1. Lower installation cost
2. Quick installation time
3. Faster locking time
4. Less/zero slippage
5. Less shrinkage/bunching
6. Better length retention and growth
Note taker...I love it!
I actually cut my hair to 4.5 inches for my counsultation. I wanted to secure a low price.
It grows back fast anyway💙
I also cut my hair down to 6 inches to save money. Best decision ever. Loving my locking program
@@shirindam exactly! You don’t miss a thing.
This is genius ! Meanwhile many start with extensions .. I’m sure it’s so healthy and well styled due to the big trim . ❤️
@@MissNamaSlay it really is. December made 3 years and they are flourishing wonderfully.
I started my microloc journey on 04/08/23. My hair is about 4 to 4.5 inches. I was excited and ashamed at the same time, it has been 1 week and I’m amazed at how it has filled out. I can’t wait to see it in 6weeks, oh and I’m loving my curl pattern. This was the best decision I made for my hair.
I'm so happy for you and I'm sure by now it has grown and filled so much. Keep enjoying the Journey
How do you feel about it now? I’m asking because I’m looking to loc my hair
She is spot on. I got established in July 2022 with about 4inches of hair. Not gone lie. I had to get used to it. You feel awkward and there are not a lot of styling options. But I’m at around month 6. And the girls are popping. They have fattened up and they are uniformed and beautiful. If you go short you won’t regret it. But you’ll have to trust the process for real. 😌
P.S. don’t mind my profile pic. I haven’t updated yet. Lol
I don't know anyone that regrets this length
Am going to love mine at 3inches..hope it will be possible 💃💃
I’m microlocing short as you speak. Love it.
Thank you so much for this, in 2021 I started with loc extensions I had them for 6 months the extensions was not allowing my hair to loc, I took them out rather cut them out. I cut my hair off I only had 6inches or so but it was damaged, I cut it down to bout 2 inches and 2 strand twisted I hung in there so embarrassed of my thin hair I was a mess emotionally. I’m 52 why am I ashamed because just now at my big ole age I saw myself I hadn’t saw her in a long time. Now here I am 9 months in and I’m so proud of me! Yea it’s still short it’s still thin but it’s the best it’s EVER been and it’s mines❤
#blackgirl #courage #selflove #Yahweh #locs
Aww, I love this. The self-love and discovery 🩵. Love all of you, sis. There is nothing to be embarrassed about 🤗🤗🤗😘
I’m doing a diy micro locs with braids right now. I was going to wait until my hair has grown to 4 or 5 inches but I just said whatever I’m locking today.
I’m super excited now! I had my consultation this past Saturday…I have 4 inches of hair! 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
I just locked mines in November 2022 at 4.5 inches and I’m embracing the process. Loving this journey.
I love that length💙
I wished I had gotten my locd earlier but it wasn't on my mind. So I started with 18-21 inches and paid the price. I feel like I got them when I was rdy. I got turned down by 3 locticians but eventually I found my girl. No regrets 😁
Yeah mist Locticians put a cap on the amount of hair they're willing to loc. Glad you found someone
Great advice! I will be 9 months locd tomorrow. My hair was barely shoulder length and it shrunk right up the first 2 weeks I was locd. I locked my hair for length retention. I was a little sad to see the shrinkage but that sad left as soon as I realized how easy my locs were to maintain. 9 months has seen them grow in length so they look the length my loose natural hair was when I started. The good news is length retention is not the goal for my locs anymore. I love them whatever their length. I will probably trim them when they get too long. I feel like I have a few years before I have to make that decision.
It will shrink in the beginning but once it locs that will stop and you’ll see your length even when wet!
