What you see as apps are just reference apps to help people understand how ONDC can work. These apps are all ONDC enabled, the idea being ONDC will create a set of protocols which can be leveraged by sellers to get their goods to a buyer even when they dont own a customer facing app or logistic services. If Amazon is ONDC enabled, then an ONDC enabled seller, say chroma, can leverage amazon's UI and customer base to increase its reach while paying a fee for the same to amazon.
You guys are underrated for the quality of content you put out.
ONDC will take a really long time to be acceptable.
Actually who are on online will be on ondc with their business 😊 only if they are educated.
maybe it will be like UPI, where it accelerates after 1-2 years.
I hope people don’t misunderstand that ONDC is an app. Since this is an ecosystem there are a lot of players in the chain. And we cannot say one experience defines ONDC. We will need some real accelerant (like Covid did for digital payments) to happen for ONDC to be successful.

in simple words if we say ONDC is like a person who takes your order and go to 100 stores who have the same thing and then connect you to that store without you even movin from your seat!
I tried it today and my order was delivered in 30 mins and there were regular sms updates such as order received, shipped, out for delivery and delivered!

ONDC is something new, so there will be a lot of fine-tuning or a workflow optimization needed at ground level.

even UPI had many failed transactions in early days, but now it's much better.

No, reason is - it's not completed and made like zepto, is more about tech networking which is in back end rather than developing full fledged platform like amazon

As i am on introductory session conducted by ONDC today at 3 pm
1- they made clear that ondc is not a platform
2- at it's full scale we can order food,book rooms, flight tickets, movie tickets and even order an automobile service
3- you guys have clear idea on buyer side and seller side but it has one more side which is tech side
4- ONDC is welcoming tech companies to contribute based on their company profile

Hi Surya, yes! This is definitely important to keep in mind: ONDC is a network, not a platform. And it's intended for any and all e-commerce (commerce, online - irrespective of the category). However, I am not aware of this _tech side_ which you are describing, would like for info on this if you don't mind sharing. Is the _tech side_ companies which partner with ONDC to facilitate and further the functioning of the network?

My experience with ONDC is bad. We need a grievance redressal process in place to make it successful. I ordered food ( using mystore) then it got auto cancelled within minutes but I never received the refunds. The place from where I ordered is 600 meters away, so I went there to check for a refund and they asked me to contact the ONDC team. It was like passing the bucks. We will need a rating system soon where buyers can provide feedback.

Dy integrating all the functions of ondc into one service, Zomato, Amazon, Flipkart etc can charge a single fee to the seller. While sellers complain this is high, unless there is a financial motive, it's hard to see why anyone will provide services. ondc does not address this, and relies on competition to control costs, but competition requires excess revenue to attract new players. I wonder how well ondc has modelled the profitability of services to see if this multi component approach can compete with the all in one services. I am not convinced that ondc with its very basic framework is sufficient. Time will tell, but if it does not scale up rapidly, it may not be competitive and fail. Time will tell. Good interview, with real user experience instead of the usual theories

See, that's what I call a robust portable setup.
2011* MacBook 😂 sadly not portable though, the bottom falls off because all the screws came out over the years. The external keyboard and mouse are because the trackpad/in-built keyboard don't work reliably. It's my jugaad setup lol -Caleb

Yep, sorry about that Ranjan - we set it to AF-S (autofocus single) but there was some other setting which we forgot to turn off which superseded the AF-S, so unfortunately the camera kept hunting for focus. Will fix this going ahead. -Caleb

I am a Product Designer, and I will tell you "potential reasons" for why ONDC will not work while UPI works.
UPI is primarily a process and any front-end (user-facing) experience it supports is designed and built by other companies like PhonePe and Google Pay. On the other hand ONDC is the entire package: "User Actions, Frontstage Actions, Backstage Actions, Support Processes" . To be good at all these things to level where ONDC beats Amazon, Flipkart and others is 200 times tougher than ISRO's Mars Mission. I don't believe govt or any companies currently possessing such competence or talent pool.

I bought 2 packets of bread through ONDC network a month before, till now it's not arrived and my money has gone 😡. Government can't compete with Amazon or flipkart. And open protocol for e-commerce is a shit idea. I also mailed buyer app for help. But they responds nothing for my query. I don't think Ondc will be a successful initiative with this pathetic service. Very bad idea from government. The government should first try to deliver fresh water in banglore. After that you can think about e-commerce. Ondc will be a flop!
