I am German born but Dansk in origin, I admit that the information of this lady is totally a lies, there's no place which is most naturally beautiful in this planet like Zanzibar, peace, honest and generous people, variety of food cuisines, good Internet connection, beautiful ocean scenery, I recommend if you want to satisfy your heart you have to visit in Zanzibar
No confrontation but you totally missed her point! Zanzibar is certainly one of the most beautiful and amazing places on earth, she says that, for a tourist this is paradise and she says that too, I have been many times and I love it. She is talking about the complexities of living on the islands as a foreigner, the challenges for a new resident not a tourist, she warns about blindly falling for the charm and beauty without due diligence before packing your bags on your way to a life in paradise and I see nothing wrong with this message. What you write in your comment is not not what she said, I bet you did not watch her video, it is as if you read the tittle and wrote your comment and if you did, I need a cold beer. The only thing in your list that she said was the "internet connection", yes she did say the internet connection was bad and as such terrible for digital nomads, I have only visited as a tourist and haven't stayed long enough to comment on the long term stability and availability, I wonder how long you stayed to come to your conclusion.
@@menalikechildren8836 i was talking about living on the island not visiting. I believe you are not really smart enough and probably seek validation and praise from Zanzibaris. What a 🤡
I went to Zanzibar two years ago and stayed at a hotel owned by an Egyptian man. During COVID-19, he came with 40k in his pocket and rented a small hotel from someone on a ten-year lease. It took him 2 years to get it up and running. I stayed there for 10 days, in that time I slaughtered 3 cows for the village and instantly was connected with all the locals. Of course I am Muslim as well, European looking that didn't matter. Many hotels there don't care about the local villages and its people, if you go, bless those villages and build a good relationship. The egyptian hotel owner did this, and he was taken care of by the locals.
You were colonized by Western/European culture, and are still mentally imprisoned by Western Culture, so let's no act like you are somehow better than blacks in the USA, Caribbean and Brazil. What you are expressing is actually the ploy of your European colonizers that keeps you in mental chains....how they make one tribe feel superior to another. Look at Congo from where you are from, that place is in so much chaos, tribe against tribe, in wars that will never end, you should start your criticisms there. Oh wait!!! I'm an American, I'm supposed to be ignorant of world affairs and ignorant of the divisiveness of what Africans in Congo and other places in Africa are doing to each other, thanks to ongoing "Psychological Colonialism", right? Not impressed by your comment.
@@dxwallace55 where did they say any of this? You are showing yourself all by yourself. They simply mean they are used to Africa so they can settle in Zanzibar easily. It’s literally the people from the West complaining in these comments and it’s because they rely on things like WIFI. You read WAY too much into that comment. Focus on what was actually written not on what you think was written and you will save yourself a lot of unnecessary stress.

There is no country in Africa that will miss the challenges of growth in development, especially if you consider that Zanzibar is two small islands, which has its main mother which is Tanzania. I'm from Tanzania mainland, Zanzibar is a peacefull and beautiful place for vacation or for retirement people, who come from Western country. But if you want to start a business here with a small capital or making a living here as young guy, you must think twice before you move on.She is right, most of people confuse vacation and living here with reality.

@JC-ty3zq spot on! The video was designed with malicious intent purely from her personal experiences yet wanting to influence the masses. Her tirade had no basis! No fast internet?? Thousands have moved to Zanzibar over the years and managed to get by with the slow speed of internet available. Yes, it may be something to notify the authorities to work on however a point to discourage people from moving to Zanzibar?!. Another thing is she moved to NBO, quite a different place offering a different lifestyle from people looking to get in Zanzibar. It's not like she opted for Maldives or the Seychelles instead.

