I would choose the Nissan Frontier, always loved nissan V6 🇯🇵. I do like how they made a hardbody retro.
I was expecting for a new Tacoma 2024 but two days ago I bought the Frontier Pro X instead. I made the right choice.
i choose that Nissan. It's solid and beautiful design
I really wanted to get a 24 Taco but I'll take a NA V6 over a turbo 4 banger any day. Got a 23 Frontier P4X and LOVE it.
Have you driven one of the Tacomas yet?
@@saywhatnow57 They drive fine, i personnaly know people with Turbo engines and they are trouble, even for Toyota, V6 for me.
@@stockey I personally know people with V6s that have trouble. Turbos for me.
@@saywhatnow57 Turbo is more likely to have issues compared to a plain V6....
Frontier Pro-4X all day long over the new Taco 4cyl.
Would have been nice if that Frontier hardbody came with lockers. I'd rather just get a Pro-4x for 3-4k less.
I had a 2014 frontier, great truck all around with its 4.0 v6 and 5 speed automatic drove that truck everywhere even from Eugene Oregon all the way to Santa rosa California with zero problems. pretty good off-road too.
I would rather have the Nissan
I'm old enough to remember Circuit City. 😂😅😂
When I was 17 I sold car audio there for awhile.
Hell, I remember Radio Shack
The good guys , anybody?
Best Buys competition
Nobody beat the whiz
The Frontier is an awesome truck, hope Nissan brings back the Manual to respond to Toyota.
Yes. My 1987 Hardbody is still on the original 5 speed. Sat in the new Frontier and they are cool, but just feels weird to not grab a stick shifter. They already have a great six speed and should offer it!
Frontier best
No Tacoma best
Nissan makes a good truck - they really should drop the price to 39K they would clean house and sell like crazy - Oh and I bought the '23 Pro4x for just over 41,500 as discounted left over in Jan '24. Try that in a Tacoma!
Same here. Lucked out and went out of town to a Nissan dealership that just got a bunch of '24's on the lot but still had '23's on the lot marked down. Two identical P4X's were nicely marked off MSRP and grabbed one. Love this truck.
Fair comparison would be Pro 4X. But Nissan cant sell the new hardbody trim so they are giving them out as press trucks instead of the Pro 4X.
The price is way too high. For that price of the hardbody you can get a titan pro4x with 10k on it for 40-42k. The Frontier is hands down the best midsize truck atm all things considered. Nissan should update the camera system, add telescoping steering wheel and make a more competitive halo top trim like the warrior concept they teased. However you can find brand new Pro4X’s for a few thousands off MSRP, you ain’t doing that in any other midsize truck. When in doubt keep it simple!!!! Be smart guys, do not buy a ford or a Chevy!! The Tacoma is not bad but you want all the bells and whistles.
@@brandon_buildsDIYunfortunately all those updates you talked about will Jack the price up. Car companies don’t get it
Exactly, got my pro4x for 41k. I have no clue why people would pay 46+k for these.
I dont know why you would want to sacrifice a locker and LED headlights for cool stickers and power outlets.
But hey to each their own, no harm in offering it I guess.
Still have a stereo with CD player in my Nissan Frontier installed by Circuit City.
What’s the issue with a gas cap? I put them on vehicles that don’t have them to keep out dust and dirt which accumulates if you actually use the truck off pavement.
Exactly. Agree 100%
I'm a Toyota truck dude, but that Nissan sounds pretty cool.
I chose the Nissan frontier smooth shifting. Good power normally aspirated V6 good ride, beautiful - interior beautiful exterior...
I have a 2023 Frontier Pro 4x. I love it, no rattles, no gimmicks or unnecessary tech.
You don't need sport modes in a mid size truck. This was a Toyota bias vehice review as they own one.
Just so we are clear, we bought one for content creation. Not for brand bias.
I agree. They were bias. I purchased a 24 Pro4x. I drove both. Pro4x was loaded and cost 10k less than an equally equipped Sport. Interior was comfortable, quiet and easy to use. The Tacoma had a way more plastic feel. The Hardbody is not the same as the Pro4x.
Paid $40,000 for Frontier SV 4 WD , king cab 6’ bed and every option. Comparable toyota trucklet with a 4 cylinder,5’ bed be $60,000.
Ur comparing an sv to toyotas too end model kinda stupid
@@ktmcrush2290 u shud learned how Tospel Engwish befaure u koment 🤣😂
@@ktmcrush2290 It's not a stupid comparison when you can't find the cheaper optioned Tacoma anywhere.
I love Toyota but the frontier all the way not even close.
I really like the new Tacoma, better mpg & better low end torque. 4 wheel disc, coil springs in rear, etc. But, I’m going to wait a year or 2 for any bugs 🪳 to get worked out plus I want yo see how the Hybrid Max does.
Uh, Nissan had 4 wheel disc BEFORE Toyota, and still does.
Ile take the Nissan all day long.
And if I was sharing that day with you, I would break for lunch and go for the Tacoma
@@sammyjammy6647 that's the best you can do? Pathetic
When you can get a pro4x fully loaded for less than a stripped down tacoma sr, I don't see any advantage for a tacoma.
I chose the new Tacoma! But while I am not a fan of my off-road rims, those retro rims on the Nissan would make me for sure buy aftermarket replacements.
