@TechCowboy For me it was the silent revocation of the lifetime license. Lifetime has a special legal meaning. They knew what they were doing and that how they were doing it looks sketchy and underhanded. I'd you need the recurring revenue sit down with your user base and be upfront about it. Compensate them in some way for ending "lifetime" upgrades. Reach an agreement with most of your users. There are about 1000 better ways to do this. The real cherry on the poop sundae was the copyright strike they issued to threaten his channel. That's not sketchy. IMHO that's straight up dirty. I'm feeling like I dodged a bullet because I had been hearing good things about them.
You know if you would have paid it would have nullified your lifetime and their lawyer probably told them people are dumb they dont read and when they do it they can eliminate those licenses I say let them go bankrupt they showed they have no love but for money and loyalty means nothing they literally tried to buy your silence what else they willing to do>???
Hey man, put Daniel in contact with Nick Rekieta, Uncivil Law and them fellas. They know their way around the YT DMCA crap and can hopefully help him out.
I hate that they're doing this to you but it's kind of good because it's showing their true colors. Definitely not a company I will be doing business with.
i had to pay for filmora 11 without noticing that i need to pay more, they are a meme company. even filmora is not a good editing app infact its one of the worse, time to switch to adobe
Challenge the copyright strike! Once RUclips understands that you were under "Contract" to provide that content and was paid by them to do so, that puts the ball back in their court...
Take your support of Daniel's channel to Twitter. Filmora (and companies like it) NEED us...we don't "need" them. We have options. Spread the word on Twitter
RUclips gave company power to claim/takedown video , at the same time youtube will refuse to be mediator between these two. When that happen, you are facing the entity who f*ck you up with their all mighty power youtube gave them.
Unfortunately, RUclips lets the person making the strike handle the appeal and decide whether it's really a strike or not. RUclips does not handle appeals themselves. Unless they get embarrassed enough.
I agree, the deck is stacked in favor of the companies who ask to have the content removed and it's not worth fighting that. Better to just call them out publicly and shame them for what they are doing.
Moral of the story: Filmora is a company that will betray you and stab you in the back as soon as they have the opportunity, it's a shame cus I really liked filmora
This is a PR nightmare. And they made it so. I found you through this saga and I wish you the best. You clearly have integrity. They’re making a very uncomfortable bed for themselves.
What they need to hire is a leader committed to living up to their promises. I was a short time user. Bought 11 about 4 days before the 90 day window. I understood what I was purchasing and for me, I have to pay if I want to upgrade. For prior users, the company needs to live by their word. Since they won’t, I’ve moved on to Davinci Resolve and will not be upgrading.
Wow, such a despicable tactic. Filmora is now in my "don't touch" category. I'll also make sure to bring up the kind of company they are, when discussing video editing software.
I have just watched all of these videos and I really respect the tone and temperament that you have taken with Filmora. I hope that this all works out in the end. That being said, seeing how they are doubling down and attacking your channel, I am not going to hold my breath. I hope that they don't pull any more sneaky underhanded stuff in the future.
Only discovered you with the first video. Not planning on making RUclips content any time soon, but your channel seems like a wonderful resource. So I've subscribed and am giving you a financial thanks for standing up to corrupt companies changing their licenses!
@@TweekLudwig Thanks. The only way the world will be a good place is if we become the type of person we want others to be. So I try to give others the support I'd like when I need it.
Their tactics have moved from being unreasonable to getting personal. Totally unacceptable behaviour from any company. Daniel - you’ve shifted from being an ambassador for Filmora to being an ambassador for fairness and the digital community appreciates that more than you realise ❤
Ay... This is not the conduct of a reliable company to trust with your business. I got to think they're pretty desperate for more sales at this point and possibly doomed to fail. Why else paint themselves as a company who's risky to do business with - shady in one way than probably shady in other ways. The "Lifetime licenses" sold so many years ago can't possibly be a significant percentage of the addressable market for their product; this decision which cannabilizes their entire user community who would otherwise be evangelizing their product clearly a costly move, And I'd suspect hardly any of those people will be happily springing for that Version 12... Why pay extra for the Lifetime if you were willing to buy a subscription? I imagine the Terms being a huge factor in those users' purchasing decision.
Sounds like it's time to lawyer up, they're going after Daniel personally - despite Filmora's own wrong doing and manipulative and predatory business practices. I think it's time for them to be served a class action lawsuit, at the very least to protect yourself and others legally from their own ill designs.
@@futuza Well I would suggest people start by filing complaint forms with the FTC if they dishonored your Lifetime license purchase. Class action would fail if some of the terms in the EULA were upheld, But the FTC is not beholden to the EULA and can pursue penalties under Unfair business practice statutes which the FTC can enforce.
Knowingly filing a false DMCA takedown is perjury. More relevant to you, it's an open and shut civil case should this actually cause you financial damages. Keep up the good work. As a fellow RUclips educationfluencer, I'm tired of companies behaving this way.
Such naivety. Lawyers aren't stupid. It's not "knowingly false" if they "believe" what they are doing is legal (that would be unknowingly false). What are you going to sue them for? Lost revenue on a video? That will be a LOT less than the cost of going to court, and they know it. They *always* win.
@@dmhendricks I see you commenting with no knowledge on DMCA on a few comment threads. Stop it. It was a sponsored video. They entered into contract with him to make that video. That constitutes a clear "knowingly false" claim. In addition, it doesn't matter what they (or you for that matter) THINK is legal. Making a false DMCA claim is perjury, and large companies have lost suits from youtubers over FAR less cut and dry situations than this one.
@@dmhendricks It was a sponsored video. They have a contract instructing him to use the asset they now claim was copyright infringement. There is no way they can argue that was in good faith. And yes, suing them is a pointless endeavour. Even if you are basically guaranteed a win, the damage is negligible, so there is no point. If they remove the strike, that is. You can still sue them for injunctive relief if they don't.
Wow - I also purchased Filmora based off of your recommendation. Pretty scary stuff. Thank you Daniel for sharing your story! Buyers beware is an understatement!
It sounds like a perfect situation for a lawyer to do some pro bono work. If Filmora is coming after you like this that may end up being some kind of contractual reneging, legal harassment, defamation, or the like. Don't give up the fight, 'cause you're in the right!
So glad I watch your videos, was in the market for a video editing software and dodge a bullet with Filmora thanks to you, now I’m learning the ropes with DaVinci resolve. Thanks brother for having the balls to stand up for what’s right and expose what seems to be a BS move by this company. Stay strong!
Ohhh boy, so someone at filmora thought "Hey he's criticizing us, go and post a DMCA claim on one of his videos sponsored by us to scare him and put him in line." Right now, if the filmora guys are reading these comments, and one of them, who is not a complete imbecile, decides to ask a lawyer "Hey lawyer, are we in trouble?" The lawyer, if he is being gentle, will just tear them a new one and tell them to retract the DMCA claim and publicly apologize.😹 Any lawyer seeing this will have a field day with filmora.

