Yet, for there are none throughout the remainder of the video. I watched this whole 40 min ordeal just to not even see that part that had me interested in the first place.

Interesting reading the intense heat in the comment section (wow lots of angry people) with Musk fans accusing this video of being biased against Musk while others accusing the video of being way too favourable.
The video was definitely balanced which is why I guess it is drawing such heat from both quarters. I guess in defence of people accusing the content creator of leaving stuff out, the stuff you want included would make the video a lot longer. In my view he covered enough to show that Musk is a very clever but very strange individual who has a dangeous nasty streak in him and so his control of Twitter is very worrying. I am afraid I am not a Musk fan especially after the roll he helped play in stoking the UK riots and his support of Trump.

I just read through the comments on this video. Some people are supporting Elon despite some of the evidences that he doesn't need their support and doesn't care if they do. Others are against him. The real take-away is that one should never idolize another human being. We all have our virtues and our failings. Elon has his virtues - I think buying Twitter was a virtue since the algorithms are much more favourable to me - so it's a personal opinion. I do NOT idolize him because I don't trust him as I don't trust any wealthy people, nor do I trust any politicians - even the ones I vote for. I watch what these people do and I call them out if they do bad things. Sure, we can debate good and bad, but there are standards that are biblical and there are standards that are moral. Those are the ones I care about. Point being, Elon is a human being with the ability to good and bad like anybody else. He's larger than life because of his wealth, but he is neither good nor evil.

Hey Johnny, you’ll probably never read this comment but I think I know why Elon had his pivot. I’ve been a shareholder way longer than most Tesla stans and have been watching Elon’s progression in real time, before most people had even heard of him.
The pivot came because of the pandemic but it was the final straw of 4 events I see as formative to his current world view.
There was the jury trial Tesla lost regarding racism and resulted in a gigantic jury award (later overturned). Elon prides himself on being race-agnostic, and as a youth, he was much more willing to be friends with black South Africans than other whites. He was very confident Tesla was going to win the trial, and likely blames the “woke mind virus” for the unjustifiably high award.
Then there was his daughter coming out as transgender. There are few details about this but I think it is safe to say Elon did not take this well. They have no relationship with each other and again Elon likely blames woke ideology for this. He keeps saying that he “is a liberal”, but he thinks the political spectrum has moved so far left that it makes him look like a conservative.
Then there is his sense of betrayal by the Democratic Party,(which he voted for up until either the 2016 or 2020 election) which has never embraced him despite the fact that he made the electric car happen (along with improving large-scale electrical storage). Because Tesla is not unionized, the Dems cannot get too close to him for fear of alienating their union base. He has been repeatedly shut out or ignored by the Dems on many initiatives, whereas e.g. Mary Barra was given undue credit for innovating in the EV space.
Lastly, the pandemic happened, and as someone else here had mentioned, he was angry that the government had the power to shut down his factories. He himself had a different view of the seriousness of the pandemic, and felt that he was being muzzled and censored for his view in the early months and days of the pandemic.

"Not taking well" that his daughter is transgender is already conservative ideology, making all claims he's liberal untrue.
He seems to generally reason from first principles and has historically been pretty rational to build Tesla and Space X to where they are, but on societal issues he's clearly dogmatic.
If he wasn't, he would know basic facts, like gender affirming care has a wildly positive effect, or that there are physiological differences in the brain of transgender people which align more with their gender than their biological sex.
The only explanation I see is he's so conservative he's blinded by his values.

First, Musk avoids conflict with Erdogan and shuts down opposition accounts upon request, especially accounts of the Gülen movement and whistleblowers from the more "dark side" of the Turkish State. Second, the bot game is big in Turkey. Each party has its own unofficial but somehow related bots and trolls (this may be an effort of that party or it may be a reaction to Erdoğan from the party's mass, especially its youth branches). But Erdoğan and his party use bots and trolls on a completely different scale. Even if the old Twitter couldn't solve this problem, it at least curbed it. Musk isn't even trying.

Very good video. I remember seeing an interview with Musk many years ago where the interviewer joked to Musk that his activities had the grandeur of a Bond villian so the world was lucky he wasn't one. Musk response was odd and I remember at the time thinking wow this man could be really dangerous.
Sadly, despite his great intelligence, he also has always had some very odd beliefs. Like many who have studied the sciences, he always swallowed the mistaken idea that anything is possible for humanity hence why he thinks we can colonise the universe. Folk like him need to be reminded of Newton and his fellow alchemists who were convinced they could change a base metal into gold. I honestly think if you had asked Newton which would be easier, to send a man to the moon or alchemy he may very well have answered the latter. The problem with humans is we remember science's successes but quickly forget its failures. I am sceptical we can even get people even to Mars alive once a space craft leaves the protective earth's magnetosphere for any length of time, let alone travel light years to other solar systems that just might have an earth-like planet.
As for his latest behaviour, it is at best very eccentric but sadly more likely has quite an evil component to it. Autism cannot really excuse this.