Yes she's just doing it to underate Zanzibar But I will remain defending Zanzibar But I respectfully disagree with the notion that Kenya surpasses Zanzibar in terms of tourism appeal. Each destination has its unique strengths, but Zanzibar stands out as a globally renowned paradise, celebrated for its unparalleled blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and historical significance. Zanzibar is much more than a beach destination-it's a living heritage. The Spice Islands offer pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and world-class diving spots alongside the rich history of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors experience not only the beauty of the islands but also the warmth of Zanzibari culture, the unique Swahili cuisine, and the mesmerizing traditions of the local communities. Moreover, Zanzibar now boasts its own international airport, enabling direct access for tourists from around the globe. This development solidifies Zanzibar’s independence in the tourism sector, allowing it to compete on the global stage without reliance on other countries' infrastructure. While Kenya undoubtedly offers iconic safaris and breathtaking landscapes, Zanzibar's allure lies in its harmonious fusion of natural and cultural treasures. It’s not a matter of one being better than the other-it’s about recognizing Zanzibar’s uniqueness as a destination that combines luxury, relaxation, and history in one package. Instead of comparisons, let us celebrate the diversity of experiences East Africa offers to the world. Together, we contribute to the growth of African tourism, showcasing our rich continent’s potential to travelers everywhere.

I am Zanzibari, and yes, your analysis of the challenges in Zanzibar is quite telling. Frequent outages were one of the annoying things I encountered in Paje while living there for 2 weeks before January. Internet was comparatively slow but was never an issue as it depended on the place I was visiting. Overall, the island is truly magnificent for holidaying, and it's a must-visit. I wish the government did better for its people and tourist appeal, not just sitting with their bellies doing little for decades or so.
I would love to see you show how perfect your country is. Zanzibaris never claimed that Unguja and Pemba are perfect paradise. We have issues like any other countries in Africa and beyond. Those issues need to be addressed of course but be fair.

Just a gentle reminder: 3:10 Canada is not a European country but was a British colony for decades before self-governing. The influx of cultures from Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia has shaped our multicultural society for the last 400 years. However, we must not overlook the history of the First Nations, who have sovereignty over the land for over 15,000 years. Although Canada achieved independence in 1982, ending colonial subordination, it does not make Canada a European nation. Canada ceased being a colony and no longer takes orders from the British government. As a Kenyan-Canadian, I feel compelled to highlight this, especially since many in Africa might hold a Eurocentric view. Loved your informative video btw. 🖤🖤

You didn’t say anything about how peaceful the island is and how humble her people are. No violence no war. Not like Kenya of course. If Zanzibar is one among the peaceful place on earth… other things like Wi-Fi and poor economy can be solved. But without peace (like in Kenya)……
Thank you for doing this. Moving to another country is like a man starting a romantic relationship with a woman and a woman starting a romantic relationship with a man. You have to check out the other person real good to make sure that he or she is the right person for you or you will end up with relationship remorse after awhile. There are a lot of people out on RUclips talking about moving to this African country and that African country however their talk is extremely biased for they only talk about the good part and how it has benefited them and they never talk about the bad part which makes you wonder if they are being paid by someone to do promotion all of which misleads people. There should be an honest review that presents both sides so that a person can make the right decision that best suits them. Please continue making videos like this so we can have an honest view of both sides of the fence.

Thank you for the mixed match message, I was born in Zanzibar I live abroad now but I would recommend people to stay for at least few weeks to experience themselves. Yes the power cut can be a frequent issue which is annoying for many but the advantages of the islands are more than just few negativities. Fine, but just don't come back. They might have denied your renewal. You can't go there and work online, get paid in another country, you don't pay taxes on your earnings in Zanzibar, taking advantage of the exchange rate for life will be very, very cheap, and expect things will be okay. Zanzibar is a holiday destination that will remain like that for many years.
Zanzibar is at the stage of changing its economy like other Indian Ocean islands to benefit most of its citizens. For more than 24 years, we have been associated with many countries in Africa, we have chosen Zanzibar as a place to invest and the best tourist destination. There is a future in Zanzibar and Tanzania. Stability, Safety & Security is a great priority for the long run both in normal life or business, which South Africa & Kenya do not have at all or seen to improve. Tanzania is not investor friendly hata mkipaka rangi. Kenyans and South Aficans hire Agricultural land for farming in Uganda and I bet you have never heard complaints
@longatsos One of the policies that Tanzania has is to generate local investors. Starting with land ownership policies that the local stands with as capital. This space gives locals the opportunity to collaborate or compete with foreign investors. In Kenya and South Africa, the poor remain poor, and the rich remain rich.