Yes, love this
You’re not lying. I went for my consultation and it’s costing me an extra $500 because of my length. Imma pay it though 😂
$500 xtra?? Wow, I'm looking to loc my hair, but $500 extra??? Ooh sis i'm throw'd off lol
Yep, it adds up
My consult is tomorrow morning. I'm so scared she gone quote me a high number but like you imma pay it 🤷🏾♀️
So I had my consult! We are going to do small locs instead of microlocs and I'm totally ok with that. My hair is fine and thinning a little on top so that's what she recommended. Only 275 for the install so winning! 🥰
@@miaoberneder7127 sounds good. Got my install 2 days ago. Loving my microlocs
Thanks for the advice, I just got locked three week ago o short hair and I love it going to trust the process. ❤
@@MyekoSmith welcome to the Loc family
Just did diy micro locs on 3/28/23 and I have 328 locs! I’m excited to see what happens!
yey!
Sooooo glad I locked up while it was short!!! ❤
I got my micro locs in September and I had 4-6 inches of hair. I absolutely love it!
Great starting length💙
I got my micros installed on 9/07/22 so im almost 4-months! I started at about 10"....I did want sisterlocs but they would have cost me about 2k. Just couldn't afford that...but love my micros! Hair is always done! 😃
lol! Thanks for this. I'm among those that watched while folks who started locs with 2" hair seem to have passed me in length over the past 3 years. I'm finally feeling the length though. lol.
I just said I was going to grow my hair out more before locking it!!! Thanks for the advice ❤
Thank you I was thinking me locking it now while it’s short would be better I’m going to go for it for sure now
Yes, do it now
I’m one of those with long hair and never considered locking until a few months ago. I wish that I had the right mindset about locs when I did my big chop ten years ago! Wow! But, I’m more mature and wiser and I really am liking my locs! Blessings Pauline! You do such a great job of teaching us and keeping us motivated!
Aww, thank you
Agreed! I started my microloc journey (interlocking) with only six inches. It was right after a big chop so it was a healthy head of hair. My locs are now at armpit length!
Great video!
Thank you for sharing💙
Amazing! How long have you had them for?
Thank u for your advice. I just did my first consultation and I have about 25 locs in the back of my hair. Can’t wait to get it all over. I trust the process!
I absolutely love your information and inspiration. I’m less than a week locked with fine short hair but I love it because this is what I want.
I actually microlocked my 20-22 inch hair on my own a little over 2 years ago. It took me 2 weeks to sleatablosh it, however, I accomplished it. I did my own because I received quotes between $1900 and $2200. I could not afford it, so I braided and have been interlocking ever since. I have not paid a dime for my hair to get done except for the fact that I recently got it professionally colored. I love it! 😊
Pauline, I would love to have a virtual consultation with you and learn what I can from you!
Thank you for sharing this. You can always book here: entoibeauty.com/virtual-%26-live-sessions/ola/services/30-minute-virtual-consultation
New here. My loctician recommended I follow you. Glad she did because I am learning a lot. I had my micro locs installed this past Friday, August 11th. 311 locs. Later I am ready to go on this journey. I am one of the ones who have locked from short hair. I was growing out of shaved sides and a pixie cut on the top. I have been a loose natural since 2014 when I gave up the creamy crack. I am super excited and I am hoping that this 4C hair does me some justice and locks quickly. I'm embracing my pickaninnie stage. 😂 Your videos are great and super educational. I'm here for it all.
Thank you!
I'm crossing my fingers to get an appointment in the next few weeks, and I'll be starting at about 5 inches. I'm not worried about the shrinkage bc I work from home, so I seldom style my hair. Still a little nervous but I'm going for it!
Yes, go for it💙
I locked my hair short and I'm so glad I did. I thought about letting my hair grow out more but why though. My install was 4 hours. In and out by lunch time. My hair locked quicker as well. Plus I'm a year and a half in to my new set and the length is so noticeable. All in all a win.
Yes win, win
Hey Chrystle I’m looking to do sister locs. I can’t wait!! How short was your hair when you started?
@@shateldeprincess9409 The loctitian that I went to required at least 4 inches. I want to say my hair was 3 inches in some places and 4 in others.
I loc’d my hair while it was 4 to 5 inches it grew to my shoulders within 3 years I was very surprised at how fast it grew now that you explained it I understand
Thanks for sharing
I’m sold!! Thank you for this video! I was worried about locing my short hair but I’m convinced now 🎉😊
Go for it!