Agree, I hope Daniel finds the right lawyer, Filmora messed up big time by requesting a strike on that specific video.
I dont use Filmora i dont know who this guy is. BUT because of how professional he is, how calm he is, and how neutral he is being giving he is being attacked by a company who worked with him he has my support. a comment and like and i hope more and more people see this. Stay strong my guy
Same thing 100% with you, didn't know about him or anyone until now. But now I've subscribed, liked and will follow. Companies like this should not be allowed to do stuff like this. Especially if it is a SPONSORED video from them.
Same with me. I consider myself pretty nonconfrontational, sometimes to a fault so, but I honestly admire the sincere calm and positive stance Daniel (?) takes in this issue while taking a stand.
Came to post something very similar. Also, as an editor, I was already thinking about making a jump to DaVinci Resolve. Maybe now is the time and I know someone I can count on to help me out.
My goal has always been to help unite our voices so that we can hopefully be heard. Flying off the handle doesn't help that whatsoever. Our voices coming together in unison is what can affect change in corporate policy. Stay tuned!
Sorry to hear that filmora did that. This is totally unfair. Did they take their copyright strike back? I really like the way you explain editing, even you can't find such explanation in their official channel.
It's just a matter of time until he gets a cease and desist for slander. Some companies roll this way. Nintendo is another great offender of intimidation.
I was on an annual plan and just upgraded to 12. I won't be maintaining my relationship with Filmora when it comes time to renew again, based on how they're treating you and other paying customers. Keep up the fight, bruv! We're behind you all the way.
I fall into the "never heard of you or filmora" category and I say you are doing gods work. I am interested in doing video editing. Your video came into my feed. Filmora can suck it and they'll never get a dime from me ESPECIALLY since you can get something like DaVinci resolve FOR FREE
The problem with their EULA is you can't claim one thing in your marketing material and then nullify that with a contract (aka the EULA) It's simply not allowed and would run afoul of several consumer protection laws. This is exactly the kind of thing that gets FTC investigators fired up and ready to do work.
And then they get shut down because the only law broken was deceptive advertising. Not even something the FTC does anything about unless it hits millions of people.
Yeah. They cannot give a clear definition of what the license purchase entails and then change it on the fly later. it is a legally binding agreement and under terms like these, no contract or agreement would have any meaning.
But they didn't nullify the contract? They just laid out a different set of schemes so that they release essentially a different product "upgrades" which is not under that contract. Like they added a new thing that isn't covered uner a stupid word technicality. They didn't alter the lifetime license right?
Wondershare does seem to be heading into a Streisand effect (or something like it) very quickly. They could have easily done nothing and this would probably blow over after awhile. But now they're not only ticking off long time users, but they are showing bad faith and will lose sales to new users as they may find this video.
Smells of "New boss has taken over and CLEARLY knows better than previous ones" and is making sweeping changes. Which in turn usually smells of things going badly behind the scenes.
It's a combination of hubris and stupidity. The world is full of supposedly smart people who can't perform the basic of critical thought in order to understand what the 2nd, 3rd and successive order consequences of their actions. Consequently, they will be shocked when their business begins to tank.
@@demicus I disagree, I think this was the goal all along. This license agreement never felt right with the amount of pushing of subscription payments they were doing for special effects and fonts an other glitz. Every time I pushed the update button, I crossed my fingers and hoped this wouldn't be the time they demanded payment. Glad I saw these videos first.
I run a recording studio and I was watching one of your videos because I am learning video editing. Though you informed us that they were getting rid of their lifetime licenses, I was still considering using Filmora because the price still seemed pretty good. That has now changed and I will never use their software in my studio. Thank you very much for keeping everyone informed.
I'm pretty sure that issuing a DMCA copyright takedown notice against a video _they themselves sponsored and approved_ is textbook DMCA abuse. Depending on how far Filmora is ready to go to come after you, you may want to talk to a lawyer, if you haven't, already.
What are you going to sue them for? Lost revenue on the video? That's going to be a LOT less than the cost of going to trial. It would be ridiculous to sue them, and they know it. They always win.
@Daniel M. Hendricks Filing a false DMCA complaint is perjury, which is against the law. It seems like it would be pretty easy for him to prove that this video was part of his negotiated brand ambassador deal, which would prove that the claim is false, and given the timing of the strike it would be apparent it was also in bad faith.
@@dmhendricks dude, there are so many things to sue them for right now. DMCA abuse as well as blatant false advertising. A good lawyer could pull a lot of money out of this.
i dont do video editing, i have no clue why this saga found it's way into my reccs but I appreciate you're very calm and professional demeanor through all of this BS. I basically have no direct stake in this mess but I absolutely hate when companies pull stuff like this so I'm rooting for you
Video found their way into my recommendations too! Like yourself, I am certainly no video editor. However, due to this guy’s calm and collected nature, honesty and decency, I’ve decided to sub! Definitely a decent bloke if you ask me.
I am completely enjoying this. I love how they tried to bribe you with a new "partnership" to buy your silence, and when that didn't work, they try silencing you through copyright. So shady!
The only contact I had with any wondershare product was through the occasional "Dr. Fone" "ad" that would pop up occasionally when searching for a specific fix for a phone. It was clear to me that their promises were over the top and they couldn't hold them, e.g. "recover any data from any phone" or something like that. The weird wording of the article would almost certainly make sure it is just in place to lure people into buying their useless software suite. I found a working solution with other software nearly every time, and after seeing this shitshow there is no way I would buy ANY software made by their, now clearly deep down shady, company
@@wishihadablog Yes. I feel for Daniel getting the short end of the stick, but perhaps thru this many peope will learn to steer clear of Chinese products as much as possible.
Wow, Thanks for the tip.... I have a 1 year VIP access on a Chinese app video editor. I will just have to take their Pro features and use it to my advantage instead.
Their current sponsorships are really horrible. I had an actual deal with them but now they just reach out to anyone, regardless of niche and offer them horribly low amounts of money to make Filmora videos.
All I can say is two things. Firstly it shows their true colours when it comes to loyalty and it's all about their 'bottom line'', and secondly THANK GOD I switched to DaVinci Resolve. What they are doing to you Daniel is disgusting and I won't be touching their products again as far as I can throw them. Keep being you, man.
What a scummy thing for Filmora to do to you. Haven't they heard the saying never bite the hand that feeds you. With ethics like that, I will never, ever buy anything from them, and they need to remember, Karma is a beotch. I am new to your channel, but I like your ethics. Keep up the good work Daniel, and thanks for keeping everybody informed
The algorithm has shown me three of your videos so far, all relating to this software license issue. Knowing nothing of you, your other content or anything else about video editing, I do appreciate the stand you are taking on this. I also feel for the general staff of this company that had no say in the license wording. They now likely have to endure countless shitty meetings called by the management that caused this.
Yeah that's the real shame in all this, isn't it? A bunch of users screwed over, a youtube content creator screwed over, and a bunch of employees that had no say in an incredibly poor decision who are now associated with a company that is dragging its own reputation through the gutter... and all for a quick money grab that all but ensures that their brand becomes radioactive. What makes it even worse is that the software is actually good, the people who worked on it should be proud of what they accomplished and instead they're gonna be ashamed of being associated with these actions that were likely directed by a few shortsighted execs.
