Hey, just wanted to say thank you for taking your time making these videos to help those with eye conditions by giving out FREE helpful tips and information. There are a lot of doctors/professionals on RUclips who refuse to give out these tips and exercises unless you fork over the money for one of their programs. People are who they are, I suppose.... you can't teach kindness to some if they're unable to grasp what empathy is, I mean it's not like offering a few helpful tips for those who are suffering is going to make you go broke. Anyway, I think you are awesome for making these videos and here's hoping for continued success for you in your practice.

I'll be 65 soon and have had intermittent Exotropia Strabismus since childhood. Some time around 7-8yo, an eye doctor gave me the pencil eye exercises which helped a lot but around 40-45, I started noticing problems again, especially when tired. The last 6-8 years have gotten much worse and before Covid, I was considering realignment surgery. It is still intermittent but far more frequent now and I get headaches from trying to read. This condition really sucks. I never read more than a couple paragraphs at a time anymore.
I'm very glad I stumbled onto this video and learned much. I'm in OC so I hope to make an appointment soon, once I get a referral and if it's covered under my insurance.

I've had severe diplopia for many many years, I've had surgery, it was ok till my right eye suffered an infection. Ever since, especially when I'm tired, I fight to keep my right eye straight (exotropia). It really bothers me cause I like to read and write with my PC. So I do exercices every day to strengthen up the muscles. The results are so so but I'm an optimistic Québécois and hopefully things will get back to normal in the long run, actually, the sooner the better. I'm 66 years old by the way. Signed: A guy who desperately wants to spend his golden years with a binocular vision. Your opinion please? You're doing a great job, thanks a million Doc.

    Hey
    I am sabbir and i am 19
When i was 15 one day i noticed something unusual in my left eye.everything was really blury only in my left eye,so when i looked into the mirror i noticed that my left eye was pointing outwards from my nose.(my both eyes were Normal and fine before that)Since then my life kind of a became a living hell 😅. My friends started teasing me,my cousins started teasing me, my girlfriend at the time broke up with me and even the teachers and classmates where always teasing me. so because of all that i had quit my studies, i stopped going outside,i stopped visiting my relatives and Kind of isolated myself from the rest of the world.its been like this for the past 4 years now.
... Now that i am 19 now i have some responsibility's, and i don't want to be the same person that was during the 4 years.
    And about my left eye
It moves alongside my right eye,it sometimes Even alignes itself straight with the right eye but again it drifts away to the left.
Now i would like to get some help if i can and if anyone can give me any tips on how to fix my eye will really help me and my family.

I have trouble seeing without my glasses but my eyes are straight like that. I see better with them but my eye goes outward when they’re on. any idea why?

I had surgery on one eye for my strabismus in the 80s as a 1 year old, and again on the other in the 90s at 13.
I found the recovery, even as a young teen, to be much easier than the discomfort of the condition.
If you live somewhere that the surgery would be covered then it may be a good option to consider. It looks scary, but it was a very simple procedure, from my perspective at least.

The left eye looks towards the nose very often and the doctor recommended closing the right eye for 5 hours a day. He uses dioptre +5 and when he has glasses, his eyes cooperate, but without glasses, the left eye very often goes inward. I have never had any depth perception, even after two strabismus surgeries, it's never helped. When they ask me if I can pinch the fly's wings, it's always completely flat. Had a surgery as a child, at it did make the eye look normal, then had one as an adult, and it stopped the double vision to some extent, but no depth perception. The eye is drifting about almost 3 years later after the second surgery. I don't really want another surgery that won't fix the problem if I have to have it every couple of years. At this point I think I just need to be reincarnated into a properly functioning body, preferably with super powers lol.

I did glasses for my son when he was 2. His optometrist said it would assist in helping his strabismus and his eyes would get better. When his glasses were on his eyes were straight. However After 6 months I noticed it made the strabismus worse every time he took of his glasses. I took his glasses and noticed he went back to his intermittent strabismus. I am trying to do my best to do vision therapy. He is only 4 and has a hard time focusing. If you have any pointers or advice it would be greatly appreciated 👍

My child is 4 with the same problem. The glasses must be worn all the time and so their eyes will develop correctly and hopefully will outgrow it when they get older.

@@wavesonswim8738 my mother had esotropia as a child and glasses fixed it. Her eyes no longer cross and she only wears reading glasses. She's 63 now. It varies depending on severity of the esotropia, when it's caught and the strength of prescription when caught is what I was told by her doctors. They can usually tell if a child will outgrow it. I was told it's 50'50 with my child.
I do have a question though. How high was your persription as child? Also, as you got older did the prescription increase or decrease?

The video right under this when you search for strabismus exercises - different channel - is still saying that exercises aren't successful in treating strabismus, and then immediately recommends surgery. A surgery that caused my mom and many other people to go blind in one eye. I was at an opto a few days ago and they gave me a little (free) pamphlet with some basic exercises to do at home, and said if there's no change in three months they'll tell insurance that I need vision therapy. I asked her about surgery and she had this horrified expression "Absolutely not, we only perform surgery for eye turn if it's severe and only after trying therapy."
It's almost like a surgery that could, by nature, permanently blind one eye, should be taken more seriously than a cash grab.