Just locked my hair yesterday. My hair is shorter and took 16 hours. I have looser hair so it was extra work to seal the ends from unraveling. But I LOVE them so far.
I recently loc'd my twa about three weeks ago, and I'm glad I did!!!
Awesome!
I am going for a consultation next week my hair is short and so excited, my hair is about 3 1/2 in the top 2 in the back and about 2 1/2 on the sides
@@feliciapatton8886 it’s been six months since I loc’d my hair and my hair was really short when I started. Now, it’s past my ears!!! I keep it moisturized with rose water mixed with aloe vera juice and tea tree oil.
I needed this. I just started my own microlocs over the past few weeks on 2.5-3 inches of hair, and I washed it twice since then. After the first wash the bottom row came out like she said, but everything else feels okay aside from a few of the ends untwisting
Be sure to shampoo with Clarifying Shampoo and you'd be locd in no time. Don't shy away from washing your locs. It helps the process.
@@EnToiBeauty Thank you so much for the reply! I've been using the Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo
When I knew I wanted to loc , I decided that I would start completely over but wanted to do some things and have fun so I dyed my hair and went platinum blonde for a summer. After I shaved my head and once it grew 2.5 inches , I got sister locs. I am one year in and haven’t locd due to texture of my hair , but my hair grew insanely fast and it’s so healthy
If everybody can have healthy locs. The most important part
Not me having 1-2 inches of hair after I chopped it off in July 😊 wanting sisterlocs or microlocs 😢 tired of being a loose natural. Wish you were in Milwaukee. Love your personality ❤
Great advice! I’m starting Sisterlocs next month with 4-5 inches so this video was just what I needed! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
This makes so much sense. I had done a second big chop on my natural hair shortly before deciding to get Locs. I was wondering why some my hair seems to have grown faster than some people who started long
Yep
Love your energy as always.
Thanks 💙💙💙
I start my micro loc journey tomorrow with 4.5 inches of hair and I am so excited 😊
Such a fun and cute length
I cut my past shoulder length natural hair down to 3 inches when I was ready for SLs bcse I don't like paying extra 😅 [And I never felt "ugly".]
I started my sister locks with a short Bob 7" in front and 4" in the back. At 36 months my hair was bra strap length, but the whole time my locks were growing the back locks were always shorter and loss. Around 30 months they started locking and hanging, but the locks on the ends were really fat. I braid and band every time I washed my hair. I hated the thick ends, so at 36 months I cut about 5" off. I love my locks now that they are the same width. I also liked my locks when they were short.
Most people miss the short look after it's long. Glad you were able to get rid of the fast ends.
I started in August 8-9 2022 at 2 inches sister locks-I have fine high density hair. As of today I’m at 6 inches per my retightening. The shrinkage is real so they’re still little but they’re so cute 😊. My ends will not lock so they’ll stay curly-I had locks before the ends never locked in 4 years.
Do you have an IG page I would love to see pics of your loc journey
Wow, I would love to see it too.
Praise the Lord for you and the information that you are sharing. I started my loc journey on long hair 3 years ago but I didnt like how the locs were started so I cut my hair off. I recently started over with microlocs on short hair and I was going through my list of coulda, woulda, shoulda and having hair envy 👀 for those that loc'd with longer hair. I needed your reassurance to embrace my journey as MY JOURNEY and not be out here being envious, covetous and ungodly (because it is). I just want to lock positivity, love, joy and good energy vibes into my hair during this process and nothing else! Thank you. God bless your healing hands, your business ventures and your journey of greatness. In Jesus' Name, Amen! 🙏🏿
Okay okay okay! You ain't gotta tell me twice... I'm gonna look for a sisterlocker in my area... I'm Excited I didn't know it would lock faster with short hair
Yes, gurrlll
Hi , I just locd me and my moms hair and my hair is short but curly and I’m IN LOVE WITH MY BABY LOCS ❤❤❤ my moms hair is a long loose curl and she loves my mini locs so thank you for the information
Thanks for sharing!!