Same here. I don't care about video editing at all, but I love legal "mumbo jumbo". I love it when a person is right, and feels he is right, and can properly explain why he is right, but is at the same time being wronged, and looking forward to the aftermath. RUclips knew my taste well when they suggested the first video a couple of days ago. I hopz to see this conclude further without the need to subscribe to Daniel. Daniel deserves all support, but me as a subscriber is meaningless to his channel if I don't share the same interests.
Same here. I know nothing about these programs (Mostly a Linux user), but in the near future when I need to edit video in Windows (Upcoming work project), I will absolutely disregard anything with made by or associated with, Filmora. I don't pay money to companies with that kind of attitude.
@Christopher Kidwell will if you legally force them, which is STILL not 100%, as a VERY expensive option isn't exactly the way it should be for obvious cases of abuse.
I create content on other channels I own, but one thing is now certain, I'll never use Filmora when I'm in the market for a new brand of editing software, after this own goal of theirs! What they have, and are doing, is a first-rate lesson in how to destroy one's own brand. Congratulations, Filmora!
It really is amazing how many companies don’t seem to grasp how the Streisand Effect works. They may well end up sinking the brand (and at this point m I’d say that is totally fair.). What’s sad is, I’m sure they still believe they are in the right. Now, legally speaking, they probably would win, just due to the state of consumer right’s law in the US. But from the “doing the right thing,” angle they really went full evil corporation. As a software developer I honestly understand the pain of having existing “lifetime licenses” on your books. I commented to the original video noting that it’s like a debt you can never pay down. However, that’s not any of the license holders fault. Issuing these kinds of licenses early on in a product’s life is incredibly common, well it used to be at least. It’s a calculated risk, taking every step possible to increase their market share in the space. Most companies tend to think, having too many lifetime users is a luxury problem. So they make an offer few could refuse, if they have the means to make the purchase. Virtually every company that does this knows that, apart from add ons, that’s then end of that revenue stream from that user. But when you’re just trying to get your foot in the door, it’s usually gamble worth taking. Then you have companies like the creators of Filmora. At some point someone high up the chain of command likely decided they needed to “fix” this “problem.” So they execute a plan, that at least legally speaking, would probably stand up in court. Of course having a legal right, and how enforcing it will be received are two different animals. Honestly, I wouldn’t give them a second chance. The main reason is this wasn’t some executive making a rash decision in the heat of the moment. They executed a plan over a number of years to create the legal groundwork to take this final step. It speaks volumes about how they see their user base. Some may try to say, “it’s just business.” But businesses are run by people and their actions reflect the views and beliefs of those people. There is a phrase that’s currently in vogue, that I think applies here. When someone tells you who they are, believe them.
Filmora is really hurting themselves here. I hope that someone who has some sense at Wondershare sees this video and reverses course. Your videos are awesome, you are really awesome!
Great stuff Daniel, keep up the great work! I too am a lifetime license holder and these sneaky and corrupt corporate tactics need to stop. Thank you for being a voice for all of us who have been hoodwinked by this and other unscrupulous companies!
I just sent my tweet to the company. Daniel, iHope this helps! This is low, to come after Daniel's primary channel because THEY want to rob & scheme...and got caught ripping people off??? That's not okay.
It's astounding how none of these companies ever learn from each other. This isn't the first I've heard of something like this and it won't be the last. It NEVER goes well when they attempt these punitive measures and they inevitably end up backtracking with permanent damage done to their reputation. It's so predictable and yet they can't help themselves.
I learnt my lesson back in Adobe CS5. Adobe removed a great feature called self-made sliders. Despite huge backlash. Then they went very cloudy. To hell with Adobe, Filmora or any of them. Now I use Linux and FOSS.
It never goes well IN THOSE SITUATIONS YOU'VE HEARD ABOUT. Think about the millions of times this happens silently in the night, and then it does go 'well' for the company involved. In the cases you've heard about, there's a victim above a certain threshold of online reach.
@@liquidsnow1 It has nothing to do with the individuals involved, the profit motive is to blame. The people at the top are completely normal and empathetic, they do what they are required to do by their fiduciary duty to shareholders without feeling.
Man, I can’t believe they’ve escalated the situation like this. I haven’t opened Filmora in awhile but I’ll be using another program the next time I make a video.
You need to go through the FULL appeal process. If you see it through it gets to the point where they have to either file legally or lift their strike. Also as someone who was contemplating using Filmora thanks to your videos...NOT NOW, NOT EVER. Unless they apologize and rescind they have lost me and anyone i communicate with in the industry as a potential user.
I need the head of power in that company to step down and apologize and never be in power again. Or they should burn to the ground and I feel no sympathy for every bit of money they have to spend as they crumble under lawsuits and public disapproval
I had never heard of Daniel until a few minutes ago when I saw his first video about this. I’d never heard of Filmora, either, but I do create and edit videos and have been looking for a new software to use. I can definitely say that I will never buy anything from this company under any circumstance, because they’ve proven their word means absolutely nothing, and they will just twist their TOC to suit their purposes no matter what they say.
@@tarabooartarmy3654 same here I’m sticking to open source software. Sick of these corporate shenanigans If it were me, and it wasn’t just a money grab, which it is, yiu would fork the product into two. One that keeps the legacy functionality with no new features, and newer product that has the new features, and significant functionality that would make upgrading to a value proposition. But nope, they’re clearly a bunch of narcissistic abusive douchebags, that gaslight and lie, and, when you don’t go along with them, punish you and blame your actions for their bad behaviour
@@MidlifeRenaissanceMan Agreed. Open source is the way to go whenever possible. My biggest issue with most open source software is a lack of UX/UI and since I’m a UX/UI designer myself, I may contact some developers and work to improve them because more people need to use open source.
Thanks for keeping it real. Our company will NEVER deal with Filmora again. We will not be renewing our licences or purchasing new ones. We won't stand for this bullshit and neither should anyone else. There are better people out there.
Thanks Daniel….do not back down. Take them to task and make them explain. Please let us know what we can do to help. I will share the video and hope that others watch and see this situation play out. Your content is compelling and you are fun to watch. I gave up on Filmora in 2020 and switched to fcp but I always found your videos so helpful when I did use the product!
Ironically, your recent squabble with Filmora is my first exposure to their product so you're still the brand ambassador and still just honestly showing their product for what it is.
I don’t edit videos, know what Filmora is nor have I seen a single video from this channel until today. However, due this amazing RUclipsrs ability to make content as mundane as this interesting, I am now invested in this conversation.
Same here. Now I know to stay away from this program lol I sorta wanna learn video editing to make random videos (mostly gameplay stuff) but I've heard Davinci Resolve is a good free program for that.
This is pretty egregious at this point. Skirt around the EULA they put in place to take more money from us, get called out (RIGHTFULLY) and then try to silence the main guy responsible for even getting there name out there. Keep up the good fight Daniel!
