I’m so happy I found your channel. I have been binge watching. This is very helpful. You spoke through some things that I didn’t think about. I am a loyal hair client so I have to adjust. I saw an installation time on my shop’s website and I was curious how many people would be on my head. I better ask. Thank you so much ❤
I got microlocs 03-28-2022 and I paid $1,100.00. It was quite an investment but I love it. It looks better and better with each retie. My only regret is not doing it years ago. Thank you so much for your content . I have learned so much! I love your T-shirt.
I got microlocs installed two months ago. I absolutely love them so far. It took 8 hours for the install and my consultant is amazing! I oil my scalp every other day, as I struggle with dryness and these cold Canadian winters don't help lol. Excited to see how my hair will grow/loc!
I’m 18 months in with sisterlocks and obsessed with my babies lol!!!! I stick to the rules, cause they are my investment! I ain’t about to mess them up! ❤️
Nik Nak..I am with you Guuuurl! I am 11 months sisterlocked and loving ❤💕it! I'm protecting my investment. I LIVE IN PHILLY..NJ AND NY so if my certified loctician is not available..I have options..I plan to also take the class to learn how to retied..Best too you!
Girrrrrl, many of the reasons you indicated is why I knew I wanted to start with traditional locs! Waaaaay to many rules and regulations for me! Love your gestures when explaining! Thanks for sharing and keeping it real!😉
I did my research and I was torn between Sisterlocks and Microlocks, but I think that the main reason why I went with Sisterlocks was because of the look. Sisterlocs are just so darn gorgeous! Pricey though and I go to a Master Stylist 😵💫🤷🏽♀️💰💵 I am happy with my hair. I have no regrets - wish they were cheaper, but I could (although I am not) do my own re-tie to save money.
I have Sisterlocks and this is my 14th year locked. Yes, I have the same consultant who began my locs. I thank God for her. And she owns a shop which has all certified SL consultants. Your tips are wonderful and so true. And the tip on having a backup consultant is real life. I have thought about that and know I will jump in one of the other consultants chair if need be. I enjoy every step of the process and my journey.
Loving your content!! I'm still for it. Planning to start with two strand microlocs!!! You make me want to come to Atlanta to have you start mine. Blessings 🙌
Thank you for this! Your hair is so beautiful! I just watched another one where you cut off a lot of inches and colored and styled your locs. So versitile! 😊💜 I can't WAIT to loc my hair. I'm still reading and learning. I'm going to braidlock.
Excellent video! Its so funny we were on the same page (video making - 12 points 😀). Love your points! Some of the things I believe are stress savers… what you said about the consultant that is a stickler for the rules is so true!! So so glad I found an old schooler who listens to me about what aI know about my hair…. Even if I’m wrong, she lets me be… I cant be mad at no-bo-dy if I lose it 🤦🏽♀️. My thinking is its hair… hopefully it’ll come back… hopefully 😂… anyway. Your hair is still beautiful 😍!
Thanks a lot. I have microlocs, thin hair - so I don't have a grid - did my hair myself by grabbing pieces and twisted each. It's been 5 months already. I enjoy your videos and your tips. Best wishes
As a 4C natural, I literally wash and go and do my hair In and right out of the shower for 45 mins in total and it last me a week. No twisting , manipulation or anything. I worked with a curl specialist for my 4C hair and it took my 12hr days away. Nonetheless, I still want sisterlocks. They’re beautiful and I think is worth the investment. I just did another big chop but the consultations in my area on the website are literally charging 1300 for 2inches of hair.😭 I might gotta travel cause that’s steep for being a bit bald headed now 🤣💀
Hello again this is Evon and I wanted to know which one is stressful having micro locs or sister locs I know each one has to be maintained but one is less stressful in taking care of than the other right?
Lol, I have curly ends. I keep my combed. 😅 I just grab a bunch and comb them at the same time. When I had 200 locs, I used to comb one or two at a time. That was too much. But now that I have 400 locs, I plan to keep the ends twisted at night.
I paid $500 for microloc install on 4 inches of hair. I thought that was pricey but wanted to work with this specific consultant. Less than 2 months later she upped her price to $800 for 4 inches for microlocs. I'm near a big city and she's super popular. I'm now on the hunt for a new person, she was fine but too far. So yes multiple people in my hair and thats okay!