After watching your video, I got my sisterlock's installation on a tapered cut with 2 inches and less. I have tightly coiled hair texture only two test locks came out. Sisterlock's Birthday is March 30, 2023.
You are so encouraging! 3 inches and getting my locs sooner than later. Thanks to this pep talk cause I was waiting on length too lol 😂
This video was super insightful. I'm a couple inches shy of being fully waist length and i kept saying i didn't want to cut my hair just to get locs. I knew cost would be crazy high but the biggest problem I've been having is finding someone that will establish micro locs by interlocking on my length...i dont want braids or twists. Now that i know that i could run into a lot more issues with just the health of my locs, starting short seems the way to go.
You can check out my other videos on why starting short is better.
@EnToiBeauty I certainly have already along with a few other videos. I really like your content and have become a new subscriber. You randomly popped up in my feed and for that I am grateful.
I chopped my locs of last year and have missed them every since! I still have them of course. I started sectioning my 3 to 4 inches of hair today…to restart my journey! So excited
New beginnings...exciting!
I shaved my head completely bald in April 2021 after having fun bleaching it all colors and trying all styles. I then grew healthy natural hair for 10months and loc'd my hair in Feb 2022. My hair was just 2inches when I started my microlocs. It took my loctician 13hrs (in 2days) to complete my install. Crazy how you're fast enough to finish an install in 5/6hrs. Where were you when I started my journey??
I've now been loc'd for 1yr8months with around 6inches and can't love my hair more. Wish I started sooner! Very glad I started with short hair.
Thank you, I was questioning about my hair being too short to lock (2-3 inches) but after listening to your video I am now making plans to have it lock ASAP. Just waiting on one of two consultants I have contacted to get back to me.
I had my installation of my Sisterlocs when my hair was about 3-4 inches. I just let it go. It was about 5-6 months before I could actually style it. Now, seven years later, it’s to the middle of my back.
My hair is 14 inches and I’m not locking my hair for another two months so it will be closer to 15 inches then. I’m paying 1000 extra because of the length and density 😭. I didn’t seriously consider locking my hair until 2 months ago. Wish I would’ve considered micro or sister locs shortly after I transitioned to natural hair.
@bnjchandler are you trying to get it longer so when it shrinks, you still have a decent length?
No not really. Early October was the month that worked for me and my loctician. But I’m not going to cut my hair at this point. I’m excited to see how much it ends up shrinking and how full it will eventually look
This is a really good topic/ video! My natural hair is about 17 in stretched. I never thought about locking my hair, but for health reasons, (breast cancer), it's difficult for me to manage now. That's why I'm thinking about locking it long.
So, I have a question: When you lock long hair and it shrinks up, doesn't that give it more volume? Doesn't it look full and gorgeous tho'?
Also, I saw a video short of yours where you cut off your long locs. Have you ever thought about making donations to cancer patients when your clients want to cut their locs? I am doing alternative natural cancer treatment, so I still have my hair so far. But many cancer patients lose their hair during or after chemotherapy. What a self-esteem booster it would be for Black cancer patients to get a wig made from those beautiful long locs!
Yes, it does give it more volume and still look beautiful. Donating would be great but don't know where to start
@@EnToiBeauty I'll do some research and see what I can find out.
You are calling me out. I e been trying to let my hair grow for 4 months now before getting my micro-locs. My appointment is 10/7/23. I am just going to embrace the length I have and try to enjoy the journey. I am nervous. Thank you for all your videos!! ❤ your channel.
Yes, just do it. You'll love it!
Love Love Love Your Energy. My hair was 6.6 inches, and it still cost me $1100. But I'm getting used to the hair it's only been a week but I don't regret my decision❤
My appointment is 7/6-7/8 2023… I’m amazed that you can do them in 3 hours.
Another reason to lock short is you will trim off what you started. I started with two strand twist yet continues with interlocking. It made my needs look fat compared to the shaft. I was able to trim that off.
