Starlet O'Hara, have you ever gone to sleep at night and had dreams about Johnny, like I did? There's a skit with him and "Ginger" where he suggested spending the day hugging and kissing in his car, but she rejected the idea. I thought to myself: "How can she be so stupid? I wouldn't mind Johnny hugging and kissing me!"

In the 1970's, this was a great show we watched! It was before DVR, or recorders, VCR's! So in my early 70's, I had 3 channels that only one lasted into the AM!
I worked 5:PM till 1:30 AM in the morning in the early 70's! So I spent my late and mid 70's into watching the Milkmans Mantenee that came on channel 8 (I believe) between 1 to 3 Am in the morning when we had only three chanels!
Well, I saw the last 45 minutes of channel 8 movies until 3 :AM in those days as I tried to heat up my dinner! Then later, we had the Microvave oven into the late 70's and early 80's!

I think that if those same people only HEARD SNN sing, without seeing the silly costumes, they would have felt very differently. And you're right, the way they did it made it very entertaining and fun. BTW, when I saw Johnny in Philly Sunday night, one of his other fans got to sing this song with him. How cool is that?

It's cool, and the "silly costumes" were just part of the act.

There have been a cou0ple of groups over the years- The Monkeys, Sha Na Na, Riders in the Sky- the comedy over-shadowed their music. If you manage to set that aside, then you find out that their music was actually pretty good.

Starlet O'Hara, I was born in 1967. I'm 16 years younger than Johnny. I enjoyed all the members of the group, and my father took me to one of their concerts. I loved it! When Johnny's official website expired, I let him know about it, and he told me to go to his Facebook website. I thanked him and I told him I always enjoyed his work. His response: "Thanks, Doll. Stay safe." My cheeks turned bright red! I couldn't believe he said that!

I DEFINITELY! remember this skit when I watch this show on late-night NBC c.1980.
"They don't make 'em like they used to" really sums it up here, I think ... some people think that SNN is one of the worst bands of all time, but we can't be serious all the time, can we?

How did the 'comments on this video' disintegrate into a political forum?
On track, the song is sensational, the version that Sha Na Na did is well done (none has beat the original that I know of) and I must admit that I was a little surprised at how well they did this one.
