The OCT machine is used to check many different layers of the retina.
We can detect diseases such as: glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, central serous retinopathy, cystoid macular edema and more!
I always tell patients that the OCT is like seeing the roots of the tree. When you look outside at a tree, you can see the leaves and branches and the trunk but you can’t see the roots of the tree.
This machine lets us look deep into the layers of the eye to give eye doctors a better understanding of what’s going on with the retina.
