to see that you both showed restraint and maturity through what I’m sure would have been a pretty distressful time. From being turned away, to years later being granted permission to fish the reservoir. You showed what it is to be proper anglers. To never give up. To push though the seemingly endless hard times. To go on though, and hone in on your swim of choice, and catch your trophy...That right there is the cherry on top.
Well done to you both, for being persistent, for showing integrity, for being true anglers, but above all, for being decent honest lads! All the best, Chris

The problem with society today is the fact that people cannot stand to see others being successful...Nobody likes to be beaten and especially by someone much younger...At the end of the day records set by others are meant to be broken or there would be no point setting a record in the first place...To go making threats towards someone much younger all because they broke your record is just sad and pathetic...I am glad you knocked him down a peg or two and continued on your journey despite his threats and poor misconduct...You guys are amazing to watch and this video was inspiring to watch...I wish you all the success life has to offer...I was around 17 years old when I first started fishing and gave it up because of having a family to support wife and kids so just didn't have the time for fishing...I just started getting back to fishing again what 25 years later and already just by watching you guys on you tube has sparked my passion for fishing again...Fishing is meant to be a hobby for having fun a time to get out there and relax and enjoy the art of the catch...But when people start taking it to the next level and start treating it like they are the king of the bank and nobody should take away what they have achieved it spoils it for everyone else then...I hope those individuals who made it hard for you by making false allegations get banned from every fishing venue there is...Carl and Alex are the dynamic duo because there fishing knowledge is just Dynamite and there vlog content is just explosive.

A truly hard man wouldn’t ever dream of sitting behind a keyboard threatening an abusing . C. You should never ever ever shy away from what you doing as the reaction you are getting means you doing something right. Real hard fighting men don’t I repeat DONT bully kids. I don't usually comment on videos but feel it is important to say the pair of you are an inspiration to others. With your determination and dedication and not letting the weak and hurtful people interfere with what you enjoy the most is a credit to you both. If these people put as much time into concentrating on their fishing one day they may achieve what you have. Only jealous hurt people try to hurt people, standing with your heads held high with nothing to be ashamed of has paid off.

I’ve started a campaign to just catch a carp from my local pond. I know they’re in there, I saw people catch 25lb+ commons on the method feeder + hair rig boilies. Every morning when I walk my dog there I pre bait a spot with some corn and fish there about twice a week, still yet to get a bite from a carp. Only roach and bream.