Ain't no way this is actually happening 💀💀💀 what is wrong with these people? It's like you hurt their ego or something and they're reacting in the worst way possible. Mad respect to you man. We've all got your back if things go down hill for your channel. Hopefully things start panning out for the better.
I started using Flimora because of Daniel and how I feel like I need to find another software because of the situation. I don't want to support a company that tries to bully and take advantage of one of their top supporters/embassaters. We all support you Daniel.
there are several apps people i know use for editing and tell people to go for over this, more so since this behavior started but before that due to some support issues they had that took a long time to fix, including activation issues with lifetime licences before this change... just a pita... hell... one gal i know went back to using vegas, Pinnicle, Avid, corel, power director, and other well known apps, including lightworks, the number of people i know using vegas has grown alot in the last couple years...
Discovered your channel as a result of RUclips sending me your first video about Filmora's BS. I love how calm and collected you are about the situation, and how articulate you voice your opinions, experiences, and frustrations. You've got a new sub from me. I'm so sad to see that this company is treating someone who helped them grow so poorly.
I’m brand new to your channel. I’m a content creator. I had never heard of Filmora until I watched a few of your videos. I would never do business with a company that treats their former business partners this way. I’ll NEVER consider using their products. Thank you for telling the truth!
Daniel, I hadn't heard of you or Filmora until the algorithm threw you on my front page. Your professionalism alone is worth the sub, and I look forward to learning something new from your catalogue.
When I became interested in making a few videos back around 2019 or so, I ran across your RUclips channel, and it was THANKS to you that I eventually went with Filmora 9, and even bought the "lifetime license". If it hadnt been for you, I'dve ended up elsewhere. After hearing this, your restraint and class in the face of their attacks is incredible and admirable. When I grow up I wanna be just like you.
They've crossed a legal line. They're knowingly abusing the copyright system with false copyright claims. My advice at this point is to have your attorney contact them immediately. Don't let them get any further or they're going to cause you a LOT of problems.
I'll say this, they already crossed a legal line. Those who bought lifetime licenses are under the original EULA, not any updated ones, because their licenses are from that time, so they can't be held to the terms of any updated license. That includes the original definition they gave of "updates," which was pretty clear and would cover Filmora 12 as well as future versions. It would be a shame if no one sues Wondershare over this.
@@cabin98 yes, maybe as a China based company Filmora isn't aware of this, but they've opened themselves up to lawsuits by not honoring the licenses that were bought.
Wow! Filmora must be butt hurt to do such a sneaky thing. I was also considering giving Filmora a try after watching your videos and learning about how Filmora wanted to resolve the recent debacle with their Life Time License holders. Figured they were doing the right thing and it showed that the company was upstanding. But now to hear this!? I don't think I want to touch their software. They seem spiteful and devious. I'll keep watching your updates to see how this pans out.
I honestly don't know how your videos got recommended to me (not a content creator, just consumer) but man you've earned my respect 3000x here for sticking up for your followers over this whole saga these 3 videos. It's rare that anyone would and a lot of people would just chaulk it up to "thems the brakes" but you letting your base know the changes that had been made and that they'd potentially be affected shows your level of customer service even though you're not directly selling the product. Wish more creators would do the same. The sad thing is Filmora could have came out and said "we'll no longer be able to fulfill lifetime license plans after this update" and allowed the current platform to be the last one and at least would have saved face letting you all know ahead of time that this would be the last one. How or why they thought no one wouldn't notice is beyond me. Even the latter option would be crappy, but it's not as crappy as just coldly dumping faithful users from years and years ago because they had a change of heart.
The crazy thing is I found you because of this whole thing and I'm learning so much and can't thank you enough! So sad this is happening and it honestly looks like a downturn for them
I’m sorry this happened to you, Daniel. Thanks for sharing this and bringing this abuse to light. You’ve clearly made a difference for a lot of people, both in the past by helping them to learn about editing but also now in forcing Filmora to come to the table. My dilemma now is figuring out how to deal with Filmora moving forward. Yes, they’ve now “seen the light” and are reversing their garbage lifetime policy, but once a company reveals their true nature, it’s hard to go back. If a restaurant serves me raw eggs or the waiters are nasty, etc., well, it takes a very long time before I’m willing to step into that establishment again. (I mean, despite their new we’re-finally-listening-to-our-customers “revelation,” I don’t find their strike against your channel to be encouraging.) Filmora has a long way to go to show that we can trust them again.
This is so cool. You’re so articulate, organized, and concise. You have a gift, Daniel. The rotten fruit will fall. You will prevail if not with the idiots at a Filmora, then on a much larger scale. Time will tell. Meanwhile, I’m sorry that I’ve turned others on to the Filmora platform. Makes me feel like I’ve led them astray. I’m sure Filmora is banking on users not wanting to learn another editor. I’m not gonna lie…I don’t want to either. But with your guidance, I will.
The world needs more RUclipsrs to be honest like you are, many would censor themself if they could make money from it, but even with the offer of money from them, you speak up and I thank you for that.
As one of the people that had never heard of Filmora prior to your video, I am appalled at how badly they are handling this. I have always used DaVinci Resolve for my videos. While it is a big hammer for the videos I make, I am so very happy I hadn't started with Filmora and had to go through all this pettiness. I love the collaboration video you did on DaVinci. that was very informative to me and I have been using at a very low level for a long time. Thank you. I hope Filmora will understand the error of thier ways and they retreat from what will undoubtedly be their Waterloo.
I'm a casual Filmora user, and a lifetime license owner who hasn't upgraded to 12 yet. I first heard of you month's ago, looking for a "how to" on some editing, and the next I heard of you was your first vid in this series. Well done, on both pieces of content. Great stuff. On this series specifically, you're a beast. Way to take the high ground, and bury them from above. As a casual user, I doubt I'll ever need to give them another nickel, but I've got my popcorn and watching with great enthusiasm, cheering and yelling at the monitor as I do.
I run a media production company that uses Resolve Studio, and before that we used Adobe. I have never used or even seen Filmora, and as far as I can tell I'm not their target market anyway. But your videos have confirmed that I will indeed never be a Filmora customer, nor will I even entertain the idea of recommending it to clients. I dont youtube anymore (similar stories with my niche), so I dont normally watch your videos anymore, but I have been tracking this issue. Having worked for trust and safety teams and written algos in my time, I can tell you. As a "platformer" even big, beautiful personalities like you, you dont matter to Google, RUclips, etc. Keep up the fight brotha. You are a treasure.
Thank you for this. I came across this video when researching which product to start using, and there is no way I will ever use a product from a company using such shady tactics as to attack your channel for exposing a shady company.
I admire you for standing up on this issue, Daniel! It's sad that Filmmora has gone down to this. I'm now considering of moving to other editing platforms because of what they're doing 😥
I literally had no idea who you were until your first video on filmora. Then I saw you posted a second video watched it. After I watch the second video I subscribed to your channel. I've never been so invested in something I didn't know about before. You do a very good job of telling the story and being impartial. Good luck with your endeavor with DaVinci resolve. I look forward to watching the videos on it!
I appreciate that! It's folks like you who have joined into the conversation that allow consumers to have power. Stay tuned, this is a rapidly changing situation.

