    So the message is be careful with clearcoat thickness and use 2000 grade paper. Was hoping for some instruction 😢

    I don’t think you want a padded sanding method. Manual sanding with a block gives you a robust backing that will take off the high spots only and not sand the low spots like the padded sanding disks do.

      To be shinier, you want the paint flat. You can't remove the low spots, so you remove the high spots. Think a mirror, you want it flat. Same with a piece of glass. You want it flat, otherwise you won't see through it clearly.
