Great vid really enjoying your content. Not sure you need to strike so hard, but hat just shows why we need to pay attention. No bleeps and that fish had been on quite a while. Cagey old buggers aren’t they. Well done 👍🏻
@jamesscott9922 Thanks James, glad you liked it. Yes i had no idea what was going on with that take, they are buggers when the water is cold, no screamers like in the summer, pivoting on the backleads and ending up 10 miles away. I had a lot of mono line to gain before i could feel any connection to the fish, hence the shark fishing strike and furious reel winding. Thanks for your observation 👍🏻
Hi Matt, was nice talking to you, i actually blanked in the end, not surprising given the colour and level of the water. Thanks for subscribing 👍🏻 see you soon
Well done, lovely carp and on the 1st of January in day light?! I've had similar thjngs happen when using backleads... the carp can travel quite a distance before you realise!!
@@sifishes Thanks Si, yeah mate especially now the waters colder, I had a look yesterday and it has an ice lid 🥶 so I might hit the rivers this week. Keep an 👁️ out for the next episode 👍🏻
@johnnybegood9560 Some would say it’s gone downhill since the KHV and some big ones died, but it still holds plenty of up and coming healthy fish to go at.
@@Uk_carp_diaries yes still going strong, plus with the baby still in there it's a mega place still, I really wanted that one but had to drop ticket due to distance and life , that baby is fish of a lifetime 👍
@ Pretty sure i lost the baby brown back in spring up the shallows. Funnily enough a woman landed it from the same swim back in October whilst i was there. Maybe this year 🤞🏻
@@PrettyGreenMonk Yes it is on the silver ticket, but days only. You can even fish it as a non member and pay the day ticket price when the bailiff comes around.
I don’t normally strike like that, unless i am Shark fishing. If you can imagine i had a big V of mono line out from the rod tip, the point of that V being the backlead. The fish was 50 yards right by the time i knew what was going on. The hard strike was purely to gain some line and connect with the fish, as you can see it was followed by furious winding of the reel until i could feel said fish on. Hope this makes sense 👍🏻
@@michaelmurphy4758 Yes yes i just walked into a carp store and came back out with all the gear and no idea 🤷🏻♂️ When in reality, i grew up on a trout farm and was fishing for all species from the age of 5. I caught my first 20lb carp at 11 years old, also I lived in Africa catching baby hammerheads off the shore and barracuda from the creek. I don’t know if you realised this but this is a CARP FISHING CHANNEL

@@Uk_carp_diaries Conditions weren't the best...next time!
nice fish. That's the reason I don't use backwards as the fish can kite on the pivot point with not much indication.
@@stephenfeaver7622 yeah mate your”e 💯 right on that one, especially when fishing sideways as opposed to straight out from the rod tip 👍🏻