Lost me. I was interested in buying the software and checked RUclips to see it in action. Found Daniel's first video and now I'm sure, that I won't buy anything from that shady company.
I just entered into the world of Filmora as my first "serious" video editing software investment, like a week ago. Seeing all this going down in a few days times doesn't seeing random. Filmora is obviously watching your channel and systematically combing through everything. Whether this is a dumb intern who doesn't know the connection to you being an Ambassador, or this being a mafia style warning to not speak out against them, they are clearly watching.
They are acting exactly like any Chinese company should be expected to act. Go to China and you will see just how far the Chinese will go to censor and stop those they don't agree with.
X2 on Da Vinci Resolve which is FREE. Get your money back (& quote this BS they are pulling as to why while your at it). Da Vinci Resolve has a bigger learning curve but is a far more powerful editor & now Danial Batal and I'm sure others will be making some great how to videos to learn Da Vinci Resolve. Filmora can't be trusted anymore not to pull a fast one on you one of these days. For all you know they may lock you out of some features with an update one of these days.
In addition to Resolve, I would also recommend people take a look at KdenLive. Unlike Resolve, KdenLive is open source with a GPL 3 license. With a proprietary license, the free version of Resolve can always be retracted, with GPL, KdenLive will always be free in more ways than one.
As a purchaser on your recommendation. I appreciate that you would make these videos. Also thank you for standing up for those who own lifetime filmora
Wow! This truly shows what a scummy company they are! I truly hope this costs them dearly business wise. And that someone sues them with a class action lawsuit! I am one of those people who didn’t know who you were. Or much about filmora. But I am glad you brought this to light.
This is disgusting. I can't believe Filmora would do this. I've followed this saga of Flimora, and it was my first exposure to both Filmora and your channel. Now, I'm outraged and I'm not even inside the loop. Lol. Wishing you the best! You are a good person for sharing this, and for being so calm about this abuse by Filmora. You earned my respect my friend.
Wow, I'm kinda speechless! I admire the way you have conducted yourself with utter integrity throughout this debacle (because that's exactly what is has been). But the story just keeps getting more weird, more unbelievable! I appreciate you, keep doing what you're doing.