Stop, stop! I am Scandinavian in Kenya. Kenya is considered one of the more developed countries on the continent. However, Kenyan has many issue at the moment. For some years, in fact. High youth unemployment. Millions of young people,e with degrees and no work. And they all try their luck at content creation. High living costs. Much higher than Tanzania. Unstable electricity supply (long story) And in many areas the Wi-Fi is on and off and on and off. Areas in affluent Nairobi with many politicians have, of course, better internet connection. While the coast is in a frustrating state. And …. healthcare and the education is in a tital mess. So hold your horses for some time about Kenya.
4:54 first thing to improve is the electricity. No matter what internet company will enter to the game, if you have no electricity you will not have WiFi. And the electricity situation is getting worst year to year. Now, I write it in December 2024, on the east of the island, ZECO switches off electricity every evening for couple of hours and multiple times during the day. Hence, if you work online you cannot do your job pretty much. Also, with the low voltage available (it’s usually below 130V) if you have no stabilizer, none of your electronic device will work. 10:12 there is no way of integrating with local people. The roadblock here is, they see every muzungu as potential opportunity and walking ATM. There is no way to integrate and blend in because soon or later locals will stab you in the back.
@@bardzozimno about the electricity I agree with you. About the integration with the locals, not at all. Myself and people that I know, built strong relationships with local. Of course there are bad people everywhere, but if you come with a win-win mindset, then they will respect you. Do you speak Swahili?
@ yes, I do. From your video I understand you worked online on Znz, hence you don’t really have an experience how is it when you employ locals and what you can expect/ not to expect from them as your workers.
@@bardzozimno I have multiple streams of income, one involves employing people in Zanzibar. They do an amazing job even during my absence, of course there are challenges but respectful communication is the key here. And the last thing I would do is to generalize and claim all locals want to take advantageous of you just because I had some bad experience. Plus if there is no way for you to blend in I ask myself what you’re still doing in Zanzibar. 🤔
@ i never said I’m still here … and yes, the last thing I would do is to generalize. One cannot say that people here are amazing and as soon as you will wear modest clothes, learn the language, you will blend in and will never experience any dishonesty and let’s face the truth - racism. It’s fair to acknowledge everyone’s experience and don’t build false expectations. I’m assuming that within your audience there can be muzungu who already live here, planning to live here or just to go on a holiday, honeymoon, etc. Wearing a modest dress or even speaking Swahili will not save you from anything, and I talk here also about small situations like buying a SIM card, which costs 2,500 tzs (1 $) and here they even try to sell it for 40$, bajaji from One village to another typically is 0,5 $ and they ask for even 10$. And yes, these two examples happened to the tourists but still, in my personal opinion it is a robbery because they are taking advantage of someone’s unawareness. And it goes the same even if you are a muzungu resident because you live in certain area and you know certain community but as soon as you travel to different village they already think you are a tourist. Or another example, when your neighbors come to burn their trash right in front of your gate, and no matter how many times you tell them it is dangerous they will do it anyway, or neighbors to which you give food from your restaurant will come in the night to steal water from your tank. This is just a mindset … to take advantage from muzungu.
Our sister from Kenya just keep yourself in Kenya. As a Kenyan no one expects you to say anything good about Tanzania. FYI Zanzibar is not begging for people to move there. Just go straight to your point of promoting Kenya, period.

Peace and political stability in Zanzibar is one of the most important factor that attract tourists. If you are objective you could have discuss about political instability in Kenya and the rate of crime in Nairobi compared to Zanzibar. I hate going to Nairobi because the place is not peaceful. The crime rate is very high in Nairobi as compared to Zanzibar. In recent years there were a number of terrorism cases reported in Kenya. That alone disqualify Kenya to be the best tourist destination. Keep your house clean before you criticise Zanzibar

