Post-construction rope access high-rise window cleaning with rigging

  • I haven't made a video for a while because most buildings are basically the same thing but this post-construction cleaning is a bit different. I don't use a metal scraper at all or any chemicals on these windows. Just 0000 steel wool and a small plastic scraper. I come across so many windows on buildings that have been scratched like crazy by the window cleaner when they did the construction cleaning because they use a metal scraper on tempered glass. Doing it this way is physically harder and takes more time but the windows end up perfect without a single scratch.

    Using a doodle bug handle with bronze wool pad on it might be quicker than steel wool next time

    Did a vinyl decal job on a 30 story new construction last week, window installers could care less about what the windows look like after install lol. Also just noticed the ASAP lanyard, why not use the Sorber Axess?

    I've never seen anyone clean glass as thoroughly as you do. However, it is still questionable whether the entire building line can be wiped down with just a few towels. This is not your story, this is a question for all rope workers.In my opinion, instead of cleaning it by continuously using detergent and dirty water, you are contaminating the entire window frame.

    Maybe the construction workers should do a better job of working around the windows instead of getting everything on the windows!!!! Lol how do U get a hand prints 15 20 storys up honestly lol. definitely a lot more work doing it that way what your doing!. yes we have to do the same as you with this building without a scraper and honestly if they didn’t have blobs of concrete like baseball size and tube of caulking all over the window, then they get what they get can’t complain when it’s ten times better then when we showed up lol 😂 construction worker should care about where they get there shit all over the place!!!!!!!

      @BrodyYYC  4 года назад +3

      Ya the installers don't really care about getting crap all over. 0000 steel wool won't make any visible scratches if you're not taking off a bunch of concrete. Luckily its mostly paint, caulking, silicone and some red and blue plastic type stuff on this building. But ya if you're removing concrete splatter on soft tempered windows it will scratch because the concrete will get trapped between the pad and window. Have to always be careful on construction cleans. It's just annoying when you come across windows from people who obviously didn't care.

      @AadamSaleem0 2 года назад

      Window Cleaners Get Paid By the hour and then they have to subtract some of their earnings so rufflay you get paid 1-200 dollars per hour and then they subtract 40% of for tax so once they do that the pay normally comes to 150 to 160 i know this becaucse i am window cleaner aswell

    What's your rope protector made of?
    The edges are soft and heavier guys dent them easier. Where I'm from

    • @BrodyYYC
      @BrodyYYC  3 года назад +3

      Ya that's exactly why I'm using this rope protector on this parapet. I've also seen so many destroyed edges over the years. Even the building I'm on right now I don't need to guess where the drops are because you just need to look for the dents haha. This one is just custom made because there doesn't seem to be any good products made to deal with the dents.

    Can I ask what is the name of the seat harness you use to be comfortable all day like this?

    • @blackbird1234100
      @blackbird1234100 Год назад +1

      Im not sure the window industry term.....but the general term would be "suspension harness" as opposed to a "safety harness." The main difference, a safety harness is intended to catch your fall and allow you to ascend back to your work position. Eventually, a safety harness will cut off bloodflow to the limbs. A suspension harness is designed to continuously support your body weight. It has wider and more padded supports to avoid cutting off blood flow.
      For a general idea, look up "arborist saddle" its what the tree guys use to stay comfortably suspended.

    On that setup on that corner plate was that knot a monkeys paw???
    1st edit: why are you tying you’re main and secondary together in one knot 🤔
    2nd edit: my mind is blown with the why would you put a knot after your main knot at the tie off anchor instead of dog tying from that “secondary knot” for the redirect For people that don’t know about our world it looks cool and awesome but for someone that has an idea the setup in this video is very dangerous I hope you still don’t tie back like this 😬

    • @BrodyYYC
      @BrodyYYC  3 года назад

      Sorry I've literally never heard of dog tying. But either way I mean look at the angle. I was pretty much tying that redirect as a joke for the video. Do you think I needed at at all let alone with a double carabiner?

    • @runclimbplay
      @runclimbplay 3 года назад +1

      Never heard of dog tying; but I was also wondering about knotting them together, and yes, the additional redirect is unnecessary and actually will weaken your overall rope strength there more knots you put in. The double carabiner is also a little overkill lol. I'd have simply tied each rope to an individual anchor and let them go through your redirect. Easy peasy. Good work though

    • @BrodyYYC
      @BrodyYYC  4 года назад +2

      @@thebusinessfinder2543 I've never taken IRATA or SPRAT. I worked as a window cleaner for years before I started doing rope-access and then I got on with a high-rise company and started learning from them since they all were certified. I don't need either course to just do windows in the city here so there's no point in me going for level 1 right now since I won't learn anything new and it will expire. This is sort of like any trade, just find somebody to mentor you.