Filmora may not consider me a lifetime license holder anymore, but I’ll still be a lifetime subscriber to good folks like our guy Daniel. Thanks for the transparency and have a great New Year! 💪
These videos have been both enlightening, AND kind of a like a casual warning to content creators on relationships with brands. Or it's becoming a WHAT NOT TO DO for brands video. I love the very straightforward storytelling from you Daniel.
Wow Filmora! Way to show your true colors. In the end, I’m sure this will not go well for them. They really picked the wrong guy to go after, didn’t they? Uhoh!
This whole community needs to go scorched earth against Filmora for what they are doing to Daniel and their lifetime license holders. Vote with your voice and dollars and put them under!
I have been a Filmora user for a few years with a lifetime license and a sub for both yours and their channels. I have unsubscribed from their channel as well as stopped using the program. Thanks for being honest and sharing. Praying for you and hoping this works out. If they do get you knocked off, please keep your viewers informed and where we can find you in the future.
Dude.. I can’t believe how calm and collected you’ve been during the entire Filmora shenanigans. Indirect everyone to your content when they want to learn how to use that software. As a content creator.. I get asked how I do things a lot. I don’t make a lot of pre recorded content anymore preferring to just go live. But when it comes to content creation tools and tutors I still send people your way.
Daniel, you’ve gained a new subscriber simply based on your coverage pertaining to the unfair practices of Filmora in which I have never used. A very respectful soul in an otherwise growingly hateful world , very nice to meet you Sir.
Saying they are being petty is VERY diplomatic of you. I personally would have said it another way. I stumbled onto your initial video about this late last night. I am American but live in the UK. I have now been watching each one of these like I'm binge watching Yellowstone! 😂 Anyway, Seeing your Davinci videos, I am now subscribed and watching how this drama unfolds. I think your initial video about all this was quite restrained, and now I know what my first RUclips video is going to be about. They are not the only corporation to do this which is why the hatred for corporations has exploded over the last 3 to 4 decades. Just when you think a company couldn't go any lower, there is always another one pile driving that bar even lower than anybody thought was possible. Keep giving them the "coverage" they deserve.
Sorry this is happening to you boss, you were one on the main reasons people even knew about Filmora and your tutorials showing people what you could do in Filmora got them to buy licenses. Keep your head up, we got your back. Hope you have an awesome weekend and a Happy New Year!
I'm new to video editing and I found your videos while searching for info on Filmora's services as I was going to buy a license. I uninstalled it and closed my account and currently using Openshot which is free and opensource. Thanks for saving me money and the stress of having to deal with this despicable company.