Loving the content, but...I would love to see something about dealing with short, thin hair. My locs are 4 inches to 6 inches long, but due to low density I look like a badly plucked chicken. I know it's a journey but having low density, thin hair is really not easy to love the 'transition stage...sorry but if does feel like the ugly stage'. Any content for those of us who have low density, thin hair. Much love for your content, advice and passion.
I don't have many contents about low densiy, thin hair yet but I will surely take note of this and try to come up with a content about it. This time I have this video and I hope you can get something from it.
ruclips.net/video/VPrOb8qF_LU/видео.html. Thank you for supporting!
This has helped me soooo much!!! Now to find the right person to start my micro locs!!
Glad it helped
I love this energy and explanation! I have a head fulla loooooong strands which I locked a month ago. I know it's going to be a slow and arduous process but I'm down and thoroughly enjoying the info! BAE-BEE!
Thank you I was so encouraged.
You're welcome!
I have a low fade right now and I am strongly considering locs so I’m doing my research. I was initially telling myself I want to let my hair grow long before getting them but after watching this video and reading the comments I’m gonna get them as soon as my hair is long enough for it. Now I’m on the lookout for a good loctician in the Orlando, FL area so if anyone has ant recommendations please let me know! I’m also trying to decide between sisterlocks and microlocs. I’ll keep researching!
I cut my hair 4 inches & loctician stood me up, next person no appts for months, hair grown out so I will loc at my current length
Love your knowledge
Oh no, so sorry that happened. Hope you get it done soon.
These are some amazing tips and your presentation 👏 is on point
Thanks so much!
Very good explanation! That’s literally what my hair did. I started with long hair 16 inches and my hair at my collar it’s been 2 years 😢 lol started over bra length. My mom started ear length and hers is sitting past her collar. 😢😢
I'm ready to lock. Just searching for a loctician in my area.
Where are you located?
I’m in Irving, Texas!
Can you give me a referral?
I just cut off my 4’x1/4” diameter crochet loc’s because I want smaller brother loc’s and a grid pattern.
Having calf length loc’s was great but now I want to start with only my natural and no extensions.
The extensions were never as soft as my natural hair in texture.
I hope to be opening my own retightening salon soon!
Yea I want to start fresh when I get my sister locks. I cut my hair down to 1 1/2 inch. By the time I get it locked, it will grow a little more.
I love starting locs on that length. You're going to love it
My hair was 14 inches at install and took 50 hours to install, close to 600 locs 🙃
Would have been GREAT to start short
I had my locs established June 2022 at about 2-3 inches and I am finally seeing length to where i can see it shake almost 7 months in. My price was lower than it would have been if my hair was longer. If I can just stop this grey..lol I would be good. Still waiting for my ponytail length though 🙄.
You are the Absolute Best, l think l’ve watched all your videos, and without a doubt, The Absolute Best information ever…God Bless You and Your Business, because of your thoughtfulness for others 😇💕👍
Aww, thank you so much!
just reason # 1 is a bid deal
for me.
I have well over 20 inches of length, I have my appointment in 3 weeks. At my consultation I told the lady going to my install I plan to trim off about 2-3 inches before my appointment
I’m so ready for sista locs. Thank you for all the information now I’m just trying to find a Loctician in my area so I don’t have to travel.
Where are you located?
I’m in Saginaw Michigan
I started with very short hair in 2015. I went through the process.
I know it's long by now
I got my microlocs of 10 inches on May 28th 2022, now at 7 months, I'm experiencing quite a number of bunching.
I have 2 short pieces of hair , 1 at the nape and the other at the front and baby they're loc'd
Then short ones will definitely loc up
I started w/a tappered cut & I love it short.
Omg, one of my favorite looks. It's so sexy to me
Your right as far as locking quicker. I have some softer hair in the back ( chemical scaring) & that is still temperamental, but 98% is staying & starting to loc & I'm only 3.5 months in SL. I have a 4a/3c texture. Right now in a 4 reverse pattern. Once it's fully locked we're going to a 3 to show my texture.
I’ve heard that too..