I’ve seen the new tacoma multiple times up close at the dealer when I had to drop my 3rd gen in for warranty recalls. Sat in it, saw the terrible rear window trim in the rear seats. The front drivers seat does not have full adjustment. Only the back can up and down for well seat adjustment and not the front. So you legs would touch the steering wheel since it was designed for certain smaller drivers.
What 3rd gen recalls do you speak of?
Welcome to Circuit City... where service is state of the art.
Its hard due to the packages. My Pro 4x (package stripped) was only 41k. I am sure you can get a ton of variation in the tacos too. This makes it hard to do a direct comparison of "what this truck has" vs "what that truck has" as there are pretty drastic variations. For example my 41k pro4x has LEDs, upgraded infotainment, and a rear locker. So if you are not getting one truck vs the other over simple add ons there is always way to sacrifice unwanted features for other upgrades.
can you put a bed cover on that frontier? That bed accessory looks to be in the way
Nissian looks great and the 6 cycl ,once aftermarket kicks in , there will be lots option.Seems hes Bias because he owns a toyota🤔🤔
Love the Frontier HB.... Dont like the red or non LED headlights. Would probably get the Pro4x and swap out wheels.
They run basically identical 0-60 times and he claims the Tacoma is faster "by alot" 😂 Even the examples of the best runs he gave were so close they would feel exactly the same in the seat of the pants. I'd much prefer the V6 over any 4cyl.
Frontier love mine
I was initially looking into a Frontier Hardbody, but then 2 things stood out to me...
HALOGEN headlights...and NO BLUETOOTH. In a vehicle coming in over $45k....there is ZERO reason to make these choices in making the vehicle just to make it "retro"
I always go with nissans when it comes to truck/suv. I dont consider toyotax. Dont get me wrong yes toyotax is reliable and good resale value. But hey, im cheap and I dont want to pay 10, 15, 20k more for same year model and mileage compared to nissan/honda.
What’s going on with the Tacoma transmission???
Wonder why it's a secret? Gotta protect Toyotas?
Looks like your dcm is not connecting on your Tacoma
Interesting how boost pressure lowered with one more passenger with the Tacoma. Maybe that was tuned by Toyota to protect the 4 cylinder ?
If I wanted a flimsy turbo 4 banger sedan I'd get the Taco. If I wanted a truck I'd get the Frontier.
I just purchased a Nissan Frontier over the Tacoma due to Toyotas recent reliability issues and not having a 6 cylinder.
The 0 to 60 testing always cracks me up. Sure, if it's so slow that it can't merge into traffic, that's a problem. But it's a truck who the heck is driving the thing like a race car. Who cares? It's not 12 seconds to get up to highway speed like the old 2.7 l normally aspirated Tacoma.
Nissan all day long. Last of a real true N/A V6 truck. 😎❤️🍻
I'll take Taco for better mpg alone.
Comparison is the theft of joy
Always a V6, no turbo four banger for me.
Excellent comparison!
I'll keep my 2017 TRD over both of those!
According to the comments looks like 10 to 1 Nissan
You're not hitting no bump stop unless you got 1200 lb in the bed.
I hate auto up and down. Im always going back and forth, trying to get window half way.
It's all about bragging rights for more gizmos, rather than actual usefulness.
Why do you roll the window down halfway? Smoking?
@@saywhatnow57 yes
Are you pushing too hard,?
I think has two levels,
@@donays8241 My old Honda has 2 levels of pressure.
I prefer V8 but V6 is always better then 4 cylinder. Good by Tacoma
That turbo 4 is insanely complicated.. Just wait and see..
Turbos are pretty sorted these days. Sure it’s new for Toyota, but it’s been a norm for 10 years with others. They just work in our experience these days.
Not that we don’t miss the personality of natural aspiration!
Nissan all day
Did you guys just 0-60 the Frontier while in 4WD High? why? lol
You tested the Tacoma in "Sport Shift Mode" without 4WD engaged? is that what you did?
I can’t recall which method was most successful in each truck, but we test them in 2wd and 4wd plus various drive modes/traction control settings (if applicable) then report the best time on screen. I can tell you that the Tacoma likes 4wd with mild brake boosting to wake the turbo up.
#nissanfrontier 1,000%
Nissan frontier alll day long... give it time and people will see what a gem this is when this new taco needs turbo replacment, if you do your own maintenenance and plan to buy a taco, have a look at the engine bay and see how hard it is to replace before you buy....
This Nissan backseat is so disappointing with that angle. It’s very uncomfortable and couldn’t imagine sitting there driving hours to a vaca spot. What were they thinking!?
Still better than the Taco, can’t even fit an adult back there it’s so darn small!
Yes I own the Nissan and I have to say the back seats are the downfall but I don't sit back there so too bad for the kids!!
Tacoma all day everyday by far.
Fan boy.
Just got the Nissan for my crew pure garbage transmission sounds like crap and steering is stiff
step on the gas of the frontier and nothing basically happens....these guys are so wrong with their utterly biased video....
Not true. But thanks for watching.
Another paid Tacoma commercial. 🤡
Pfft, only if by paid, you mean we spent 47k of our own money on buying a truck to review for our audience. Thanks for watching.
Nissan
Nissan Frontier for the win IMO
Nissan can go 7.4.
Well, if the commentators were a little thinner around the waist they might get to 7.4 LOL.
Who would have thought Nissan would be the new king of the pick up truck?