They've been scamming people with their data recovery software advertising for years. This takes the cake.

Challenge the copyright strike! Once RUclips understands that you were under "Contract" to provide that content and was paid by them to do so, that puts the ball back in their court...
It doesn't go to RUclips for review, instead it goes back to Filmora who can just deny it. After that, any further action has to go to court.
I am SO glad I never finalized the deals with them years ago!

Well said! Daniel's a more patient man than I could be in this situation. I hope the company can see the light and takes care of the problem.
It’s frustrating for sure. I’m hoping for resolution of these issues.
Also precedent for this in regards to RUclips.

Ohhh boy, so someone at filmora thought "Hey he's criticizing us, go and post a DMCA claim on one of his videos sponsored by us to scare him and put him in line."
Right now, if the filmora guys are reading these comments, and one of them, who is not a complete imbecile, decides to ask a lawyer "Hey lawyer, are we in trouble?" The lawyer, if he is being gentle, will just tear them a new one and tell them to retract the DMCA claim and publicly apologize.😹

Definitely file a report under consumer protection laws.
@@slashing_S As far as I listened. They just forced every user with "lifetime license" into a "perpetual license" right? Would that count?

Unfortunately they are hiding behind the "they can revolk at anytime".

Same. I don't even edit videos yet all 3 have shown up in my feed and I've watched every one of them.