Yep
I locd my hair 3-7-3023 it’s super short. I’m looking forward to seeing it progress
Beautiful!
So true I think you see growth better and faster with shorter hair I got my sisterlocks with 11 inches of hair after getting 6 inches cut but that still took forever and costed a lot of money not to mention it’s going on 3 years and I’m still not fully locked
This might be your year to fully loc 🤞🏾
Oh you Haitian! Lit! I actually have a good amount of hair. I don't want to cut it. I'm doing it myself lol
Lol, you got this. I've had quite a few clients who started their own locs and did really well.
That's so true, I locked my hair when it was 6inches long , at 3month they were already looking locked, my hair is coarse and dense though 😃 anyone that's not looking locked would be because I retwisted it😊
Sounds about right
I live in Atlanta. I really enjoyed watching you locing the short hair. Is there anyone in Atlanta that does less than 3 inches. I wish I could visit you to start mine. Please help.
I’m ready just need to find someone in Michigan. I did a big chop and now I’m at 4/5 inches ready to get my Micro locs
Perfect length to start 😊
Happy New year Sis 🎉 ✨️ I really appreciate you. More grace, prosperity and peace in this new year to you and yours.
Thanks love! Same to you!
My hair length is about 1in. I recently shaved my hair & it’s growing in. I’m a cosmetologist and done many styles. I’m at the point I want something new & low maintenance. I’ve always loved locs & ready to start my sisterloc journey. I’ve been doing research and I came across your channel. Would I be able to a sister locs establishment? I keep hearing ppl say 4.5/6in to loc for short hair.
I just need 1.5 inches to start
This was extremly helpful!!! thanks so much
Glad it was helpful!
This was great news to me!
Awesome!
Started my 2nd set of sisterlocks at about 5in. Was leary at first, but then I thought, its still going to be short while waiting on growth, so might as well allow it to grow locked.....lol
I got my locs 03/22 and cut my hair down to 10 inches from 13 inches. My hair is funny, it start locking from the top to bottom. I ask my loctician about it, she said in some cases that happen. My loctician had a hard time cause my ends were so even it keep coming apart. They are coming along beautifully now.
Another thing my hair is not shrinking like I thought it would. My curly ends are still there also. My loctician says it's my texture?
Did you start with heat damage hair? Or do you naturally have parts of your hair that's straighter?
If you have a loose curl pattern, it does that
Such good info, thanks sis!
You are so welcome!
My hair is currently 7-9 inches and I have 4c we decided on microlocs with 2 strand twists and the root interlocked. I wanted interlocking to retain length, she explained that because I’m a healthy 4c my hair is going to shrink regardless and also because I’m 4c my hair will lock faster and drop sooner. (Is this accurate advice, I saw her interlocking a client with long 4a/b hair and she said she interlocked it because that texture was more prone to slipping
Great information, thank you for educating me😊 I’m 5mx in
Amazing video! Thank you! I AM GOIN TO LOCK WHILE ITS SHORT haha I've been on the dilly dally🤣🤣🤣
Do it!
Thank you so much for this.
Anytime 😊
I just big chopped and waiting to get atleast 3 inches before I get my sisterlocks.
I love your videos! This has nothing to do with your video topic, but I have a request none the less. If you haven’t already could you do a video on the difference between locs and loose natural hair? To be more specific, I’ve been watching a lot of things sisterlocked/Microlocs and was shocked by how people treat them the same as they did their loose natural hair. There was a woman with sisterlocs who said she wears her locs in an updo so her hair doesn’t rub against her blouse and cause damage. Is that really a thing? How and why would locs be as fragile as loose natural hair? What are your thoughts
Sisterlock wearer and former long hair loose natural here! So I wear my locks in an updo during cooler months to avoid my hair picking up lint off my clothes, specifically coats and sweaters. Hope that answers your question. @tikitmb
You definitely convince me!!
Yes, do it
Perfect video, thanks!❤
Thank you 😊
Here watching
🤗
Wow, thanks for the video. Where are you located? I want a lot mine.