@@Summertm To understand Somalia’s current instability, it’s important to look at the larger geopolitical picture, especially in Africa and the Middle East. Somalia is unlikely to find lasting stability in the coming decades as long as NATO continues to exist. NATO has played a key role in destabilizing three African countries-Somalia, Libya, and Sudan-and four in the Middle East: Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and potentially Iran. In Somalia, terrorist groups are a major issue. Many of these fighters are not Somali but come from other countries, adding to the chaos. The African Union peacekeeping force, known as AMISOM, is also accused of worsening the situation by allegedly supplying weapons to these groups instead of promoting peace. Somalia is rich in natural resources, including oil and a strategic coastline-the longest in Africa-which has made it a target for external interference. Recent disputes with Kenya over maritime boundaries further highlight the country’s economic potential and geopolitical importance. The current unrest in Somalia is part of a long history of conflict with Christian and Western powers, including Ethiopia. Historically, much of Ethiopia and Kenya was part of Somalia. Despite this, Somalis are united by shared clans, culture, and language, which makes the country unique compared to its neighbors. In the 1970s and 80s, Somalia was one of Africa’s most powerful nations, and many believe it has the potential to regain that status if left to resolve its issues without foreign interference. Unlike some neighboring countries, Somalia has maintained its cultural identity and language, refusing to conform to Western influences. This cultural resilience is a source of pride for many Somalis, who see it as key to their eventual recovery.
@@malikkb6444 There’s nothing significant about Tanzania. It’s a puppet of the Western world, a country without its own true language. Their common or official language is English-a colonial language forced on them by the West. I’ll have a proper conversation with you when you understand things from my perspective, okay? The only reason your country has peace is because you bow down to the colonial powers and do what they say. We refuse to do that.

This is true for you guys from western culture. Me from Congo, I can settle without problem in Zanzibar

But I respectfully disagree with the notion that Kenya surpasses Zanzibar in terms of tourism appeal.

Unstable electricity supply (long story)
And in many areas the Wi-Fi is on and off and on and off.

Hey Weyni, what do u suggest for someone who is interested to start a business in Zanzibar, from Ethiopia ?
There is no international school in zanzibar charging 7000 usd per month, but since she is in kenya i am not suprised
Alright look Habesha Lady, Zanzibar is paradise but like any government, the Tanzanian one ain't easy to deal with . All and everyone welcome to Zanzibar. It truly is breathtaking beach fantacies. And incidentally I have never seen more 🇮🇹's out of Rome . None of them spoke English, #NONE , no idea what they were doing there .
Italians seem to like Zanzibar and the coast of Kenya
@@AbdulJabbar-hc2wd so are there any African tourist because this channel is for African planing to come back to Africa, live and invest. I'm not sure why you brought up Italians but appears to be true this is more of a vacation city than anything else.
I'll keep it a buck with you, you can go on a date spend all you want , kiss the girl and feel her throughout, but if you don't know where the entry to the heart is. Then your the kind person needs to be watching videos like this. Tanzania is where is beautiful, it is balanced not by us but by the continent, there is eternal peace here, it honestly is as serane and eternally peaceful like Switzerland, comparably. Nothing can disrupt the tranquility of Tanzania . Now in regard to the issue of investment, you would be an epic moron to miss out on the land of eternal peace, with equatorial weather, that is specious and extremely light populated, with renowned global rank of being endowed with everything that is beautiful on earth. Let me put you out your misery, as long as africa is concerned there is no place more beautiful eternally than Tanzania. No one I mean literally not a soul will mind ur bussiness just make your money and eat the biggest chicken money can buy. Zanzibar is a property of Tanzania one of her incredibly tiny regions that is renowned for the inflow and outflow of tourist, you can't possibly reside at a tourist destination just like you couldn't survive living Hawaii, it's not real. Zanzibar is a mere reflection of Tanzania. Tanzania is the COUNTRY , the business. You be a moron to miss out on this place take it from me. It's the spot. For all you need reacquaitence with the motherland...just read what I have wrote bove and see if it appeals to you. We only offer seranity. Living here for 15 years. Used to live the past ten in Europe somewhere.
i am Tanzanian and i am a consultant , you are 100% right , especially in zanzibar it is not advisable to invest , bureaucracy is terrible , expat who lost money with real estate because they have been mislead are in thousands
Not true...
Thank you Weyni, this video is very informative.