I remember digging into the claim that Tesla's patents were open for any company to use and pretty quickly found the catch. I don't recall the details, but it hinged on a total non-starter of an agreement you had to sign onto if you wanted to use their proprietary charging solution. Car companies had other options that didn't involve basically giving Tesla an automatic competitive advantage and went for that instead. Almost universally. The outcome (almost nobody in the market taking such a generous offer back when Superchargers were pretty much the only name in town) should speak volumes as to the value of the deal on offer.
Sure, they eventually dropped the requirement and now we have car companies declaring support for NACS charging standard over the next few years, but the idea Harris presented that Musk left the patents wide open and free for everyone is just straight-up propaganda (at the time it happened). It's an incredibly misleading narrative that ignores the massive strings attached. If the patents were genuinely open and available, it would have been a big PR win and a huge move forward for the industry - instead it was just a free PR win at the expense of setting back EV infrastructure development and making sure Tesla remained the only viable option as long as possible.

Another fact that wasn't mentioned in this video is that Elon Musk personally admitted how Hyperloop was just a ploy to divert attention and funds away from high speed rail construction in the US, which has ongoing for decades now.
He publicly branded Hyperloop as a new revolutionary mode of transport, but privately it helped sabotage potential competition to Tesla.
And that is a common trend among Silicon Valley "tech-bros" in general, where they try to reinvent the wheel coming up with "innovative" ideas to attract investors and ignoring much simpler and cheaper solutions to the same problem.
For example, inventing an AI algorithm to match car drivers taking similar routes and having these cars be transported by a specialized truck to free up road space and reduce traffic. But there's a much simpler solution: public transport.

The last point about AI driving vs public transport. Though I would love public transportation to be the norm in the states, it's def not a simpler solution because it requires huge infrastructure and cultural changes in America where politics and the government need to be involved, and that is anything but simple especially compared to AI driving that aims to build on top of the existing infrastructure.

I saw your documentary the other day and came back to make this post. Specifically about the must censorship on X topic and the comparison between twitter and X (post musk), and was wondering, if its not logical that X complies more with governments requests for moderation now, If old Twitter, used to get 100 posts, and 30% was moderated or auto moderated. Of which 20% goverments were requesting deletion and twitter complying 50% of the time. And currently X barely moderates, meaning 1) more posts are made, they are likely more full of hatespeech of illegal, but still barely moderated, isnt it then logical more requests from governments would come out - and would be complied with? If this is the case, then why are you portraying it like Musk is some sort of censorship nazi? I loved most of your documentary but this part bothered me. Hope to get a response.

And of course equally on the flip side, many Liberals have become convinced that all Conservatives are far right. Much of this analysis is difficult to reference or qualify because it describes Elon or his conduct in abstract terms. I appreciate that brevity requires generalizations, but there’s a whole lot of psychoanalysis with barely any qualification.
As a lawyer I also got set off 17 different ways by the statement that his patents weren’t copyrighted and that explains their being open-source + publicly accessible. This is incoherent, it’s common knowledge that patents and copyrights are completely separate forms of IP protecting different aspects of a work - a “copyrighted” patent doesn’t mean anything. Besides, patents are always publicly accessible, which doesn’t say much to a patent-holder’s charitability. If Elon liberally licensed or otherwise gave away his companies’ patent rights that would be noteworthy, but there is no reason to spend money and resources on getting a patent if you are simply going to give it away - so I assume this didn’t happen as described.
I appreciate this might seem nitpicky, but I’m not describing a complex legal technicality, and to the extent that the thesis of this video essay is based on such generalized facts that are either ambiguous or blatantly wrong, I can’t say I learned much of anything concrete except what Johnny Harris thinks of Elon Musk’s mindset. How to convey information in an essay is a personal choice, but I find such basic mistakes to be a gross journalistic oversight. Nevertheless, I appreciate the effort and hope to catch you on a train stop some other time! Toodles! :P