I agree about being told what to do. I followed instructions and got rid of my hair products only to find I could use most of them. I'm talking like $200 worth of products. 😭 lesson learned. After installation all the products they suggested didn't work for my scalp. So guess what I had to buy more products. 😭😭
Consultants need to protect there reputation because people will drag your name as soon as they are not completely satisfied with the results. And that is why I am team sister locks all the way, I know the results I expect and I am willing to invest in myself. I would not have chosen my consultant has her reputation not been stellar.
What do you do when your sister locs have grown out pass you shoulders and you find that you have alepecia. The hair that fell out is growing but no where near the other length and you do not want to cut your hair. Should you then use extensions on the shorter hair?
Pauline, I love your content and often share your videos with others. I wanted sisterlocks but was quoted $3500. I have thick and long "3c" curly hair and will be getting micro locs with twists next month. I would like to keep texture at the bottom by leavening my ends out. How do you recommend keep thing curly? Can I use moisturizer on them to maintain the curl? If so, how often can I moisturize? Also, will the twist micro locs still give me that textured loose natural look like sisterlocs? Sorry for the long post. 😬
If you're starting your loc journey with two strand twist, then no need to leave hair out. Have it twisted all the way to the end because it will still curl up especially with your texture. Yes, you can keep moisturizer (water-base or aloe vera base leave in conditioner) on them. You can moisturize as often as you need (every other day or 3 times a week is fine). If it starts to mat up, braid or twist at night so it can keep its definition. Here is an example of what I do for my client ruclips.net/video/viPGPrkWjDo/видео.html
I like 2 hav a honey blonde / ginger Colors in my hair. So if I can’t color as often as I like… How about a temporary box color from the store (or salon 🤷🏽♀️) Orrrrrrr how about all the temporary wax color that washes out⁉️ The temp wax colors r all over social media
Thank you, very informative, I took notes.. 🙂 only one made me think, #10 color.. can you tell me why they say dont color until locked? Does it stop the process? Thanks again, Blessings!!
Thank you. Usually the recommendation is to color before you loc because once you color, you can't color until your locs are mature. If you color in the beginning stages, it slows down the locking process, it can cause slippage, it loosens your curl pattern even more which interferes with the process.
@@EnToiBeauty thank you for taking the time to respond. That makes sense, I’m scheduled for the end of April, for small micro locks; I’m excited! Blessings!! 😊
I've never spent that much on my head as a loose natural. It doesn't take all that. But I just don't like the look of sisterlocks. They are also very strict and I ain't havin it 😂. I did my own with two-strand twist. 10 months in and love it.
Thanks for the video, im stuck because my hair at the back is very long (waist lenght) and the hair in the front is 6 inches... the difference is insane and i need extension on the front. Im lost
That's a huge difference. You can add extensions or you can loc it like that and rock it as a style. But if your want all one length, extension is your best bet
Thank you. I typically don't trim clients hair until they are about 5 plus years in their loc journey. But if you're trimming to keep it even, as long you're locd, you're good.
I have a couple of questions first I have THIICCCKKK High density hair can I get sister locs without my hair breaking off because of the heaviness and would it be better to get the largest possible size of sister locs?
Yes, you can still get sisterlocks and it won't break off. Once your locs are mature, you can keep at a length that's comfortable for you. And yes, you can get the larger size of sisterlocks. Your Consultant will help you with the best size for your hair density so it's not too thick in the long run
Consultants should give their professional opinion when it comes to each clients hair b/c we are not all the same. I started my Sisterlocks on already colored hair & I let my consultant know that I have gray hair & I will not be rocking my gray hair, I’m not that old, so please let me know when is a good time to color. She did & I colored it when she said I could & all was well with my hair.
Awesome! Glad she was able to accommodate you. Every client is different. A couple of my clients have been getting color since day one of their install. Would I recommend it for everyone, no but each case is different.
As a loose natural aint no way I pay the same in product my sls cost thousands a year Plus the inatall cost no way i spent a few hundred a year, the cost of a single retie
I have 3c hair and every one that I saw with microlocs with this hair type didn’t look as good as Sisterlocs- go ahead Pauline and post some one make me out of a liar
I wanted sister locks so bad but could not pay the price, so I went ahead and interlocked my own head🤣😂 it looks the same and I love them!

Sisterlocks are more expensive than loose hair. Once you calculate the retie costs and base cost it all adds up and shampoo, oils etc