Very Very Very True.
Sec thing u talk about getting job in zanzibar 😂😂😂 u're tourist how come u're epecting to work over there? I been there many times none of these are true may she had something else in her mind
Hahahaha Very Funny 😅😂😅
Hi there so after I listened to your concerns this what I came up with.
1> So the internet situation it looks like poor communication/ integration with locals. There is internet the fastest several companies is used airtel was doing my work no problem at all.
2. Foreigners the need to break the barriers dont hang out or get to know diplomats you will fail.
3. There lots Foreigners who have adjusted very well. Actually plenty of them thr numbers up.
4. When it comes to bureaucracy the president been working hard to make changes that's why there is massive tourism.
5> The islands keep changing Actually just left there holidays lots changes for better.
Can't I go to that Unguja on 2026 instead of 2025!? What's has happened there ?
We love Zanzibar mamy
This goes pretty much the same for the main land as well.
Tanzania In general
Hi,
"While I appreciate your efforts to provide insight into Zanzibar, I believe the articulation of your points comes across as biased. It is important to recognize that no place in the world is without its challenges. There is always room for improvement in addressing the issues mentioned, and I am confident that the government is diligently working to tackle these concerns. It is essential to allow individuals to form their own opinions. While you may not agree, some of us acknowledge and embrace the situation, actively contributing to positive changes. It is disheartening, and I am unsure of your intentions in this matter." and your intentions about Zanzibar.
Well said brother Ahmed
Maybe she get paid to talk this bullshit bcz there is no places in the world without challenges

Can you own land in Nairobi.?
Nairobi is investor-friendly and pretty much developed and very urbanized. The only problem I have with Nairobi is traffic gridlock other than that, there is little difference between doing business in New York City and Nairobi.

No wonder Tanzania is opening doors to Somalia. They know we are business oriented. Look at Kenya. Though half if Krnya belongs to us and tge otger half to Masai. The rest came from central Africa during colonial time
WATCH UR TONGUE PHUCKBOY, DONT COME SUBSAHARA WITH UR GUESS WHAT AN ARAB DID TO MY SSS SHIT! SOMALI !!!!!!!! PIECE OF EXCRIMENT IS SURVING ON THE GRANTS AND LOANS FROM TURKEY AND SAUDI ARABIA ... EASY COME , IS EASY GO!
Tanzania and Somalis forget about it. Maybe you dont know Tanzanaia well.
@@Summertm which country are you from? I'm sure it's dump

No she is not from Kenya
But I was in Zanzibar just last week and I was getting a 5G fast network. Why misleading?
Hi can you please advise what happened in Ghana in terms of colonisation etc. Thank you love your work
Great info.
Glad it was helpful!
That is not true about a local partner owning 70% of the business!!!
Kindly clarify please. I know in the mainland is 51%, what about Zanzibar?
That's not true. Internet is reliable . Zanzibar is a small Island which is beautiful with all necessary services including electricity and water. What you are doing is a bad campaign against tourism business in Zanzibar. Do not compare Zanzibar with Kenya. Zanzibar is a peaceful place and its people are so loving. Your campaign will definitely fail
Not true in case of wifi they’re is good company that offer good service but there’s no public wifi as where you from i.e like zanlink they’re all over the islands no where you can’t get good wifi unless the weather is very very very very bad but we use it and it’s fine madam
Such a helpful video and I have been in Zanzibar for about 3 weeks. It is truly beautiful and staying in Fumbatown has been the most stable WiFi. .
I do work online and there have been issues but I hear the other areas are far worse .
These places do come with a generator so maybe electric or WiFi is out an 1 hr or at most 2 .
They also have a back up coworking space I can rent.
This is an expat community
I will definitely find the starting a business video

No doubt Zanzibar is a great place but several western bloggers have brought up issues about that island. Expensive but does not meet the standards. How come people don't complain about Seychelles?
Your problem is Jealous.
Because we don't use cheese in our traditional food,we eat chapati, chapati, yams, sweet potatoes ,potatoes and cassava which is not used butter, ,we eat only organic food vegetables and some other food.about power soon will be fixed.
You are absolutely right about everything. I have zero interest in going there when the electricity does not even work properly and when they mistreat tourists
Mistreat tourists - how????
It would be pleasant to do a review on which is the best part to live in for an expat in Mombasa versus Nairobi. If you want to preserve tradition and culture, especially raising children coming from the western world. The Netherlands. Same origin as you, by the way.
@@alimtanta2934 it depends. Mombasa is predominantly Muslim. And the climate is very hot and humid. That’s why I personally prefer Nairobi. If you want to visit Mombasa you can simply jump on a train and be there in 5 hours.
Zanzibar is overcrowded, high unemployment,no room for migrants.