Thank you for the insight on patents vs. copyrights. Regarding trying to assess some of Elon Musk's conduct, I don't it's a matter of abstraction. For example...when Nancy Pelosi's husband was attacked, and then Elon shared a link to a conspiracy theory website that lied about it, and then Elon later deleted the tweet without correcting the misinformation...that is just bad behavior. A man with one of the biggest platforms in the world (artificially boosted by him) should be even more careful about spreading lies. In addition, if he allows someone onto the platform that outrageously lies (e.g. Alex Jones), he then becomes complicit in spreading the lies.
I'm not saying Elon is an evil dude. Like everyone else, he's a mix of good and bad. But one of the things that bothers me about free speech absolutionists like him (other than hypocrisy) is how some view free speech as this moral ideal, and then go on to express themselves in bad ways (lies, misinformation, etc.). This is much more accurate. I don't know if Harris just didn't want to delve into that much detail, but the way it was posed made is seem like he had much more involvement in paypal's success than he actually did. Paypal was a competitor that bought X to stomp out competition which could drive down their valuation. I don't believe X was ever even fully functional. Elon got stake in the new company, and made a lot of money when it sold. None of X really ever got incorporated, and there's nothing really suggesting Elon had any major part in Paypal's success. I don't think it's fair to entirely discredit Elon on things like Tesla, but even that was kinda weird in the fact that he sued the original owners to claim that he was the original found of Tesla. He's very strange, and obviously has always had a history of self importance. It really does make it seem as though his role in most of his ventures has been largely inflated.

Elon Musk is similar to Steve Jobs. He is an entrepreneur who builds his business on the backs of the real geniuses like Steve Wozniak was for Steve Jobs. Both these CEOs potentially displays antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) bias. You could take an elevator ride with Steve Jobs and be fired before you reached the floor you were going to. Musk is the same model. He has even said it himself, “I don’t care what you think”, “you can just F off”. Jobs famously got his girlfriend pregnant when it was unhelpful for him and his career, so he takes a blood test for the courts and states that 98% of USA males could potentially be the father and he was not the father. DNA in the late 1980’s early 90’s and he then has no choice but accept he was the father. I am an atheist but the universe has its ways of balancing things out - and Jobs dies young. Musk has never disavowed his children but he told his first wife they were divorcing via a 3rd party. The man is potentially narcissistic and a with antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). However I am not an expert and this is just my own personal opinion based on things I have heard him say and things that other close to him ( eg ex wives or ex employees) have stated in interviews about him.

I disagree with your overall concluding point; however, I want to give you praise for the research and work that you have put into this. It's quality work!
Your whole point seems to stem from a text message that does not have a whole lot of context. From that singular text, you go on to claim Musk has an "addiction to crisis," and and "addiction to attention." While you do some good research on other matters, there isn't much that would back these damaging claims of "addiction." Nevertheless, your conclusion is that these addictions are having a "corrosive effect on our society." The research you do points out some hypocrisy against Elon at best - it doesn't back this concluding point.
Since Elon took over Twitter, I have experienced a platform with less censorship. Videos and messages that would be taken down are still up, and mainstream media outlets are being called out for their bias messages. You use the term "propaganda" in your video quite a bit. Unfortunately, determining what is "propaganda" or not is extremely difficult in today's society. I would argue that it is extremely difficult to identify true propaganda because the propaganda machine has been winning in recent years. As such, the clearcut truth is hard to see. Personally, I find that interesting because it is the media and algorithms of our recent history that had led us into the mess we are today. It seems like Musk is trying to clean out the muddiness of all of this, no? Ironically, you may argue that my opinion and experience on X is due to personal bias, but I would say the same thing about your video. A large portion of our opinion comes from the personal research we've done and the media we've digested -- Who's to say which media diet is better?
What I think is this.. Elon Musk has the right idea. His claim for free speech is what we all want and what we all need! His implementation may be questioned due to your example with amplifying his own tweets and the issues with the Turkish government (etc.). However, just as your video shows, SpaceX wasn't immediately successful. How many missions failed before they got things going? How many years did that take? Now think about where we are at in the 'Twitter > X' takeover. This ownership is its infancy, and there may be some learning curves before he gets it right.
The true takeaway of my thoughts here are above, but to go on a little more, I believe censorship has gone too far in social media and new media outlets. Again, in my experience, it looks and feels like X censors the least.