I'm at a loss for words. I can't believe the hole Filmora is digging. I hope that strike is removed. Appreciate the updates.
If Daniel were giving upgrades instead of updates, you'd have to pay money.
@@TheEndKing Daniel has more integrity than that. The discussion isn't about Daniel and "what if." We're dealing with facts and reality here.
@@TheEndKing 😂😂😂😂
@@TheEndKing 😆😆🤣🤣
Sorry that you're going through this, Daniel.
Seems like we need to take this battle to Twitter... for even MORE traction. 🔥
I just sent my tweet to the company. Daniel, iHope this helps!
This is low, to come after Daniel's primary channel because THEY want to rob & scheme...and got caught ripping people off??? That's not okay.
Just found Dan's channel, earned my sub just based on the BS Filmora is putting him through. Seems like a chilled dude.
Count me in.. shields up!
Team Daniel sounds good to us!💪 we're in
It's astounding how none of these companies ever learn from each other.
When narcissists run a company this is what happens. They never learn because they can´t see anything wrong with it.
It happens because these companies are run by sociopaths. Those are the sort of people that always float to the top. It's not a bug, it's a feature.
@@liquidsnow1 It has nothing to do with the individuals involved, the profit motive is to blame. The people at the top are completely normal and empathetic, they do what they are required to do by their fiduciary duty to shareholders without feeling.
Filmora just discovered the Streisand Effect. Achievement Unlocked.
Man, I can’t believe they’ve escalated the situation like this. I haven’t opened Filmora in awhile but I’ll be using another program the next time I make a video.
Just don't upgrade until they force us.
@@tarabooartarmy3654 same here
I’m sticking to open source software. Sick of these corporate shenanigans
If it were me, and it wasn’t just a money grab, which it is, yiu would fork the product into two.
Hey thanks so much for the superthanks! I really appreciate that 💓
Ironically, your recent squabble with Filmora is my first exposure to their product so you're still the brand ambassador and still just honestly showing their product for what it is.
I don’t edit videos, know what Filmora is nor have I seen a single video from this channel until today. However, due this amazing RUclipsrs ability to make content as mundane as this interesting, I am now invested in this conversation.
Yep
Same here. Now I know to stay away from this program lol I sorta wanna learn video editing to make random videos (mostly gameplay stuff) but I've heard Davinci Resolve is a good free program for that.
I don't do editing or know who you are, but after sitting through your videos I'm with you man. You deserve justice for the pettiness.
This is pretty egregious at this point. Skirt around the EULA they put in place to take more money from us, get called out (RIGHTFULLY) and then try to silence the main guy responsible for even getting there name out there. Keep up the good fight Daniel!
Don't back down.
This is a Chinese company.
We all support you Daniel.
start learning davinci resolve
there are several apps people i know use for editing and tell people to go for over this, more so since this behavior started but before that due to some support issues they had that took a long time to fix, including activation issues with lifetime licences before this change... just a pita...
hell... one gal i know went back to using vegas, Pinnicle, Avid, corel, power director, and other well known apps, including lightworks, the number of people i know using vegas has grown alot in the last couple years...
Good on you for staying so civil even in the face of the injustice, man! It made a huge difference in the end!
There's no repercussions for using the DMCA as a weapon. Sure it's illegal but the law has no teeth.
@@cabin98 yes, maybe as a China based company Filmora isn't aware of this, but they've opened themselves up to lawsuits by not honoring the licenses that were bought.
@@cabin98 If so, it should be a class action lawsuit. I'd be in, even if I no longer wish to use Filmora after this crap.
Wow! that speaks volumes about that company!
NO WAY KEEP IT !! This needs to be told to everyone because of the BS they are doing !!
Thanks. I’m hoping things work out. Situation is evolving rapidly. Stay tuned
I don't follow him either, what I can suppose though is that it came up because I follow LawTube.
Same here, I have no interest in video editing, but youtube recommended this video to me, sounds like you got a powerhouse supporting you 😉
Exactly! And that is what I expected them to do. Instead they are throwing a tantrum like a hurt toddler.
The crazy thing is I found you because of this whole thing and I'm learning so much and can't thank you enough! So sad this is happening and it honestly looks like a downturn for them
The same.
Straight up Booty move! Good job Daniel with taking it on the chin.
Wow! What a messed up approach to business! I do not use Filmora; however, I cannot imagine doing so after this BS. Good luck and keep going.
Thanks for your clear, clean, and professional coverage of this ridiculous situation!
What production company do you run? Definitely a path I wish I would have taken.

I've never seen your channel...until I saw the Filmora cancellation video. I watch a lot of cop watch videos and first amendment videos and see some massive injustices that never have a follow through. I am absolutely invested right now! Thank you for the updates!!
I dont youtube anymore (similar stories with my niche), so I dont normally watch your videos anymore, but I have been tracking this issue.

Keep up the fight brotha. You are a treasure.
This is unfortunate but I must say, I'm thoroughly invested in this series 😂Thank you for covering this Daniel!
Thank you for this. I came across this video when researching which product to start using, and there is no way I will ever use a product from a company using such shady tactics as to attack your channel for exposing a shady company.
Never heard of these people. All I know now is that they are to be avoided. They're doing a stellar job!
Standing with you strong and steady until the strike is taken down, Daniel. You're not alone in your fight.
I admire you for standing up on this issue, Daniel! It's sad that Filmmora has gone down to this. I'm now considering of moving to other editing platforms because of what they're doing 😥

Yes sir. Time to get in touch with the Legal Eagle! Do it!!!
Wondershare has gone from greedy to bullying. What goes around comes around, They are losing customers, me as well. Careful how you tread Wondershare. Take your losses in stride. Keep pushing and you will be labled. Allow users to have a voice too. We are your bread and butter.
Try Da Vinci Resolve instead! 🤩
@RECREVNT what does that 'BS licensing model' mean ?
As a purchaser on your recommendation. I appreciate that you would make these videos. Also thank you for standing up for those who own lifetime filmora
Thankfully it worked out well for the voices who came together
@@Daniel_Batal i just found that out lol. thats great. you did it

This is disgusting.
I can't believe Filmora would do this. I've followed this saga of Flimora, and it was my first exposure to both Filmora and your channel. Now, I'm outraged and I'm not even inside the loop. Lol.

Damn, you burned them daniel!
Vote with your voice and dollars and put them under!
seriously, never gonna buy them ever.
I have been a Filmora user for a few years with a lifetime license and a sub for both yours and their channels. I have unsubscribed from their channel as well as stopped using the program. Can you see how many people appreciate you and your honesty Daniel? This is the REAL Success.. Keep going my friend, you are the best

Love your style and transparency, Daniel. This entire series on your channel is full of integrity from you. 👏👏👏👏👏