Speaking of dictators... and how they are often misguided... Few people know about this but (H__) itler was convinced that population growth is only possible when new land is acquired. Acquired = conquered during war. So he started the war. How could he have thought that this land has to be conquered? It was actually very simple mathematics for him. Only cities grew larger in population size (and it was the desired kind of growth because that also meant industrial growth). In order to grow population there must have been more food produced - per every new born citizen. But the yield of wheat for example was constant and so increasing food production meant that more land was needed. Only after the second world war real pesticides were invented as well as better agriculture and that allowed for population growth with the same amount of land. Of course the real reason behind this conquest was the will of conquest and many other reasons but the need for food production was one of the reasons.

Tesla/SpaceX/Boring/Neuralink, etc. Good examples of the current companies. But I knew that Twitter would be a personal downward spiral for him. What I didn't realise was how steep it would be. I used to be able to read him, to understand his motivations. I don't anymore. I'm a rational, logical person at heart. His logic has become skewed. As a consequence I'm on the verge of getting off Twitter/X, which is a shame because I do have a lot of contacts and friends there. And I'm not about to run off to Zuckerberg's empire. I don't know. So I analyzed the sources that were provided in this video and have come noticed three facts that may be interesting.
    1. The news sites which are being used as sources have got a very great track record of being left-leaning.
    Not worthy Sources being:
    -The Guardian
    -CNN
    -YahooNews
    -WashingtonPost
    -CBSNews
    2. The study which has been shown at 30:54 states and I am quoting here:
"However, when making comparisons based on the amplification of individual politician’s accounts, rather than parties in aggregate, we found no association between amplification and party membership."
    and
"Recent arguments that different political parties pursue different strategies on Twitter may provide an explanation as to why these disparities exist. However, understanding the precise causal mechanism that drives amplification invites further study that we hope our work initiates."
    and
"Apart from the Home timeline, Twitter users are exposed to several other forms of algorithmic content curation on the platform that merit study through similar experiments. Political amplification is only one concern with online recommendations."
Which is something to take into consideration when regarding this study as is in this video. That this is just one aspect of algorithmic manipulation and not the only one. This does not prove there is no tampering with the algorithms, merely that this type of tampering is likely not present.
Something crucial which should be regarded when trying to make an unbiased evaluation.
3: The numbers shown at 34:10 are also taken quite out of context, let me explain:
The statement that "old Twitter" has only said yes to 50% and X has said yes to 80% of request is true, but there is another key metric here which is called "Partial". Old Twitter has accepted request partially about 47% of the time and X has allowed requests partially about 19% of the time. Omitting these numbers form the selection set is unbelievably misinformative.
Also about 85% of these requests come form Germany and Turkey. Looking into the Lumendatabase we can also see that there are no request form Turkey in the span from October 2021- October 2022 that have been fully denied by Old Twitter, but still quite a few that have only been approved partially.

When Twitter complied, everyone was happy, X had escalating threats from governments eg E Safety Australia, EU and deliberately wanted to flex on him.
Conservative content seems to be amplified as its more logical, eg covid. Banning Trump and Peterson was absurd (Tate is a creation, filling the void created when the opposing Peterson was removed, I do have a bias for Peterson)
The left claimed, its private it can do what it wants, the moment the left lost control, they hated Elon and pushed for control.
Main point, the data is not in isolation to the social aspects around it.

As an autistic person myself (diagnosed), I think Musk sounds like what happens when an autistic person with relatively high self focus/"other people are means" understanding (like my daughter) also is rich enough that he can get away with it, only having to care about the sanction of law, but not social rules. Most relatively severely affected autists only want to do, in fact only manage to do, what they like to do.
My daughter has a kind heart, but if she wants to spend time gaming she will not be able to take other people's plans/situations/almost anything else into account. It is not hat she doesn't care, just that the urge to do what she want to do is so much stronger. I can moderate her when necessary, but only because she has to rely on me for certain things. Musk doesn't have to rely on any specific person. He can replace them.
This also shows in how he treat his girlfriends. He is rich and single sided; either he gets it his way or they're out. They even have to sign a girlfriend contract.
He is in a position where he can't be forced out of his autistic mode, so he only gets more locked into his way being the right way, regardless of what anyone else say.
Remember; I'm an autistic person (diagnosed). I know that if we get moderated in a good way, we can learn to moderate ourselves healthily. at least to some extent. This has never happened to Musk. He doesn't moderate himself unless he sees that it would give him an advantage.

Let him be. You wonder why he is getting crazy, imagine having the whole world attacking you? He has so many fingers in so many pies and his brain is going all the time. You can’t expect him to be perfect as we all have flaws.
